The Operator’s Guide and Safety Hand-book have been prepared to acquaintthe owner/operator or passenger withthis personal watercraft and its variouscontrols, maintenance and safe ridinginstructions. Each is indispensable forthe proper use of the product, andshould be kept in a waterproof bag withthe watercraft at all times.Make sure you read and understand thecontent of the Operator’s Guide andSafety Handbook.For any questions pertaining to thewarranty and its application, consultthe WARRANTY section in this guide,and/or an authorized SEA-DOO dealer.This guide uses the following symbolsto emphasize particular information.

� SAFETY MEASURES
General� To fully appreciate the pleasures,
enjoyment and excitement of boat-ing there are some basic rules thatshould be observed and followed byany rider. Some rules may be newto you or covered in the Sea-DooSafety Handbook or Safety Video-cassette, others may be commonsense or obvious… irrespective, weask that you please take a few min-utes of your time to read these safe-ty instructions completely beforeyou operate your watercraft. Fail-ure to follow this safety informa-tion and safe boating rules couldresult in injury, including the pos-sibility of death to you, your pas-senger(s), or other water users.
� Bombardier recommends not to op-erate under 16.
� Become completely familiar with thecontrols and operation of the water-craft before embarking on your firsttrip or taking on a passenger(s). If youhave not had the opportunity to do sowith your authorized Sea-Doo dealer,practice driving solo in a suitable areaand feel the response of each con-trol. Be fully familiar with all controlsbefore applying throttle above idlespeed. As its operator, you controland are responsible for the water-craft’s safe operation.
� Always carry the regulatory requiredsafety items on board. Check the lo-cal regulations or consult your au-thorized Sea-Doo dealer.
� Make sure that all users of the wa-tercraft read and understand all on-product warnings.
Operation� Always perform the pre-operation
checks as specified in this guide. � Operator and passenger(s) should at
all times wear a coast guard approvedpersonal flotation device (PFD) that issuitable for personal watercraft.
� Operator and passenger(s) shouldwear protective clothing. Severe in-ternal injuries can occur if water isforced into body cavities as a resultof falling into water or being near jetthrust nozzle. Wet suit bottom (orthick, tightly woven, snug fitting cloth-ing that provides equivalent protec-tion. Thin bike shorts for examplewould not be appropriate), footwear,gloves and goggles/glasses are rec-ommended.
� Always keep in mind that as thethrottle lever is released to idle posi-tion, less directional control is avail-able. To turn the watercraft, bothsteering and throttle are neces-sary.
� Like any other craft, this watercrafthas no brake. Stopping distance willvary depending on initial speed, load,wind, and water conditions. Practicestopping and docking in a safe, trafficfree area to have an idea of how longit will take to stop the watercraft un-der varying conditions. Do not re-lease throttle when trying to steeraway from objects. You need throttleto steer. Do not use the watercraft’sreverse, if so equipped, to stop.
� Ensure that all passengers knowhow to swim and how to reboardthe watercraft from the water.
� The operator and passenger(s)should be properly seated beforestarting or moving the watercraft,and at all times when watercraft isin motion.

� Do not start or operate the water-craft if a person(s) is seated on thesun deck (if so equipped) or swimplatform, or are nearby in the water.The watercraft’s jet thrust can causeinjury. Always accelerate slowly.
� To prevent accidental starting or un-authorized use, always detach thesafety lanyard from the watercraft es-pecially when swimmers are board-ing or nearby, or during removal ofany weeds or debris from the intakegrate.
� Keep away from intake grate whileengine is on. Items such as long hair,loose clothing, or PFD straps can be-come entangled in moving parts re-sulting in severe injury or drowning.
� Ride within your limits and avoid ag-gressive maneuvers to reduce therisk of loss of control, ejection andcollision.
� Riding with a passenger(s) or pullingother crafts, tubes, skies or wake-boards makes the watercraft handledifferently and requires greater skill.Do not overload the watercraft ortake on more passengers than des-ignated for the particular watercraft.Overloading can affect maneuver-ability, stability and performance.
� Avoid adding on accessories, orequipment which may alter theconfiguration, balance or control ofthe watercraft. The watercraft may-be fitted with tow eyelets which canbe used to attach a ski rope. Howev-er, do not use these eyelets or thewatercraft’s cleats to tow a parasail.Severe injury or watercraft damagemay occur.
� In shallow water, proceed with cau-tion and at very low speeds. Ground-ing or abrupt stops may result in in-jury. Debris may also be picked upand be thrown rearward by the jetpump onto people or property.
� Respect no wake zones, the rightsof other water users and the environ-ment. As the “skipper” and ownerof a watercraft you are responsiblefor damage to other crafts caused bythe wake of your watercraft. Allowno one to throw refuse overboard.
� Remember that a watercraft is notdesigned for night time operation.
� Avoid adding on accessories or equip-ment which may alter the craft’s con-figuration or balance.
� Remember, gasoline fumes are in-flammable and explosive. Alwaysadhere to the fueling procedurecontained in this guide and thosegiven to you by the marina. Alwaysverify fuel level before use and dur-ing the ride. Apply the principle of1/3 fuel to destination, 1/3 back and1/3 reserve fuel supply. Do not carryspare fuel or inflammable liquids inany of the storage or engine com-partments.
� Combustion engine needs air to op-erate; consequently this watercraftcan not be totally watertight. Anymaneuvers such as figure eightsetc., that cause the upper deck to beunder water may cause severe en-gine problems due to water ingestion.Refer to SPECIAL PROCEDURES andLimited Warranty contained in thisguide.
� Due to the close proximity of otherracers, it is recommended that anapproved personal watercraft hel-met be used during racing events.Read and follow all instructions andwarnings provided with the helmet.
� Never ride after consuming drugs oralcohol. Operate your watercraftprudently and have fun. Don’t for-get that all persons must assist oth-er boaters in an emergency.

