Julia Alvarez is a Dominican-American poet, novelist, and essayist. Alvarez rose to prominence with the
novels “How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents” and “Something to Declare”. Many literary critics regard her to be one of the most significant Latina writes
and she has achieved critical and commercial success on an international scale.
Impact Aid FormsAttention students—You will be receiving your impact aid forms. They MUST go home for your parents to fill out. They MUST be returned to your Advisory period
teacher by Friday October 17, 2014, This Friday. These forms mean money for our school and go
towards your education. Help us and you by bringing them back as soon as possible.

Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 3-5:15
Friday, Oct. 24 from 3- 4:15
You must have a physical and concussion training on file with Mrs. Harigan in order to try-out. Your ride must be here on time or you will be put on an activity bus.

IN HONOR OF TEEN READ WEEK PARKSIDE WILL HAVE A SCHOOLWIDE BOOK SWAP ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17TH
Tuesday, October 14th through Thursday, October 16th ,students will bring in their own books to their language arts class.
On Friday, October 17th, students will come to the Parkside Book Swap, in the library, to choose a different book to keep.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Show your support by doing the following:
• Make a $1 donation* and get a pink bracelet! (Donations taken during lunches.)
• PINK OUT Friday’s for the month of October. Wear pink shirts, socks, shoes, etc...to show your support!
*All money raised will be donated to a local cancer center
