VEHICLE SAFETYIMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Your vehicle can provide many years ofservice and pleasure – if you takeresponsibility for your own safety andunderstand the challenges that you can meeton the road.
There is much that you can do to protectyourself when you ride. You’ll find manyhelpful recommendations throughout thismanual. Followings are a few that weconsider most important.
Always Wear a Helmet
It’s a proven fact: Helmets significantlyreduce the number and severity of headinjuries. So always wear a helmet and makesure your passenger does the same. Wealso recommend that you wear eyeprotection, sturdy boots, gloves and otherprotective gear (page 3).
Make Yourself Easy to be Visible
Some drivers do not see vehicles becausethey are not looking for them. To makeyourself more visible, wear bright reflectiveclothing, position yourself so other driverscan see you, signal before turning orchanging lanes, and use your horn whenrequired, it will help others notice you.
Ride Within Your Limits
Pushing the limits is another major cause ofvehicle accidents. Never ride beyond yourpersonal abilities or faster than conditionswarrant. Remember that alcohol, drugs,fatigue and inattention can significantlyreduce your ability to make goodjudgements and ride safely.

Keep Your Vehicle in Safe Condition
For safe riding, it is important to inspect yourvehicle before every ride and perform allrecommended maintenance. Never exceedload limits, and only use accessories thathave been approved by Honda for thisvehicle. See page 5 for more details.
Don’t Drink and Ride
Alcohol and riding don’t mix. Even one drinkcan reduce your ability to respond tochanging conditions, and your reaction timegets worse with every additional drink. Sodon’t drink and ride, and don’t let yourfriends drink and ride either.
PROTECTIVE APPAREL
For your safety, we strongly recommendthat you always wear an approved vehiclehelmet, eye protection, boots, gloves, longpants and a long-sleeved shirt or jacketwhenever you ride. Although completeprotection is not possible, wearing propergear can reduce the chance of injury whenyou ride.
Followings are suggestions to help youchoose proper gear.

Be sure you and your passengeralways wear a bright color helmet withreflective strips, eye protection andother protective apparel during ride.

Helmets and Eye Protection
Your helmet is your most important pieceof riding gear because it offers the bestprotection against head injuries. A helmetshould fit your head comfortably andsecurely. A bright-colored helmet can makeyou more noticeable in traffic, as canreflective strips.
An open-face helmet offers someprotection, but a full-face helmet offersmore. Always wear a face shield or gogglesto protect your eyes and help your vision.
Additional Riding Gear
In addition to a helmet and eye protection,we also recommend:
• Sturdy boots with non-slip soles to helpprotect your feet and ankles.
• Leather gloves to keep your handswarm and help prevent blisters, cuts,burns and bruises.
• A vehicle riding suit or jacket forcomfort as well as protection. Bright-colored and reflective clothing can helpmake you more noticeable in traffic.Be sure to avoid loose clothes thatcould get caught on any part of yourvehicle.
LOAD LIMITS AND GUIDELINES
Your vehicle has been designed to carryyou, one passenger and a limited amountof cargo. When you add cargo or carry apassenger, you may feel some differenceduring acceleration and braking. But so longas you keep your vehicle well-maintained,with good tyres and brakes, you can safelycarry loads within the given limits andguidelines.
However, exceeding the weight limit orcarrying an unbalanced load can seriouslyaffect your vehicle’s handling, braking andstability. Non-Honda accessories, improper

modifications, and poor maintenance canalso reduce your safety margin.
The following pages give more specificinformation on loading, accessories andmodifications.
Loading
How much weight you put on your vehicle,and how you load it, are important to yoursafety. Anytime you ride with a passengeror cargo you should be aware of thefollowing information.
Load Limits
Following are the load limits for your vehicle:
Maximum weight capacity:170 kg (375 lbs)
Includes the weight of the rider, passenger,all cargo and all accessories.
Maximum cargo weight: 9 kg (19.8 lbs)
LOADING GUIDELINES
Your motorcycle is primarily intended fortransporting you and a passenger. You maywish to secure a jacket or other small itemsto the seat when you are not riding with apassenger.
If you wish to carry more cargo, check withyour Honda dealer for advice, and be sureto read the information regardingaccessories on page 6.
Improperly loading your motorcycle canaffect its stability and handling. Even if your