Maintenance� Only perform servicing procedures
which are detailed in this guide. Fur-ther assistance or information canbe obtained from your authorizedSea-Doo dealer. In many instancesproper tools and training is requiredfor certain servicing or repair proce-dures.
� Maintain the watercraft and equip-ment in top condition at all times. Ad-here to the prescribed maintenanceschedules. An annual inspection ofthe watercraft is always a good rec-ommendation that should be fol-lowed.
� Always use spark plug cable ground-ing device when removing sparkplugs.
� The bilge should be kept clean of oil,water or other foreign materials.
� Do not attempt to lift the watercraftwithout special equipment and train-ing.
� The engine and the correspondingcomponents identified in this guideshould not be utilized on product(s)other than for those they were de-signed. Maintenance procedures andspecified tightening torque should bestrictly adhered to. Never attempt re-pairs unless the appropriate tools areavailable. These watercrafts are de-signed with parts dimensioned inboth the metric and the imperialsystems. When replacing fasten-ers, make sure to use only thoserecommended by Bombardier. If re-quired, contact your authorized Sea-Doo dealer for further servicing infor-mation.

1. WARRANTY COVERAGE PERIODIn Canada, BOMBARDIER INC. (“Bombardier”), and in the USA, Bombardier on behalf ofBOMBARDIER MOTOR CORPORATION OF AMERICA (BMCA), warrants FROM THEDATE OF DELIVERY TO THE FIRST CONSUMER that each SEA-DOO watercraft sold, asNEW and UNUSED and PREDELIVERED by an authorized North American SEA-DOO wa-tercraft dealer, will be free from any defects in material and/or workmanship for a PERIODof:a) For private owners:
• TWELVE (12) CONSECUTIVE MONTHS.SEA-DOO RX* DI AND SEA-DOO GTX† DI MODELS• TWELVE (12) CONSECUTIVE MONTHS for the emission related components provid-
ing input to emission control. (e.g. sensors).b) For commercial use:
• FOUR (4) CONSECUTIVE MONTHS.SEA-DOO RX* DI AND SEA-DOO GTX† DI MODELS• TWELVE (12) CONSECUTIVE MONTHS for the emission related components pro-
viding input to emission control. (e.g. sensors).All genuine Bombardier accessories, installed by an authorized SEA-DOO dealer at the timeof delivery of the new and non-current new and unused SEA-DOO watercraft, carry the sameWarranty Coverage Period as for the SEA-DOO watercraft.
2. WHAT BOMBARDIER WILL DOBOMBARDIER will repair or replace, at its option, all genuine BOMBARDIER part founddefective in material and/or workmanship, under normal use, maintenance and service,with a genuine BOMBARDIER part without charge for parts and labor, at any authorizedSEA-DOO dealer during the Warranty Coverage Period.
3. CONDITION TO HAVE WARRANTY WORK VALIDATEDThe customer must notify an authorized SEA-DOO watercraft dealer within two (2) daysof the appearance of the defect in material and/or workmanship and present to the servic-ing authorized SEA-DOO dealer the SEA-DOO Warranty Registration Card or a proof ofpurchase of the NEW and UNUSED SEA-DOO watercraft and must sign the repair/workorder prior to the start of the repair in order to validate a warranty repair. All parts replacedunder this limited warranty become the property of BOMBARDIER.
4. EXCLUSIONS - ARE NOT WARRANTED• Normal wear and tear items;• Labor, parts and lubricant costs of all maintenance services.• Damages caused by failure to provide proper maintenance and/or storage, as described
in the “SEA-DOO Watercraft Operator’s Guide”;• Damages resulting from improper repairs, modifications or use of non-approved parts
or, repairs not performed by a authorized SEA-DOO dealer;• Damages resulting from abuse, misuse, neglect, racing;• Damages resulting from accident, fire, theft, vandalism or any act of God;• Incidental or consequential damages, or damages of any kind such as but not limited
to towing charges, telephone calls or taxi; • Water damages caused by water ingestion;• Damages related to gelcoat finish including but not limited to cosmetic gelcoat finish,
blisters or fiberglass delamination caused by blisters, crazing, spyder or hairline cracks; and• Damages resulting from improper service or maintenance.

5. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITYThis warranty gives you specific rights, and you may also have other legal rights which mayvary from state to state, or province to province. WHERE APPLICABLE, THIS WARRANTYIS EXPRESSLY GIVEN AND ACCEPTED IN LIEU OF ANY AND ALL OTHER WARRAN-TIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRAN-TY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE.Neither the distributor, any authorized SEA-DOO dealer nor any other person has beenauthorized to make any affirmation, representation or warranty other than those containedin this warranty, and if made, such affirmation, representation or warranty shall not beenforceable against BOMBARDIER or any other person.In no event shall BOMBARDIER be liable for special, consequential or incidental damages,including but not limited to loss of use and transportation costs. Some states or provincesdo not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or limitationson how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply.BOMBARDIER reserves the right to modify this warranty at any time, being understoodthat such modification will not alter the warranty conditions applicable to the SEA-DOOsold while this warranty is in effect.
6. TRANSFERIf the customer sells the SEA-DOO watercraft guaranteed under the present, he shallassign and transfer this warranty, which shall be valid for the rest of the relevant PERIODas defined in section 1 hereinabove, to the new customer.
7. CONSUMER ASSISTANCEa) In the event of a controversy or a dispute arising in connection with this BOMBARDIER
LIMITED WARRANTY, BOMBARDIER suggests that you try to resolve the issue at thedealership level. We recommend discussing the issue with the authorized dealer’s ser-vice manager or owner.
b) If further assistance is required, Bombardier’s service department should be contactedin order to resolve the matter in Canada and the USA.
c) If the issue has still not been resolved, please submit in writing your complaint to:

1. WARRANTY COVERAGE PERIODBOMBARDIER INC. (“Bombardier”), as manufacturer, warrants FROM THE DATE OF DE-LIVERY TO THE FIRST CONSUMER that each SEA-DOO Watercraft sold anywhere in theworld except the United States and Canada, as NEW and UNUSED and PREDELIVEREDby an authorized SEA-DOO watercraft dealer, duly appointed by an authorized SEA-DOOInternational Distributor, will be free from any defects in material and/or workmanship fora PERIOD of:a) For private owners:
• TWELVE (12) CONSECUTIVE MONTHS.SEA-DOO RX* DI AND SEA-DOO GTX† DI MODELS• TWELVE (12) CONSECUTIVE MONTHS for the emission related components pro-
viding input to emission control. (e.g. sensors).b) For commercial use:
• FOUR (4) CONSECUTIVE MONTHS.SEA-DOO RX* DI AND SEA-DOO GTX† DI MODELS• TWELVE (12) CONSECUTIVE MONTHS for the emission related components pro-
viding input to emission control. (e.g. sensors).All genuine Bombardier accessories, installed by an authorized SEA-DOO watercraft dealerat the time of delivery of the new and unused SEA-DOO watercraft, carry the same War-ranty Coverage Period as for the SEA-DOO watercraft.
2. WHAT BOMBARDIER WILL DOBOMBARDIER through the local authorized SEA-DOO International Distributor will, duringthe Warranty Coverage Period, repair or replace, at its option, all genuine BOMBARDIERpart found defective in material and/or workmanship, under normal use, maintenance andservice, with a genuine BOMBARDIER part without charge for parts and labor, at any localauthorized SEA-DOO watercraft dealer.
3. CONDITION TO HAVE WARRANTY WORK VALIDATEDThe customer must notify a local authorized SEA-DOO watercrafts dealer within two (2)days of the appearance of the defect in material and/or workmanship and present to theservicing authorized SEA-DOO watercraft dealer the SEA-DOO Warranty Registration Cardor a proof of purchase of the NEW and UNUSED SEA-DOO watercraft and must sign therepair/work order prior to the start of the repair in order to validate a warranty repair. Allparts replaced under this limited warranty become the property of BOMBARDIER.
4. EXCLUSIONS - ARE NOT WARRANTED• Normal wear and tear items;• Labor, parts and lubricant costs of all maintenance services;• Damages caused by failure to provide proper maintenance and/or storage, as described
in the “SEA-DOO Watercraft Operator's Guide”;• Damages resulting from improper repairs, modifications or use of non-approved parts
or, repairs not performed by a authorized SEA-DOO watercraft dealer;• Damages resulting from abuse, misuse, neglect, racing;• Damages resulting from accident, fire, theft, vandalism or any act of God;• Incidental or consequential damages, or damages of any kind such as but not limited
to towing charges, telephone calls or taxi;• Water damages caused by water ingestion;• Damages related to gel coat finish including but not limited to cosmetic gel coat finish,
blisters or fiberglass delamination caused by blisters, crazing, spyder or hairline cracks; and• Damages resulting from improper service or maintenance.

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITYThis warranty gives you specific rights, and you may also have other legal rights resultingfrom the application of mandatory national laws which may vary from country to country.WHERE APPLICABLE, THIS WARRANTY IS EXPRESSLY GIVEN AND ACCEPTED INLIEU OF ANY AND ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDINGWITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FORANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE.In no event shall BOMBARDIER be liable for special, consequential or incidental damages,including but not limited to loss of use and transportation costs. Some countries do notallow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or limitations onhow long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply.Neither the SEA-DOO international distributor, the selling local authorized SEA-DOO water-crafts dealer nor any other person has been authorized to make any affirmation, representationor warranty other than those contained in this warranty, and if made, such affirmation, repre-sentation or warranty shall not be enforceable against BOMBARDIER or any other person.Every SEA-DOO watercraft is sold with the English version of this warranty. Some autho-rized SEA-DOO International Distributor may elect to translate this warranty into local lan-guage, it is then understood and agreed that in the event of any discrepancies or inconsis-tencies between the two versions, the English version shall prevail.It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the SEA-DOO watercraft complies withall boating regulations and standards of any country, other than the original country of sale,where the SEA-DOO watercraft is intended to be used.BOMBARDIER reserves the right to modify this warranty at any time, being understoodthat such modification will not alter the warranty conditions applicable to the SEA-DOOwatercraft sold while this warranty is in effect.
6. TRANSFERIf the customer sells the SEA-DOO watercraft guaranteed under the present, he shallassign and transfer this warranty, which shall be valid for the rest of the relevant PERIODas defined in section 1 hereinabove, to the new customer.
7. CONSUMER ASSISTANCEa) In the event of a controversy or a dispute arising in connection with this BOMBARDIER
INTERNATIONAL LIMITED WARRANTY, BOMBARDIER suggests that you try to re-solve the issue at the dealership level. We recommend discussing the issue with theauthorized dealer’s service manager or owner.
b) If further assistance is required, the authorized local SEA-DOO INTERNATIONAL DIS-TRIBUTOR’s Service Department should be contacted in order to resolve the matter.

1) Safety Lanyard(engine cut-off cord)
The safety lanyard cap should be se-curely snapped onto its post to be fullyoperational.Pulling the safety lanyard cap from itspost stops the engine operation. At-tach the safety lanyard to the opera-tor’s Personal Flotation Device (PFD)and snap the cap to the post to be ableto start the engine.Two short beeps indicates the systemis ready to allow engine starting. Oth-erwise, refer to the TROUBLESHOOT-ING section for the coded signals chart.

Digitally Encoded Security System (DESS)The safety lanyard cap specifically con-tains an electronic circuit that gives ita unique electronic serial number. Thisis the equivalent of a conventional key.This safety lanyard cannot be used onanother watercraft and conversely, theone from another watercraft cannot beused on your watercraft.However, the DESS brings a great flex-ibility. You can buy an additional safetylanyard and have it programmed foryour watercraft. The DI models also offers a specialsafety lanyard — the Sea-Doo LKTM
(Sea-Doo Learning KeyTM) — whichelectronically limits the speed of thewatercraft to approximately 55 km/h(35 MPH) therefore enabling first timeusers and less experienced operatorsto learn how to operate the watercraftwhile gaining the necessary confi-dence and control.To have additional safety lanyard, referto an authorized Sea-Doo dealer.If the engine is stopped with the start/stop button while the safety lanyard re-mains on the post, it can be restartedwithin approximately 10 minutes bypressing the engine start/stop button.After this delay, it is necessary to applya slight pressure or to remove and re-install the safety lanyard on the post toallow engine starting.

