Alhambra welcomes German Special Olympians

The Ratkovich Co.raises money forSpecial Olympics

The Special Olympics World Games2015, which opened on July 25 in LosAngeles, was featured at The RatkovichCompany’s Broker Luncheon on May 19.The luncheon is an annual event to show-case The Alhambra, the 45-acre officecampus on Fremont and Mission. A phil-anthropic element is always part of theevent, and the Special Olympics was cho-sen this year because Alhambra is a HostTown.

The speakers were Wayne Ratkovich,president and CEO of The RatkovichCompany and owner of The Alhambra;Patrick McClenahan, president and CEOof the Special Olympics World Games2015; Peter Hudnut, employee of TheRatkovich Company, 2008 Olympic Sil-ver Medalist, and board member for Spe-cial Olympics World Games; DustinPlunkett, Global Messenger for 2015 Spe-cial Olympics World Games, and SpecialOlympics Athlete; and Keynote SpeakerRafer Johnson, the 1960 Olympic GoldMedalist in the Decathlon and founder

all brokers to match $50 that was pro-vided to them in a gift bag, or to donatemore. “We had a successful event andhelped raise money for a fabulous orga-nization,” said Mr. Ratkovich.

Alhambra, Monterey Park and Lincoln Heights were Host Towns on July 22-24 for TeamGermany, which participated in the 2015 Special Olympics that opened Saturday, July 25, inLos Angeles. Nearly 200 members of all ages, who have been training for months, if not years,were hosted by the three communities to help the German delegates get acclimated and providea memorable and quick immersion into American life and culture. 100 delegates were placedunder the stewardship of the City of Alhambra in anticipation of the day’s activities.

Delegates were treated at Cal State LA with Alhambra’s own Fosselman’s Ice Cream.
