EXPERIMENTING WITH LIGHT
PERCEPTIONS OF PLACES/OBJECTS DEPENDING ON LIGHTING
After studying Monet’s paintings of haystacks, I went on to take pictures of the same place at different times to see how the feel of the picture changed.
I also took pictures of a park at different times during the day. The atmosphere of the park changes dramatically; during the day it’s more playful and full of children but at night it becomes more ominous and sinister.
I also took photos of streets around the town at different times of the day, showing them at busier times and at more quiet times.
I took this picture at night so therefore I had it on a long exposure setting. This therefore creates a blurry affect and makes the picture ambiguous. I cropped it so the dog wasn’t in it, therefore making it more sinister and unclear if the person is walking towards the camera (viewer) or away. The lack of light makes the setting and character ambiguous.