Should the engine be stopped,watercraft directional control islost. Always disconnect safety lan-yard when watercraft is not in oper-ation in order to prevent accidentalengine starting or to avoid unautho-rized use by children or others ortheft.

2) HandlebarThe handlebar controls the direction ofthe watercraft. Turning the handlebarto the right steers the watercraft to theright and inversely.
3) Throttle LeverWhen the throttle lever is squeezed,the watercraft accelerates. When fullyreleased, engine automatically slowsdown to idle speed and watercraft isgradually stopped by water drag.
Carburetor-Equipped Models
Do not depress lever unnecessarilywhen engine is not running. A fuel ac-celerator pump delivers fuel to the en-gine each time throttle lever is applied.CAUTION: Engine can be flooded ifthrottle lever is unnecessarily ap-plied several times. If engine is flood-ed, it will not start. Refer to SPECIALPROCEDURES for instructions.
4) Engine Start/Stop Button
All Models
To start engine, depress and hold thestart/stop button. Release immediate-ly after engine is started.To stop engine, fully release throttle le-ver then depress the start/stop buttonand disconnect safety lanyard from thepost.

With the Digitally Encoded SecuritySystem, leaving the safety lanyard formore than 10 minutes after stoppingthe engine will require a slight pres-sure or the removal and reinstallationof the safety lanyard on the post to al-low engine starting.

5) Variable Trim System Button (VTS)(if so equipped)
Located just below engine start/stopbutton, this button is used to changepump jet nozzle position and to adjustride to suit watercraft load and waterconditions.

7) Choke LeverCarburetor-Equipped Models
The choke is provided to supply a rich-er fuel/air mixture when starting a coldengine. Choke lever should be pulled and held tooperate. Lever will automatically returnto its normal position when released.

A push-pull lever:– forward– neutral (if so equipped)– reverse.
GTS, GTI, GTX, GTX DI and RX Series
From the forward position, pull the le-ver to reverse. Push back to go to for-ward. Always set in forward when fin-ished. To find the neutral, set inreverse then push back until the wa-tercraft stops moving backwards.

9) Fuel Gauge/Low Oil Warning Light(if so equipped)
Analog gauge indicates the amount offuel in the fuel tank and a warning lightturns on when level is low in oil reser-voir.
1. Low oil warning light
NOTE: With the safety lanyard discon-nected, electrical system can be acti-vated for approximately 33 seconds bydepressing the engine start/stop but-ton. This is convenient to see the fuellevel (also low oil level condition) whenthe safety lanyard is not at hand.
10) Speedometer(if so equipped)
Analog speedometer indicates thespeed of watercraft in miles per hour(MPH) and kilometers per hour (km/h).The speed sensor mounted on the rideplate sends the signal to the speedom-eter and information center (if soequipped).
11) Tachometer(if so equipped)
An analog tachometer indicates therevolutions per minute (RPM) of theengine. Multiply by 1000 to obtain theactual revolutions.
12) Information Center Gauge/Buttons(if so equipped)
NOTE: With the safety lanyard discon-nected, information center can be ac-tivated for approximately 33 secondsby depressing the engine start/stopbutton. This is convenient to see thefuel level or view some other func-tions when the safety lanyard is not athand.This is a LCD multifunction gauge. Dif-ferent displays and functions can beactivated using 2 buttons — MODEand SET — following specific sequenc-es as described below.

General DisplayThe default display is the clock (orclock/compass if so equipped) unlessanother mode has been selected. SeeDisplay Priorities below.Repeatedly pressing the MODE buttonscrolls the following displays: Tachom-eter, speedometer, peak speed, aver-age speed, trip meter, hourmeter, wa-ter temperature, exterior temperature(if so equipped) and chronometer.

Clock: Indicates the actual time in hoursand minutes (hh:mm).Clock/Compass (if so equipped): Dis-plays the cardinal points to indicate theorientation of the watercraft.
Tachometer: Indicates the revolutionsper minute (RPM) of the engine. Speedometer: Indicates the speed ofwatercraft in kilometers per hour (KPH)or miles per hour (MPH).Peak Speed: Indicates the top speedthe watercraft reached (PK KPH or PKMPH).Average Speed: The information cen-ter approximately calculates and dis-plays the average speed (AV KPH orAV MPH) of the watercraft since thelast engine start.Trip Meter: The information center ap-proximately calculates the distancebased on the operation time and the wa-tercraft speed and displays the result inkilometers (KM) or miles (MILES).Hourmeter: Displays the time in hoursof the watercraft usage.Water Temperature: Displays the wa-ter temperature (L TEMP) in degreesCelsius (°C) or Farenheit (°F).Exterior Temperature (if so equipped):Displays the exterior air temperature(E TEMP) in degrees Celsius (°C) or Fahr-enheit (°F).Chronometer: Allows to measure aninterval of time in hours and minutes(hh:mm).

Message DisplayThe information center features a dis-play area that blinks a message when-ever one of the following circumstanc-es occurs: • compass error (COMPAS)• maintenance (MAINT)• engine overheating (H-TEMP)• low fuel (FUEL-LO)• low oil (OIL LOW)• low voltage (12 V LOW)• fuel injection system sensors and ma-
jor components (MAINT) (DI models).Except for low fuel and low oil, whichcan be corrected by refilling, it is rec-ommended to see an authorized Sea-Doo dealer when other messages occur.The warning light will blink at the sametime.
Warning LightThe red warning LED (Light-EmittingDiode) blinks along with the messagedisplay to catch your attention.
Fuel Level DisplayBar gauge continuously indicates theamount of fuel in the fuel tank whileriding. A low-fuel condition is also indi-cated when it occurs. See MessageDisplay above.
VTS Position Indicator(if so equipped)The VTS position indicator shows theriding angle of the watercraft.

