Discussion:
Each person took a moment to briefly introduce themselves and describe their role at their respective schools. Anyone is invited to attend these monthly community meetings.
Agenda item: Superintendent/district update Presenter: Dr. Kent Kultgen
Discussion:
Dr. Kultgen discussed the district’s considering offering the ACT test free for all high school juniors. The district, in considering making this opportunity available for free for all district juniors, wants to work toward eliminating barriers to career and college readiness. The district’s test session would be spring 2017 (exact date and time TBD). The ACT is a leading U.S. college admissions test and includes tests in science, reading, math and English.
The two information sessions will be held at the following times (those interested can attend either or both):
Monday, November 28 – 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. meeting at Glacier Peak High School in the Commons
Tuesday, November 29 – 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. meeting at Snohomish High School in the Performing Arts Center Parents discussed the overcrowding in some of our schools.

Discussion:
Matt King discussed a number of technology initiatives in the district including Canvas, Office 365, Skype, video production, animation and WonderGrove Learn. See attachments.

Agenda item: Go around Presenter: Individual attendees
Discussion:
Representatives from schools went around and noted activities that have already happened and plans for upcoming events.
Glacier Peak parent club has partnered with Lyon Ski School. $20 of each student enrollee goes to the parent club. Adult chaperones get free lift ticket and a lesson.
Machias parent club held its book fair during the family fall dance/hoedown. The event was hugely successful.
Cathcart parent club had a family BINGO event alongside a chili cook-off. The event was very popular.
Totem Falls parent club will hold its McTeacher Night soon. 20% of event proceeds go to the parent club.
