1:4-6
4 I always thank my God as I remember you in
my prayers, 5 because I hear about your faith in
the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. 6 I
pray that you may be active in sharing your faith,
so that you will have a full understanding of every
good thing we have in Christ.
Philemon was a wealthy
Christian, possibly a bishop of
the house church that met in
his home in Colosse.
Onesimus, a slave that had
departed from his master
Philemon, was returning with
this epistle wherein Paul
asked Philemon to receive
him as a "brother beloved".
2:38-42
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every
one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the
gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you
and your children and for all who are far off—for
all whom the Lord our God will call.” 40 With many
other words he warned them; and he pleaded
with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt
generation.”
2:38-42
41 Those who accepted his message were
baptized, and about three thousand were added
to their number that day. 42 They devoted
themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to
prayer.
9:13-15
13 They brought to the Pharisees the man who
had been blind. 14 Now the day on which Jesus
had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes
was a Sabbath. 15 Therefore the Pharisees also
asked him how he had received his sight. “He put
mud on my eyes,” the man replied, “and I
washed, and now I see.”
4:39-42
39 Many of the Samaritans from that town
believed in him because of the woman’s
testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40
So when the Samaritans came to him, they
urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two
days. 41 And because of his words many more
became believers. 42 They said to the woman,
“We no longer believe just because of what you
said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we
know that this man really is the Savior of the
world.”
4:39-42
42 They said to the woman, “We no longer
believe just because of what you said; now we
have heard for ourselves, and we know that this
man really is the Savior of the world.”
16:29-34
29 The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell
trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 He then
brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I
do to be saved?” 31 They replied, “Believe in the
Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your
household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the
Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33
At that hour of the night the jailer took them and
washed their wounds; then immediately he and
all his household were baptized.
16:29-34
34 The jailer brought them into his house and set
a meal before them; he was filled with joy
because he had come to believe in God—he and
his whole household.
9:16-18
16 Yet preaching the Good News is not something
I can boast about. I am compelled by God to do
it. How terrible for me if I didn’t preach the
Good News! 17 If I were doing this on my own
initiative, I would deserve payment. But I have no
choice, for God has given me this sacred trust. 18
What then is my pay? It is the opportunity to
preach the Good News without charging anyone.
That’s why I never demand my rights when I
preach the Good News.
