My dream house is in the shape of a cat. I have lots of windows. There are stairs up to the front door. The living room is in the head. The kitchen is outside! It is under the house next to the swings. There’s an apple tree that’s changing colors. The other tree is not. There are monkey bars from the house to the tree so you can climb the tree into the house.

I was sitting on my nest, and I felt it start to shake. I saw the leaves rustling and felt quite a lot of weight descend on the tree. Then all of a sudden a huge face appeared above me. I flew off my nest in dignity and started to fly around her head squawking and making a lot of racket. The girl slowly climbed down, but I did not settle down until I saw the girl walking away. When I settled back down on my eggs, I was very shaken. It was a while before I was calm enough to go searching for a worm for my dinner. It was very, very, very scary for me.

One side is my playroom and the other side is my bedroom. The whole body is like a hotel, and all the scales are rooms that people can stay in.

A BIRD’S POINT OF VIEW
The tree started to shake. Two gigantic things appeared in front of me. I could feel their hot smelly breath. I squawked at them. They laughed at me. One of the things sneezed and sent a leaf into my mouth. It tasted terrible. I spit it out. I squawked and flew around their heads. I landed and they got off the tree. It shook like crazy! I held on to the light blue eggs so they would not fall out. I hope that never happens again. And it didn’t.
Evan Maxwell, Grade 3

I found a really strange egg today! It is starting to hatch! The egg is neon red and yellow. I found it in the fire pit. The egg smells like burnt wood. It sounds like a bonfire when it is burning. It is the size of a small tree. It is oval-shaped and feels very hot. I found the egg with the help of a strange map. The egg has a two-foot crack in it! I think it will be a fire dragon.
