Grandparents Day
This year to celebrate Senior Citizen’s week we are hold-
ing Grandparents Day on the 22nd of March. I would love
to meet all our students’ grandparents and have them
see the fantastic work that their grandchildren are doing
at Yetman. Of course I understand that some grandpar-
ents will be unable to make it and if that is the case, your
children may like to invite close family friends or other
relatives. All our local senior citizens will be invited to join
in the day. If there are any parents who can help me with
the morning tea it would be greatly appreciated. Original-
ly we were going to have a picnic lunch but as it is can-
teen day Erica has kindly offered to allow grandparents to
purchase lunch through the canteen. We will send a
menu out shortly that so that grandparents can order
their lunch and give Erica plenty of time to prepare for
the day.
Netball, Soccer and Union trials
Yesterday Ellen, Deuchar, Mitchell, Liam and Ted attended
the trials in Moree. There were many students from all
over the zone. At this stage we know that Ellen was suc-
cessful in gaining a place in the zone team for Netball and
Deuchar, Ted and Liam - (as a reserve) were chosen for
the zone union team. We have not heard the results of
the soccer yet. Thank you to Colin Dight for taking the
children over, he was very impressed with their efforts
and behaviour.
Chaplaincy Program
Thank you to all those parents who responded to our survey about having a school
chaplaincy program. We will attempt to gain funding for this program and hope to
employ our new Parish Minister to work at the school for one day a week. Some of the
programs we are hoping to run with this support will be our boy education initiatives as
well as reading groups and supporting the classroom teacher. The Minister will also be
available for students to talk to at any time whilst he is here.
Uniforms
Notes will come home shortly for people to order jumpers and jackets, these will be navy
blue and have the school crest embroidered on them. There are also a few different
designs of girls skorts, shorts and pants as samples for students to try on and order if
needed. We have navy blue shorts and long pants available in all sizes for the boys, as well
as the sunsmart skirt with cotton shorts underneath available in all sizes in navy and
maroon. Sports shorts in maroon in both micro fibre and cotton are available in all sizes.
A price list will come home shortly. We have bought these items wholesale so they are
usually significantly cheaper than the same product in the shops.
Swimming Carnival
Last week our students turning 8 this year who can swim a length of the pool attended
the Macintrye Swimming carnival. The students all had a great day and many of our
students then attended the zone carnival in Moree on Friday. I was very impressed by all
the children and how much they have improved. All our children tried their very best and
even though they may have come last they did not give up nor did they pull out of any
events but kept trying all day. Big congratulations to Ellen who was a joint Senior Girl
Champion.
Congratulations to those who went through to Moree, you were fantastic. Especially
those of you who came last. I am so very proud of you for giving it your best and showing
the excellent sportsmanship we expect from you. Thank you to all the parents who
helped with the carnival or transported children to these events. Of course I am also very
proud of our students who gained a place or were selected to go through to the regional
carnival.
Good luck to Charles, Ellen, Deuchar, Liam and Ted who will attend the regional carnival in
Armidale next week.
Aladdin and his Magic I-Pod
On Tuesday the 13th Aladdin and his Magic I-Pod will be performed at the Roxy Theatre in
Bingara. Our infant class will be attending and will be transported by Mrs Smith and Mr
Wood or Mrs Hill. Students will be able to catch the school bus to school and home as
usual.
It’s easy to fall back on the same tried and tested school lunches, but why not try something new, tasty, easy and healthy?
Quick and scrumptious school lunchbox ideas are available at School A to Z (www.schoolatoz.nsw.edu.au/wellbeing/food/recipes) and the Heart Foundation, www.heartfoundation.org.au/recipes which also offers a wealth of information about maintaining a healthy body

Report
Hi I’m Liam and I am the new Sport Captain. My duties include looking after students at sport carnivals and encouraging them to do their best. I am responsible for the sports equipment and for making up games for morning fitness. Last week we went to Macintyre Swimming Carnival and I would like to report that everyone did a fantastic job. Congratulations to all the people that did the medley - it was a hard race and I’m very pleased that everyone finished! Well done to all of the people that went along and represented our school!
