CALENDAR: As we spring into the fourth marking period, we hope the weather catches up with the season.
On the educational front, students have been working hard, preparing for the Smarter Balanced Test. Along with all of the work done in class this year, our students are also very familiar with technology. Teachers in both 5th and 6th grade have been integrating technology and the internet into lessons utilizing iPods, iPads, laptop computers, and smartphones with their students. The BYOD program has worked amazingly well and Carrigan remains at the forefront of technology and education in West Haven.
With warm weather coming soon, I predict our students will be able to leave their books in their lockers as some great field trips are in the forecast. Our 5th grade Carrigan Field Day is scheduled for June 9th. The 6th grade Holiday Hill trip is planned for Tuesday, May 31st and our 6th Grade promotion ceremonies will take place on June 8th, 9th, and 10th – please look for information to follow on when your child will participate.
A reminder that when coming to our school for any reason, please use the front door and wait to be ‘buzzed’ into the building by a member of our friendly office staff and please have identification ready for our staff to check. This is often a good time to double check phone numbers and emergency contacts if needed. Thank you for your assistance and patience as we always look to keep student safety at the forefront of our daily activities.
Mr. Paolino, Mrs. Shirden, and I can always be reached here at school if you have questions or concerns. Wishing you a happy and healthy Spring,
Rich Weber, Assistant Principal
