What you need to do
n Find an interesting subject to photographn Use your eyes and look for a frame to highlight it
¨ Look for things you can “shoot through” such as fences, curtains, flowers, doorways etc.
n Focus on the subject – NOT the foreground element in the frame
n You can frame on just one or two sides; or you can completely surround your subject
Camera settings
n Personal choicen I used Manual mode (M) and took test shots to
get the exposure right ¨ Getting the correct exposure can be tricky; images
might end up being either under or over-exposed n Use evaluative metering as a starting point and
switch to spot if the results are not pleasing. ¨ You might have to experiment as the conditions will
be different

Camera settings
n f/8 as a starting pointn Aim for a shutter speed of at least TWICE the
focal length of the lens being used (if being hand held)
n ISO 200 as a starting pointn RAW or Auto WBn Experiment and use what you like the best
