Big Flats Kindergarten Supplies Every student needs to bring:
1. One LARGE backpack (Please no backpacks with wheels) 2. One plastic pencil/ crayon box 3. Two or more large expo (dry erase) markers (the thin ones
wear out to quickly) 4. One pair of children’s scissors 5. One art shirt with their name written largely on the front 6. One box of 24 Crayola crayons- we will ask that you

1. Send a nutritious snack in each day.
2. LABEL all clothing, backpacks and lunchboxes with your child’s name.
3. Lunch money must be in an envelope or change purse
with your child’s name on it.
Preferred online lunch payment through “Pay Schools” (www.payschools.com).
4. Sensible shoes for play and movement (sneakers) are
preferred. Open-toed shoes, high heels and flip flops all pose a safety concern with our students out on the playground and within the school setting.

Dear Parents, We would like to welcome you and your child to the first grade. We have planned a full and exciting year for your child and hope that he/she will find first grade rewarding and exciting. Please have the following list of supplies for your child the first day of school. There may be additional supplies needed once the year begins. • 1 large backpack -no wheels please, labeled with name • 1 pair of Scissors - labeled with name • 1 PLASTIC Supply Box (2” high or less, no pouches or fabric) – labeled with name
• 1 set of headphones in a gallon size Ziplock bag – with name labeled on both • 1 art shirt in a gallon size Ziplock bag - an adult t-shirt works great, name on both

Dear Families,
The supplies needed for second grade are:
o 2 boxes of #2 pencils
o 2 boxes of cap erasers
o School scissors
o 1 Pencil box
o 1 package of glue sticks
o 2 boxes of crayons- 24 or less
o A 1-inch poly-binder (3 ring notebook)- to cover daily planner
o 2 Hole punched, two-pocket folders.
o 1 pair of headphones- labeled with student’s name and in a plastic zip-lock bag
o 2 boxes of tissues
o 2 Packages of dry erase markers
o 1 Dry-erase eraser
o 1 cylinder of antibacterial table wipes
In addition to the above supplies, your child will need: gym shoes, art shirt/cover up, and a mid-morning snack each day. - NO GUM OR CANDY
Birthday treats are welcome. Those who have summer birthdays may choose a day next June to bring a treat to school.

Dear Parents and Students, I am eager to welcome you in the fall to a new school year! I hope you have had a wonderful summer vacation. The new school year holds the promise of new discovery and learning, as well as the prospect of personal growth in all areas. I look forward to getting to know your child and each of you as well.
At this time, I would like to take the opportunity to allow you to get to know me! This is my thirteenth year teaching in the Horseheads School District, and my fifty year teaching at Big Flats Elementary as the Kindergarten-Second Grade Special Education teacher. I have had the opportunity to work with children in K-8th grade. I graduated from Mansfield University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education and received my Master’s degree in special education.
