Statement By Padmanabha Das (annexed to the FIR)
SP Fort Hospital
20.11.2007 19.30 hrs
The statement taken by A Ajichandran Nair, sub-inspector of Police, Fort Police
Station, as told by Padmanabha Das, 50-year old and resident of Vanchiyoor
village.
Im working as a clerk in Sree Padmanabhada Swamy temple and residing at
the above address, along with my wife Sarweshari and SreejaLakshmi. On 20.11.2007
at 6 pm, while I was driving in my Activa scooter with registration No KL01 AL6015 from Padinjare Nada to my home, in front of Fort High school, two persons
travelling on a scooter overtook me and the persons sitting on the pillion opened
a bottle and threw it on my face. I stopped my scooter suddenly and the liquid fell on
my stomach. The persons who threw acid on my body sped to the direction ofSreekandeshwaram. My shirt and dhoti were burnt due to the acid attack. I got out of
the scooter and threw away my shirt and dhoti. I found burns on the right part ofstomach, right thigh, right elbow and left hand. Soon, the people took me to the
SP Fort hospital and doctor who examined me told me that the burns are due to
acid spraying and admitted me to the hospital.
Im also Secretary of trade union of the temple employees affiliated to AITUC.
Three months ago, the court has ordered a stay on the opening of the temple vault.
But Id seen the executive officer Sashidharan and assistant executive officerSuresh Babu open the Vault Six and taken out the gold and silver from the
vault. Ive filed an affidavit before principal sub-judge stating that the officials
had opened the vaults ignoring the courts stay. Since then, the executive officer andassistant executive officer were harassing me one way or the other. I believe that
the acid attack was carried out against me with the knowledge of both the executive
officer and assistant executive officer. Had the acid fallen on my face, I wouldhave lost control of the vehicle and fallen from it. It could have caused death
or head injury. But I dont know the persons who had attacked me. I could not
recollect the number of the vehicle they have travelled. The place of occurrence is150 meters north-east of the hospital .
Ive read out the statement and acknowledge that its true and factual .