Display PrioritiesThe clock, (clock/compass, if soequipped) is the default display mode.The default display is the one that ap-pears when the information center isfirst activated or displayed back afteran alternate display was chosen.The tachometer, speedometer andchronometer, are the only other modesthat may be chosen to replace the de-fault display. When one of these is se-lected, it will become the default dis-play until it is changed again.When another display mode is chosen,the default display will be displayedback after 4 seconds.As a self test, all LCD segments and theLED will turn on for 3 seconds each timethe information center is activated.In the event of a warning message, themessage will blink and override theunits display.If more than one warning message oc-curs, the blinking messages will scrollevery 4 seconds.

Fueling Procedure
Do not allow anyone to remain on thewatercraft.Tie watercraft securely to the fuelingpier.Have a fire extinguisher close at hand.Do not insert the spout too far in fillerneck.Pour fuel slowly so that air can escapefrom the tank and prevent fuel flow-back. Be careful not to spill fuel.
Stop filling when the fuel reaches thebottom of filler neck. Do not fill into thefiller tube to prevent fuel spill out. Donot overfill. Fully tighten fuel tank cap.

Oil Injection SystemThis watercraft features an oil injectionsystem which does not require manualfuel/oil mixing.A sufficient amount of injection oilshould be maintained in the reservoir.NOTE: It is recommended to carry a 1 Lof spare injection oil.The use of a funnel is recommendedto pour the oil into the reservoir. Stopfilling as soon as oil appears at approx-imately 13 mm (1/2 in) from top of res-ervoir. Do not overfill.CAUTION: Always maintain a suffi-cient amount of injection oil in the oilreservoir. Check and refill every timeyou refuel if necessary. Do not overfill.If the engine runs out of oil, severe en-gine damage will occur. BREAK-IN PERIOD
CAUTION: Scrupulously follow theinstructions of this section. Failureto do so may reduce the engine’s lifeand/or performance.With Sea-Doo watercraft powered byRotax® engines, a break-in period of 10hours is required before continuousoperation at full throttle.
All Models except DI Models
To achieve a good break-in, throttle le-ver should not be depressed morethan 3/4, however, brief accelerationand speed variations contribute to agood break-in.
DI Models
To achieve a good break-in, vary theengine speed every few minutes withbrief wide open throttle accelerationsof up to 15 seconds.
All Models
Continued wide open throttle runs andprolonged cruising without speed vari-ations should be avoided, this cancause engine damage during the break-in period.
All Models except DI Models
To assure additional protection duringthe initial engine break-in, it is recom-mended to add 1 L of the same oil asin the injection oil reservoir in the fueltank for the first full fuel tank fillingonly.
To add injection oil in the fuel tank, pro-ceed as follows:Fill fuel tank with approximately 15 li-ters (4 gal) of gasoline; then, add theinjection oil in the fuel.Fill up fuel tank with gasoline. Do notoverfill.NOTE: It is important to proceed in thisorder to allow a proper mixing of the oilin the gasoline. If oil is added first in anempty fuel tank, fuel lines will be filledup with injection oil leading in a no startcondition of the engine.CAUTION: Remove and clean sparkplugs after engine break-in.
DI Models
NOTE: Adding injection oil in the fueltank for the break-in has no noticeableeffects on a DI engine.
All Models
10-Hour InspectionIt is highly recommended that after thefirst 10 hours of operation, the water-craft be checked by an authorized Sea-Doo dealer. This inspection will alsoprovide the opportunity to discuss theunanswered questions you may haveencountered during the first hours ofoperation.
The 10-hour inspection is at the expense of the watercraft owner.

Throttle SystemCheck throttle lever for free and smoothoperation. It should return to its initialposition immediately after it is released.
CAUTION: Engine can be flooded ifthrottle lever is applied several timeswhen engine is not running. If en-gine is flooded, it will not start.
Shifter SystemCheck reverse gate operation for freemovement. With shift lever in forwardposition, the gate should be in upwardposition; locked on the GTX RFI modelsand offering a resistance to go down-ward on the GTS, GTI, GTX series andRX series. With the shift lever in neutralposition, gate should be in middle posi-tion. With shift lever in reverse position,gate should be in downward position.
VTS (Variable Trim System)(if so equipped)Push on arrows on VTS button to checknozzle movement.NOTE: With the safety lanyard discon-nected, electrical system can be acti-vated for approximately 33 seconds bydepressing the engine start/stop but-ton. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Principle of OperationPropulsionThe engine is directly coupled to adrive shaft which, in turn, rotates animpeller. This impeller is accurately ad-justed in a housing where the water isdrawn up from underneath the water-craft. Then the water flows throughthe impeller to a venturi. The venturiaccelerates the water and producesthrust to move the watercraft. De-pressing the throttle lever increasesengine speed and therefore watercraftspeed.

The shift lever should be in the forwardposition in order for the watercraft to ad-vance.

When first using the watercraft, theoperator should become familiar withthe use of the variable trim system(VTS) at varying speeds and water con-ditions. A mid-range trim is generallyused when cruising. Experience alonewill dictate the best trim for the condi-tions. During the watercraft break-inperiod, when lower speeds are recom-mended, it is an excellent opportunityto gain familiarity of trim adjustmentand its effects.When the nozzle is positioned in an up-ward angle, the water thrust directs thebow of the watercraft upward. This po-sition is used to optimize high speed.

