Pope John XXIII Parish is a Roman Catholic Faith Community in the Spirit of the Gospels and Vatican II that: proclaims the Word of

A process of inquiry into the teaching of the Catholic Church and
formation into the Catholic Christian way of life.

Lenten Acts of Charity - 2017
Each Sunday during Lent we will be requesting different items we need
to stock the Food Pantry. Thank you for your continued support and
generosity to Pope John XXIII Food Pantry. The following are

We received a nice thank you and acknowledgement from
Cross Catholic in response to our donation for a well as part of the
Kobonal Water Project in Haiti. From Leanna Holmes, Church
Development Officer, “What a wonderful blessing you and your
parishioners are to the people of Kobonal, Haiti. Generosity like yours
truly touches our hearts and will change the lives of families for
generations. I will keep you and your parish updated with the progress of
the project.” Those updates will be posted in our bulletin as they arrive.
Let us continue to pray for the people of Haiti and all in the world who
have limited access to clean fresh water.
Annual Day of Renewal for Separated and Divorced
RISE: Annual Day of Renewal for Separated and Divorced will be
held on Saturday, March 18th, 2017 at Christ the King Retreat Center,
500 Brookford Rd., Syracuse. Father Michael Galuppo will deliver an
uplifting keynote. Empowering workshops and small group sharing will
equip you to rise above the issues encountered through separation and
divorce. Workshops include: Helping Our Children, Healing
Commitments, Creating a Tavoli of Your Life, Up, Up and Away
and more. You will have an opportunity to talk 1:1 with a priest and
attend an uplifting Liturgy. Registration is $45 which includes lunch,
fellowship and the workshops of your choice. Scholarships are available

Higher Ground Support Group
A compassionate and supportive environment is now forming for
those who are affected by separation and divorce. We meet from
7PM to 8PM Monday’s March 13, 27, April 3, May 1 in the church
parlor. If you or someone you know is separated/divorced simp-

Faith Formation
We will be collecting money for Rice Bowl during Lent. We ask that
each child bring in $3.00 sometime during Lent to add to our Rice

A Family Perspective March 12, 2017
Second Sunday of Lent
Transfiguration is a common occurrence in families. When we commit to
another, such as a spouse in marriage or a child in parenting, we are not
committing to them only as they are today, but to the person they are
becoming.
Attention Catechists!
On Sunday, March 19th at Pope John XXIII, the Diocese of Syracuse is
offering a presentation titled “The Heart of the Catechist”, inspired by
Pope Francis’ address to the Congress on Catechesis. All catechists are
encouraged to attend as well as those interested in becoming a catechist
in their parish. For more information or to register, please contact
