Tri PlinthTri Plinth is a culmination project from my Spring 2018 studio class. This course focused on the exploration of housing at different scales and built up to redesigning a housing block in the Columbia Heights neighborhood in Washington D.C. A major issue at task was to in-crease housing opportunities without decreasing the neighborhood feel. To combat this I designed a mixed-use housing and commercial center with gallery and green, outdoor space. Outdoor space can be found at the sites ground floor and also on the roof of the commercial space. Additionally, to create a neighborhood feel there are a series of raised walkways connecting the nine apartment buildings.

Mushroom DesignThis project was designed during my Spring 2018 studio as a combination of previous “horizontal” and “vertical” housing projects. This four story home is a redesign of a typical urban town home. This design starts with a con-crete core that grows upward through all four levels. The core expands at alternating sides on each level to create three main living spaces with glass facades. The stark material contrast gives the home a sturdy yet light per-spective. Additionally, the unique push and pull nature of the building give the residents ample, private outdoor space that is hard to find in an urban area.