Turning the handlebar pivots the jetpump nozzle which controls the water-craft direction. Turning the handlebar tothe right will turn the watercraft to theright and inversely. The throttle shouldbe applied to turn the watercraft.
Unlike a car, a watercraft needs somethrottle to turn. Practice in a safe areaapplying the throttle and turning awayfrom an imaginary object. This is agood collision avoidance technique.
The watercraft behaves differently witha passenger and requires greater skill.The passenger should always grip theseat strap or grab handle. Reducespeed and avoid sharp turns. Avoidchoppy water conditions when carryinga passenger.
Boarding the WatercraftGeneralAs with any watercraft, boarding shouldbe done carefully and engine should notbe running.
On some models, boarding is facilitat-ed by using a step.
Boarding from a Dock or in Shallow WaterWhen boarding from a dock, slowlyplace one foot on the watercraft foot-board nearest the dock and, at thesame time, transfer the body weight tothe other side in order to balance thewatercraft while holding the handlebar.Then, bring the other foot over the seatand put it on the other footboard. Pushthe watercraft away from the dock.

Throttle should be applied andhandlebar turned to change the di-rection of the watercraft. Steeringefficiency will differ depending onthe number of passengers, load,water conditions and environmen-tal factors such as the wind.

Stopping/DockingThe watercraft is slowed by water drag.The stopping distance will vary depend-ing on the watercraft size, weight,speed, water surface condition, pres-ence and direction of wind and current.
The operator should become familiar-ized with the stopping distance underdifferent conditions.Release the throttle at a sufficient dis-tance before the expected landing area.Reduce speed to idle.On models equipped with shiftersystem, shift to neutral, reverse or for-ward, as required.

General CareRemove the watercraft from the waterevery day to prevent marine organismsgrowth.Should any water be present in the hull,unscrew the drain plugs and tilt the wa-tercraft to the rear in order to allow wa-ter to flow out.Wipe up any remaining fluid in the en-gine compartment (bilge, engine, bat-tery, etc.) with clean dry rags (this is par-ticularly important in salt water use).
Additional Care for Foul Water or Salt WaterWhen the watercraft is operated in foulwater and particularly in salt water, ad-ditional care should be taken to protectthe watercraft and its components.Rinse trailer and watercraft‘s bilge areawith fresh water.CAUTION: Failure to perform propercare such as: watercraft rinsing,cooling system flushing and anticor-rosion treatment, when watercraft isused in salt water, will result in dam-age to the watercraft and its compo-nents. Never leave the watercraftstored in direct sunlight.
Cooling System Flushing and Engine Internal LubricationGeneralFlushing the cooling system with freshwater is essential to neutralize corrod-ing effects of salt or other chemical prod-ucts present in water. It will help to re-move sand, salt, shells or other particlesin water jackets (engine, exhaust mani-fold, tuned pipe) and/or hoses.Engine lubrication and flushing shouldbe performed when the watercraft isnot expected to be used further thesame day or when the watercraft isstored for any extended time.
Proceed as follows:Clean jet pump by spraying water in itsinlet and outlet and then apply a coat-ing of BOMBARDIER LUBE lubricantor equivalent.Connect a garden hose to connectorlocated at the rear of watercraft on jetpump support.NOTE: A quick connect adapter can beused (P/N 295 500 473). No hose pinch-er is required to flush engine.

To assist you when using the water-craft, a system monitors some compo-nent of the watercraft and sends audi-ble signals through a beeper to informyou of a particular condition. Refer tothe TROUBLESHOOTING section forthe coded signals chart.
Limp Home ModeDI Models
Monitoring SystemTo assist you when using the water-craft, a system monitors the electroniccomponents of the fuel injection sys-tem and some components of theelectrical system. When a fault occurs,it sends visual messages through theinformation center and/or audible sig-nals through a beeper to inform you ofa particular condition. Refer to the IN-FORMATION CENTER for the displayedmessages and the TROUBLESHOOT-ING section for the beeper coded sig-nals chart.
Limp Home ModesBesides the signals as seen above, thesystem may automatically set defaultparameters to the MPEM to ensurethe adequate operation of the water-craft if a component of the fuel injec-tion system is not operating properly. Depending on the severity of the mal-function, the watercraft speed may bereduced and not allowed to reach itstop speed as usual. In this case, lettingthe engine returning at idle speed mayallow normal operation to come back.The engine RPM may be limited to idleif some critical components fail. In thiscase, removing and reinstalling thesafety lanyard on its post may allownormal operation to come back.
These performance-reduced modesallow the rider to go back home whichwould not be possible without this ad-vanced system. If this occurs, see anauthorized Sea-Doo dealer as soon aspossible for inspection.
Engine OverheatingAll Models
CAUTION: If the monitoring beepercontinuously sounds, stop engine im-mediately.Perform Jet Pump Water Intake andImpeller Cleaning procedure describedin this section.When back to shore, flush cooling sys-tem, refer to POST-OPERATION CARE.If engine still overheats, refer to an au-thorized Sea-Doo dealer for servicing.
Jet Pump Water Intake and Impeller Cleaning
Weeds, shells or debris can get caughton the intake grate, drive shaft and/orimpeller. A clogged water intake maycause troubles such as:1. Cavitation: Engine speed is high but
watercraft moves slowly due to re-duced jet thrust, jet pump compo-nents may be damaged.
2. Overheating: Since the jet pumpoperation controls the flow of waterto cool the engine, a clogged intakewill cause the engine to overheatand damage engine internal compo-nents.

A weed clogged area can be cleanedas follows:
In-Water CleaningRock the watercraft several times whilerepeatedly pressing engine start/stopbutton for short period without startingengine. Most of the time, this will re-move the blockage. Start engine andmake sure water flows out from bleedoutlet and watercraft operates properly.If system is still blocked, move the wa-tercraft out of the water and removeblockage manually.
Models with Reverse System
If the aforementioned method does notwork, the following can be performed:– With engine running and before ap-
plying throttle, put shift lever in re-verse position and vary throttle quick-ly several times.
– Repeat procedure if necessary.
On-Beach Water Cleaning
All Models
Place a cardboard or a carpet beside thewatercraft to prevent scratching whenturning the watercraft for cleaning.Rotating watercraft in the proper direc-tion eliminates the possibility of resid-ual water in the tuned pipe entering theengine and causing engine damage.
GS, GTS and GTI Models
Rotate the watercraft counterclock-wise (seen from rear) to its left side forcleaning.

