PAWA NEWS
Quaid’s aniversary
As Pakistanis all over world today celebrate the father of nation’s anniversary
the following excerpt from his speech in August 1947 is perhaps the best one to
let the world know that the concept of enlightened moderation was always
part of Pakistan’s existence.
“If we want to make this great State of Pakistan happy andprosperous we should wholly and solely concentrate on the
well-being of the people, and especially of the masses and the
poor... you are free- you are free to go to your temples
mosques or any other place of worship in this state of
Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, caste or creed that
has nothing to do with the business of the state... in due
course of time Hindus will cease to be Hindus and Muslims
will cease to Muslims- not in a religious sense for that is the
personal faith of an individual- but in a political sense ascitizens of one state” , Address to the Constituent Assembly of
Pakistan, Karachi August, 1947
Post a message to the families of our soldiers.
The messages are on their way and hopefully would have been received by the office of the
Chief of Army Staff.

Knight’s Review: Some facts by Jawaad Farooque
As everyone these days asking about this Knight's review then let me clear some real core
questions and issues arising among students, as the stuff at Immigration website and
other sources are a bit technical for prospective students therefore I will try my best to
make it clear to all students as much as possible:
Q1. What is post-study work visa and who will be granted?
It is after study visa only for visa sub class 573, 574 which includes:
Bachelor degree
ii) Masters by course work
iii) Masters by research
iv) PhD
Q2. What are eligibility requirements?
In the last six months before applying for the visa, the applicant must have completed a Bachelor degree (or a
higher level course such as a Masters or PhD) obtained in Australia.
Graduates must also meet the Australian study requirement for a period of at least 2 academic years (92
weeks). The course should be completed in no less than 16 calendar months while holding a visa that permits
study. English language, health, character and security requirements will need to be met and evidence of
adequate health insurance for the duration of the visa will need to be provided.
Q3. What are the requirements for IELTS Score for application:
A band of 6 in each category is required.
Q4. Do applicants need to nominate an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List when applying for this
visa?
NO, applicants eligible to apply for this visa would not be required to nominate an occupation on the Skilled
Occupation List or undertake a skills assessment.
Q5. I am graduating right now so will I be eligible to apply for this visa?
Students who made their student visa applications after 5 November 2011. These students will begin to
graduate from mid-2013 onwards, so the post-study work visa arrangements are designed to be ready for
them in 2013. So from now on whoever is applying for Bach/Masters or PhD from Pakistan after this date is
falling under this category.
Q6. After I finish study and lodge application what will be the validity of post-study work visa?
After completing Bachelor degree or Masters by coursework degree in Australia international students
will be eligible to apply for a two year post-study work visa.
Graduates who have completed a Masters by research degree or a PhD in Australia will be eligible to
apply for a post-study work visa for three or four years respectively.

Q7. What about those people who lodged their visa's before 5th November 2011 for Grad and Masters
either in Pakistan or Australia
Those students who are in Australia and applying for further study visa or those students in Pakistan who
applied for Bach or higher qualification before 5th November 2011 will have to follow the old criteria for T.R /
P.R after finishing their education
Q8. Does this change affect existing student visa holders?
Certainly NOT, those students who are currently studying in Australia are still entitled to apply for the existing
Temporary Skilled Graduate visa (subclass 485). The subclass 485 visa allows students to remain temporarily
in Australia with work rights at the completion of their studies.
Q9. I already hold sub class 485 so can I apply for this visa?
No. Students will only be able to access post-study work rights once.
Q10. I am studying cookery/ Bricklaying/ Trade courses so can I apply for this visa?
No, this visa is only available for graduates who obtain a Bachelor degree or higher qualification.
Changes to government immunisation payment
The recent change in government policy was announced without consultation in November.
There is concern that it could impact on immunisation rates. Basically from 1st
July 2012 the
maternity immunisation allowance will be replaced by Family Tax benefit part A supplement,it is payable to those assessed as fully immunised. However exemptions still apply.
Pls. check out Immunise Australia’s page on frequently asked questions onhttp://immunise.health.gov.au/internet/immunise/publishing.nsf/Content/faq-related-payments#immunised
