X. Mr. Scott Price address the board as a representative of CCEA and the Regional TEA Representative regarding the following resolution:
Resolution adopted by the TEA Board of Directors on 3/08/2014 at the March 2014 TEA Board Meeting.
To ensure that no harm is done to Tennessee’s students, schools, or educators, the members and the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Education Association call upon the Tennessee Department of education, the Tennessee General Assembly, and the Governor to put a moratorium of no less than three years on the development and implementation of the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for Colleges and Careers (PARCC). The moratorium shall prohibit the use of or affect on any part of a student’s grade, a teacher’s evaluation score, and/or a school and district’s ratings on the State Report Card. In addition to the partial implementation of the new standards, many districts are not prepared for the technology requirements needed to properly administer the online PARCC assessment requiring more time and funding. The members of the Tennessee Education Association ask that adequate time be given to Tennessee teachers for appropriate implementation of the new Common Core standards before any assessment piece is added.

XII. Mrs. Shannon Duncan, reported on the TSBA Day on the Hill, in attendance were Gary Nester, Brett Henley and Freda Jones.
XIII. Dr. McFall gave the board a brief update on the New CCMS and discussed having a work session – special called board meeting on March 24, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. The board agreed.