Capsized WatercraftThe watercraft is designed so that itshould not turn over easily. Also twosponsons mounted on the side of thehull assist watercraft stability. If it turnsover, it will remain capsized.
CAUTION: Always refer to decal lo-cated on stern of watercraft.To return the watercraft upright, en-sure the engine is off, grab the inletgrate, step on bumper rail and use yourweight to rotate the watercraft.

Crank engine several times to allow wa-ter to escape from spark plug openings.
DI Models
If water does not completely go out, itmay be necessary to remove the air in-take silencer then to lean the vehicle sothat water can flow out from throttlebodies.
All Models
Spray BOMBARDIER LUBE lubricantor equivalent into spark plug holes.Crank engine again.Reinstall spark plugs. Install clean dryspark plugs if possible. Reconnect ca-bles.
Start engine normally.
Fuel-Flooded EngineWhen the engine does not start afterseveral attempts, the engine may befuel-flooded. Proceed as follows.
Carburetor-Equipped Models
Install the safety lanyard cap on its post.Ensure choke lever is completely pushedin.Depress the throttle lever at full throt-tle position and hold while starting theengine. Try several times.
RFI Models
To prevent fuel to be injected in the en-gine, proceed as follows.Remove safety lanyard from its post.Depress and hold the throttle lever atfull throttle position.Reinstall the safety lanyard cap.
DI Models
To prevent fuel to be injected and alsoto cut the ignition at the engine start-ing, proceed as follows.While engine is stopped, fully depressthrottle lever and HOLD for cranking.Crank engine several times.NOTE: A 1 second beep every secondindicates the drowned mode is active.
Carburetor-Equipped Models
As soon as the engine starts, releasethrottle lever. Do not race engine.
All Models
If it does not work:
Remove spark plug cables and con-nect them on the grounding device.
Remove spark plugs and dry them usinga rag.Cover spark plug holes with a rag.Crank engine several times. Reinstall spark plugs. Install clean dryspark plugs if possible. Reconnect ca-bles.
� WARNING
Always reconnect spark plug ca-bles at the same spark plugs wherethey come from. The cable comingout the edge of the electrical boxmust be connected to the MAGside spark plug.
� WARNING
Always use spark plug cable ground-ing device when removing sparkplugs.
� WARNING

When running the engine out of fuel,it may be necessary to remove and in-stall the safety lanyard 2 - 3 times toinitially feed the fuel system after fueltank refill.
Towing the Watercraft in WaterAll Models
Special precautions should be takenwhen towing a Sea-Doo watercraft inwater.Maximum recommended towing speedis 24 km/h (15 MPH).When towing your watercraft in water,pinch the water supply hose from theimpeller housing to the engine with alarge hose pincher (P/N 529 032 500).
This will prevent the cooling systemfrom filling which may lead to water be-ing injected into and filling the exhaustsystem. Without the engine runningthere isn’t any exhaust pressure to car-ry the water out the exhaust outlet.CAUTION: Failure to do this may re-sult in damage to the engine. If youmust tow a stranded watercraft inwater and do not have a hose pinch-er, be sure to stay well below themaximum towing speed of 24 km/h(15 MPH).Snugly install the hose pincher on thewater supply hose as shown.

Maintenance, replacement, or repairof the emission control devices andsystems may be performed by anymarine SI (spark ignition) engine re-pair establishments or individual.
Engine Emissions InformationManufacturer’s ResponsibilityBeginning with 1999 model year en-gines, PWC manufacturers of marineengines must determine the exhaustemission levels for each engine horse-power family and certify these engineswith the United States of America En-vironmental Protection Agency (EPA).An emissions control information la-bel, showing emission levels and en-gine specifications, must be placed oneach vehicle at the time of manufac-ture.
Dealer’s ResponsibilityWhen performing service on all 1999and more recent Sea-Doo watercraftsthat carry an emissions control infor-mation label, adjustments must bekept within published factory specifi-cations.Replacement or repair of any emissionrelated component must be executedin a manner that maintains emissionlevels within the prescribed certifica-tion standards.Dealers are not to modify the enginein any manner that would alter thehorsepower or allow emission levelsto exceed their predetermined factoryspecifications.Exceptions include manufacturer’sprescribed changes, such as altitudeadjustments for example.
Owner ResponsibilityThe owner/operator is required to haveengine maintenance performed tomaintain emission levels within pre-scribed certification standards.The owner/operator is not to, and shouldnot allow anyone to modify the enginein any manner that would alter thehorsepower or allow emissions levels toexceed their predetermined factoryspecifications.
EPA Emission RegulationsAll new 1998 and more recent Sea-Doo watercrafts manufactured byBombardier are certified to the EPA asconforming to the requirements of theregulations for the control of air pollu-tion from new watercraft engines. Thiscertification is contingent on certainadjustments being set to factory stan-dards. For this reason, the factory pro-cedure for servicing the product mustbe strictly followed and, wheneverpracticable, returned to the original in-tent of the design.

Throttle and Choke Cable InspectionThrottle CableDepress and release the throttle lever.It should operate smoothly and returnto its initial position without any hesi-tation. Refer to an authorized Sea-Doodealer if necessary.
Carburetor-Equipped Models
Do not activate throttle lever unneces-sarily, when engine is not running. Car-buretors are equipped with fuel accel-erator pumps. These pumps deliverfuel to the engine each time throttlelever is depressed.
All Models

Carburetor-Equipped Models
Choke CableEnsure choke cable operates smoothlyand without any hesitation from fullyopened to fully closed. When the chokelever is fully pulled, choke should be ful-ly applied. Refer to an authorized Sea-Doo dealer if necessary.
Carburetor AdjustmentCarburetor adjustment is very impor-tant to allow good engine operation andtherefore watercraft performance. Car-buretor adjustment requires technicalknowledge and experience to have thecorrect mixture supplied to the engine.CAUTION: Serious engine damagecan occur with improper carburetoradjustment.
Fuel Injection System RFI and DI Models
The fuel injection system inspectionshould be performed by an authorizedSea-Doo dealer.CAUTION: Never use injector clean-ing products. They may contain ad-ditives that could damage injectorcomponents.
All Models
Fuel and Oil FiltersThe fuel filter and the oil filter should bereplaced by an authorized Sea-Doo deal-er. Fuel system pressurization shouldbe conducted at the same time.CAUTION: An obstructed oil filterwill cause oil starvation resulting inserious engine damage.
Steering AlignmentWhen the handlebar is directed in straightahead position, the jet pump nozzleshould be in the same direction allowingthe watercraft to run in a straight line.Refer to an authorized Sea-Doo dealerif an adjustment is necessary.

