Things that will be discussed
We will discuss about early concept, theory and law ofphysics at the ancient time.
The concept that will be discussed is :- Time
The Theory that will be discussed are :
- Theory of Aristotle about Falling Body- Theory of Phystagoras about the shape of the earth
- Theory of Democritus about Atom

Theory and Law that will be discussed
(cont..)
- Theory of Ptolemeus about Geosentris
The Law that will be discussed is
- Archeimedes Law About Hydrostatic Law

Cont..
The idea most fundamental to Egyptians view of
times was that it was a cylical, not a linear.
Time is Made up of periods that renewed by
themselves . The periods were the daily rising
sun.

Cont..
So , then they start to make a concept to
determine the periods that always renewed.
They said that as a time , that is
The way to mark a succession of recuring phase
that made up of periods that renewed
themselves.

Nowadays concept of Time
Time is a Dimension in which event can be
ordered from the past through the present into
future and also the measure of durations of
events and interval between them

The differences of Time Definition
The meaning of both definition is quite same.
Today, the definition of time is more spesific , it
add the classification of time , that are past ,
present and future.

Theory of Falling Body
Aristotle ( 384322 B.C. ) Said that if twobodies are experiencing free fall , the heavier
body will move downward quicker.

10/24
Nowadays Concept of Free Fall
The old theory is no longer accepted, because it
is far from the truth.
According to Galileo Galilei , the acceleration of
object in free fall doesnt depend on its mass.

11/24
Cont
Aristotle has been misunderstood that what he
actually had in mind was the Terminal Velocity
of a body falling through a resisting medium (air)
, when the retardation of the medium if exactly
equal to acceleration of gravity.

12/24
The differences of
Free Fall Definition
Of course it is so different,
Todays theory said that the acceleration offalling body is depend on the gravitational force
while the old theorys said that it is due to mass
of the falling body.

Theory of Phytagoras
The Shape of the Earth
Phytagoras ( 580500 B.C). The theory is about
the shape of the earth. He said that the earth
was Spherical

The Differences of the Theory of the
Shape of the Earth
There is a difference , the shape of the earth is
not exactly spherical but it is oblate ellipsoid.
The earth is flattened and the diameter in the
equator is billow.

Theory Of Elementary Particle
Democritus ( 460360 B.C.) State that All
matter is made of indivisible particles called
Atoms.
8/12/2019 Physics in Ancient Time
17/24
Nowadays theory of
Elementary Particle
Today, the indivisible particle is no longer atom.
There are two smaller elementary particle :
Quark and lepton that also made up the atom

Theory of Ptolemous
Geosentric
Ptolemous ( 70170 AD )
Earth is at the orbital center of all calestial
bodies.
8/12/2019 Physics in Ancient Time
20/24
Nowdays Theory - Heliocentric
According to Copernicus , All planet / calestial
bodies revolved arround the sun.
Sun is at the orbital center.
8/12/2019 Physics in Ancient Time
21/24
The Differences of
The Orbital Center Theory
So,the theory already turning , previously Earth
is the center then Sun become center of the
orbital.
We now approve the theory of Heliocentric.

Archimedes Law
Archimedes ( 287212 B.C. ) law about
Hydrostatic.
Archimedes states that the loss of weight of a
body submerged in water is equal to the water
displace and that a floating body displaces its
own weight of water.

Nowdays theory
This theory is still accepted until now.
