A Brief Summary of the activities:
In order to highlight the objectives, activities to be conducted from the
placement cell, an inaugural programme was arranged at the college premises.
The activities of the placement cell, LBSGFGC, Bengaluru started with the
inaugural of the cell and an extension lecture delivered by Prof. Narayan
Prasad, Associate Professor and Nodal Officer, Placement Cell, DCE to all the
final year degree students of our college. Followed by a Workshop on the topic
“Importance of Placement Cell: NAAC Perspective” was organized to all the
staff of the college. Not only to inspire the adult students but also to ensure a
proper career path, Guest for the event made it very clear among the students
about their students’ life and its importance through the statistical data and its
analysis and how students should be keen in choosing their career objectives,
planning and execution of the same during their students’ life. Further, in an
interactive session at workshop with all the staff of the college, Professor has
stressed on the importance of placement cell at Degree College with the
proper execution of pre-placement workshops, training sessions to final year
students for their better placement in the job field and even to assist the
students to face the competitive exams through KPSC, UPSC and so on. Sir has
urged on the importance of placement of students and their career path
begins with not only from placement activities, but also from each and every
subject wise – subject teachers’ and their role by taking initiative in making
them prepared, get ready for “Interview” by conducting “Mock Interview” in
order to boost their self-confidence technically subjectwise and to have an
exposure about how to face interview. Further, stressed and requested to the
English Department for their support to achieve all these in terms of improving
students’ communication skills. Sir has highlighted on the NAAC visit in future
days and importance of placement cell in the next NAAC visit. 100/130 marks
alone from placement cell out of 1000 points. Three important things to
maintain documents – students’ registration, feedback report and photos.
“NAPS Placement” blogs and its details were provided by the resource person.
Finally to summarise, Sir have given a clear picture about students in terms of
the status and problems faced by them in terms of their job, career path. To
overcome or to reduce such students’ centric problems, our role as a teacher
has been clearly stressed upon.
Not only inspiring the adult students but also for ensuring a proper career
path, Special thanks to Prof. Narayan Prasad for his efforts to make placement
cell of Government College in par with its private college counter parts. His
inspirational talk coupled with constant hard work to make a difference in the
lives of marginalized and weaker section students of Government Colleges is
really an admirable one.
In order to help the students and to make them more aware about various job
opportunities available to degree students in Banking and Insurance sectors, a
workshop was conducted by the resource persons: Ms. Sangeeta, Manager,
IOB, RT Nagar, Bengaluru and her team.
How to write Resume through “Resume building” session which was conducted
by Ms. Jayashree Mehta successfully. One more session “Your Job: College to
Career” was successfully completed by Mr. Ramadurai, Founder and Director
of UYM (Universal Young Mind), a team of people comprises of corporates
from India and USA – a platform to assess employment talent to help in
transforming individual, technology and society. Students of all streams of our
college took part in this programme. More than 95 students attended the
session and benefited from the programme. Students found very enthusiastic
and interested throughout the session.
Part time job opportunities for the college students was created from
placement cell of LBSGFGC. “Feed my Pockets”, represented by Mr. Rahul who
has arranged two days stall of job recruitment drive to all degree students of
our college, so as to make them to grab the opportunity of part time job as per
students’ convenience of time. Many students’ query regarding application for
jobs and executing along with their college studies. Still waiting for the
company’s report and feedback about our students who registered in order to
cater their job requirements.
Totally 20 Students took part in the one day free workshop conducted by
Innovative coaching Centre, Ganganagar, Bengaluru about how to enroll and
face competitive exams. Many students were enthusiastic to know about
competitive exams and got clarification for their doubts which made them to
apply for KPSC –SDA exams. Approximately 50 students have applied for this
exam. We, as a part of placement cell, have initiated through PPT, by
explaining the steps followed to apply online for KPSC –SDA exams. Further,
Mock interview was conducted for students to boost their confidence level.
As per DCE order towards motivating students to take up competitive exams
such as KPSC-SDA, a workshop was arranged in order to educate and spread
awareness among students about competitive exams of UPSC, KPSC and so on.
Resource person Mr. Manjunath KU of Ujwal Academy, Bengaluru handled the
technical session and in association with ‘Vijaya Karnataka’, an article about
this event was published in Vijaya Karnataka news paper dated 19-09-2017.
Along with the college regular circular, for communicating the information,
watsup group is been created so as to instantaneously share the information
about various coaching classes/training/available online study
materials/website links to all the current degree students. Further, As a whole,
Placement cell convener and members are striving hard to motivate the
students to take up competitive exams. Further, career in the field of media
like journals, newspaper and so on as language translator, editor etc. was
addressed by the speaker on the occasion of Extension Lecture organized by
“Bhasha Sangam” a language club programme conducted at our college on 07-
10-2017.
Apart from regular teaching, individual subject wise teaching faculties are
conducting many activities such as quiz, case studies, group discussion, Debate,
mock interview etc. so as to improve the confidence level of students to face
their job interview in future.
Students’ IQ with EQ will make them more successful. With this objective, a
Workshop on Emotional Intelligence was conducted on 28-`10-2017 with
resource persons Dr. Richa and team to address our students how emotional
control and management are important in their students as well as career life.
Placement cell looks forward to organize more students’ centric workshops
towards achieving objectives of the placement cell, on par with mission and
vision of the college, along with helping students to achieve their career
objectives.