General Inspection and CleaningInspectionCheck engine compartment for any dam-age and fuel/oil injection systems forleaks. Ensure all hose clamps are proper-ly secured and no hose is cracked, kinkedor presenting any other damage.
Inspect muffler, battery, fuel tank andoil reservoir fastening devices. Visuallycheck electrical connections for corro-sion and tightness.Inspect hull and jet pump water intakegrate for damage. Replace or have dam-aged parts repaired.
CleaningThe bilge should be cleaned by an au-thorized Sea-Doo dealer to remove anyfuel/oil/electrolyte deposits and mil-dew.Occasionally, wash the body with wa-ter and soap (only use mild detergent).Remove any marine organisms fromengine and/or hull. Apply non-abrasivewax such as silicone wax.CAUTION: Never clean fiberglass andplastic parts with strong detergent,degreasing agent, paint thinner, ace-tone, etc.Stains may be removed from seat andfiberglass with Knight’s Spray-Ninefrom Korkay System Ltd or the equiv-alent.Respect the environment by ensuringfuel, oil or cleaning solutions do notdrain into the waterways.

TRAILERING, STORAGEAND PRE-SEASON PREPARATION
Trailering
Check the applicable laws and regula-tions in your area concerning towing atrailer, especially the following rules:– brake system– tow vehicle weight– mirrors.Take the following precautions whentowing the watercraft:Tie the watercraft to both bow andstern (front/rear) eyelets so that it isfirmly retained on the trailer. Use addi-tional tie-downs if necessary.CAUTION: Do not route ropes or tie-downs over the seat as they couldproduce permanent damage. Wrapropes or tie-downs with rags or sim-ilar protectors where they can touchthe watercraft body.Ensure all storage compartment cov-ers and seat are properly latched.
A SEA-DOO cover can protect the wa-tercraft, particularly before driving ondirt roads, to prevent dirt entry throughthe air intake opening(s).Observe trailering safety precautions.
Launching/LoadingCAUTION: Before launching the wa-tercraft, ensure the bilge plugs arefully screwed. After loading the wa-tercraft, ensure they are removed todrain bilge.
Storage
It is recommended that the watercraftbe serviced by an authorized Sea-Doodealer for storage but the following op-erations can be performed by you witha minimum of tools.CAUTION: Do not run the engine dur-ing the storage period.
Engine DrainingCheck engine drain hose (lowest hoseof engine). Make sure there is no sandor other particles in it and that it is notobstructed so that water can exit theengine. Clean hose and fitting as nec-essary.CAUTION: Water in engine drain hoseshould be free to flow out, otherwisewater could be trapped in engine.Should water freeze in engine, severedamage will occur. Check engine drainhose for obstructions.
� WARNING
Always turn the fuel tank valve (if soequipped) to OFF position whentrailering or docking the watercraft.
� WARNING
Never tip this vehicle on end fortransporting. We recommend thatyou carry the vehicle in its normaloperating position.
� WARNING
Make sure seat is securely latchedbefore prior to trailering.
� WARNING
Because fuel and oil are inflam-mable, have an authorized Sea-Doo dealer inspect the fuel and oilsystems integrity as specified inthe periodic inspection chart.

Disconnect the water supply hose usedto cool the magneto. It features a quickconnect fitting. Press both tabs and pullfitting in order to disconnect hose.This hose is located at the bottom ofthe magneto cover beside the enginesupport.Wash the body with soap and watersolution (only use mild detergent).Rinse thoroughly with fresh water. Re-move marine organisms from the hull.

Most of the antifreeze will drain outwhen removing the hose pinchers. Usea container to recover it. DISPOSE AN-TIFREEZE AS PER YOUR LOCAL LAWSAND REGULATIONS.NOTE: Although antifreeze will mainlydrain out, the antifreeze has mixed withthe water that was possibly trapped inthe water jackets and thus preventingfreezing problems.At pre-season preparation, drain theremaining antifreeze from cooling sys-tem prior to using the watercraft.The following steps should be per-formed to provide the watercraft en-hanced protection.
Clean the bilge with hot water and de-tergent or with bilge cleaner. Rinsethoroughly. Lift front end of watercraftto completely drain bilge. If any repairsare needed to body or to the hull con-tact your authorized Sea-Doo dealer.For paint touch up to mechanical partsuse Bombardier spray paint.Reinstall vent tube support (if applica-ble).
Anticorrosion TreatmentWipe off any residual water in the en-gine compartment.Spray BOMBARDIER LUBE lubricantor equivalent over metallic compo-nents in engine compartment.
Lubricate the throttle cable with BOM-BARDIER LUBE lubricant or equivalent.
Final StepsApply a good quality marine wax to thebody.The seat and the seat extension (if soequipped) should be partially leftopened, the rear access cover (XPmodels) and storage baskets (if soequipped) should be removed duringstorage. This will avoid engine com-partment condensation and possiblecorrosion.If the watercraft is to be stored out-side, cover it with an opaque tarpaulinto prevent sun rays and grime from af-fecting the plastic components, water-craft finish as well as preventing dustaccumulation.CAUTION: The watercraft shouldnever be left in water for storage.Never leave the watercraft stored indirect sunlight.

The following chart is provided to help in diagnosing the probable source of simpletroubles. You may be able to solve many of these problems rather quickly, butothers may require the skills of a mechanical technician. In such cases, consultan authorized Sea-Doo dealer for servicing.