motorcycle is properly loaded, you shouldride at reduced speeds whenever carryingcargo.
Follow these guidelines whenever you carrya passenger or cargo:
• Check that both tyres are properlyinflated (page 21).
• To prevent loose items from creating ahazard, make sure that all cargo issecurely tied down before you rideaway.
• Place cargo weight as close to thecenter of the vehicle as possible.
• Balance cargo weight evenly on bothsides.
• Do not attach large or heavy items(such as a sleeping bag or tent) to thehandlebars, forks or fender.
Accessories and Modifications
Modifying your vehicle or using non-Hondaaccessories can make your vehicle unsafe.Before you consider making anymodifications or adding an accessory, besure to read the following information.
Improper accessories or modificationscan cause a crash in which your canbe seriously hurt or killed.
Follow all instructions in this owner’smanual regarding accessories andmodifications.

Accessories
We strongly recommend that you use onlygenuine Honda accessories that have beenspecifically designed and tested for yourvehicle. Because Honda cannot test all otheraccessories, you must be personallyresponsible for proper selection, installationand use of non-Honda accessories.Check with your dealer for assistance andalways follow these guidelines:
• Make sure the accessory does notobscure any lights, reduce groundclearance and banking angle, limitsuspension travel or steering travel,alter your riding position or interferewith operating any controls.
• Be sure electrical equipment does notexceed the vehicle’s electrical systemcapacity (page 81). A blown fuse cancause a loss of lights or engine power.
• Do not pull a trailer or sidecar with yourvehicle. This vehicle was not designedfor these attachments, and their usecan seriously impair your vehicle’shandling.
MODIFICATIONS
We strongly advise you not to remove anyoriginal equipment or modify your vehiclein any way that would change its design oroperation. Such changes could seriouslyimpair your vehicle’s handling, stability andbraking, making it unsafe to ride.
Removing or modifying your lights, mufflers,emission control system or other equipmentcan also make your vehicle illegal.

FUEL METER
When the gauge needle enters the red band(2), it shows the less fuel in the tank. Turnthe fuel valve to the RES position and youshould refill the tank as soon as possible.The amount of fuel left in the tank with thevehicle set upright when the needle entersthe red band is approximately.

MAJOR COMPONENTS(INFORMATION YOU NEED TO OPERATETHIS VEHICLE)BRAKESFront Brake (Disc type)This vehicle has a hydraulic front disc brake.As the brake pads wear, brake fluid leveldrops.There are no adjustments to perform, butfluid level and pad wear must be inspectedperiodically. The system must be inspectedfrequently to ensure there are no fluid leaks.If the brake lever free travel becomesexcessive and the brake pads are not wornbeyond the recommended limit.(page 65),there is probably air in the brake systemand bleeding must be done. See your Hondadealer for this service.Front Brake Fluid Level:With the vehicle in an upright position, checkthe fluid level. It should be above the MINlevel mark (1). If the level is at or below theMIN level mark, check the brake pads forwear (Page 65).

Worn pads should be replaced. If the padsare not worn, have your brake systeminspected for leaks.
The recommended brake fluid isDOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid from a sealedcontainer, or an equivalent.
Other Checks:
Make sure there are no fluid leaks. Checkfor deterioration or cracks in the hoses andfittings.
Front Brake (Drum type)
Brakes are items of personal safety andshould always be maintained in properadjustment.
The distance the front brake lever or rearbrake pedal moves before the brake startsto engage is called freeplay.
Measured at the tip of the front brake lever(1), freeplay should be maintained at:

Adjustment:
1. Front brake adjustment should bemade using the front brake-adjustingnut (2) at the front wheel.
2. Adjust the brake lever free play withthe front brake-adjusting nut. Turningthe nut clockwise will decrease freeplayand turning the nut counterclockwisewill increase freeplay.Make sure the cut-out on the adjustingnut is seated on the brake arm pin (3)after making final freeplay adjustment.

Make sure the brake arm, spring andfasteners are in good condition.

REAR BRAKE
Adjustment:
1. Place the vehicle on its center stand.
2. Measure the distance of rear brakepedal (1) moves before the brake startsto take hold.
Freeplay should be:20-30 mm (0.8-1.2 in)
3. If adjustment is necessary, turn therear brake-adjusting nut (2).
Make sure the cut-out on the adjusting nutis seated on the brake arm pin (3) aftermaking final free play adjustment.
4. Apply the brake several times and checkfor free wheel rotation after the brakepedal is released.
If proper adjustment cannot be obtained bythis method, see your Honda dealer.

1. Loosen the lock nut (2) at the lowerend of the cable. Turn the adjusting nut(3) to obtain the specified freeplay.Tighten the lock nut and check theadjustment.
2. Start the engine, pull in the clutch leverand shift into gear. Make sure the enginedoes not stall and the vehicle does notcreep. Gradually release the clutchlever and open the throttle. The vehicleshould begin to move smoothly andaccelerate gradually.
Other Checks:
Make sure the brake rod, brake arm, springand fasteners are in good condition.
CLUTCH
Clutch adjustment may be required if thevehicle stalls when shifting into gear or tendsto creep; or if the clutch slips, causingacceleration to lag behind engine speed.

If proper adjustment cannot be obtained orthe clutch does not work correctly, see yourHonda dealer.
Other Checks:Check the clutch cable for kinks or signs ofwear that could cause sticking or failure.
FUELFUEL KNOBThe three-way fuel knob (1) is on the leftside below the fuel tank.
ONWith the fuel valve in the ON position, fuelwill flow from the main fuel supply to thecarburetor.
OFFWith the fuel knob in the OFF position, fuelcannot flow from the tank to the carburetor.Turn the knob OFF whenever the vehicle isnot in use.
RES
With the fuel knob in the RES position, fuelwill flow from the reserve fuel supply to thecarburetor. Use the reserve fuel only whenthe main supply is gone. Refill the tank assoon as possible after switching to RES.Thereserve fuel supply is:
1.6 L (0.42 US gal, 0.35 Imp gal)
Remember to check that the fuel knob is inON position each time you refuel. If the knobis left in RES position, you may not noticewhen you run out of fuel with no reserve.

FUEL TANK
The fuel tank capacity including the reservesupply is:
8.0 L (2.11 US gal, 1.76 Imp gal)
To open the fuel fill cap (1), slide the fuelcap key shutter insert the ignition key (2)and turn it clockwise. The fuel fill cap willpop up and can be lifted off. Do not overfillthe tank. There should be no fuel in the fillerneck (3).
After refueling, to close the fuel fill cap, keepthe mark of front side of fuel filler cap atfront. Push the fuel fill cap into the filler neckuntil it snaps closed and gets locked. Removethe key.

! WARNINGPetrol is highly flammable andexplosive. You can be burned orseriously injured when handling fuel.• Stop the engine and keep heat,
sparks and flame away.• Refuel only at outdoors.• Wipe up spills immediately.

Use unleaded or low- lead petrol with aresearch octane number of 91 or higher.We recommend that you use unleadedpetrol because it produces fewer engine andspark plug deposits and extends the life ofexhaust system components.
NOTICE
If “spark knock” or “ pinking” occurs at asteady engine speed under normal load,change brands of petrol. If the spark knockor pinking persists, consult your Hondadealer. Failure to do so is considered misuse,and damage caused by misuse is notcovered by Honda’s Limited Warranty.
PETROL CONTAINING ALCOHOL
If you decide to use a petrol containingalcohol (gasohol), be sure it’s octane ratingis at least as high as that recommended byHonda.
Adulterated fuel not to be used. It causesdamage to the engine parts and consideredas misuse, damage caused by misuse isnot covered under Honda warranty.
! WARNING
• When certain types of petrol containingalcohol are used, problem such as hardstarting, poor performance, etc. mayoccur.
• If you notice any undesirable operatingsymptoms while using a petrol thatcontains alcohol, try another station orswitch to another brand of petrol.
• When a problem resulting from the useof petrol containing alcohol occurs,contact your Honda dealer.
ENGINE OILENGINE OIL LEVEL CHECKCheck the engine oil level each day beforeriding the vehicle.

The level must be maintained between theupper (1) and lower (2) level marks on theoil filler cap/dipstick (3).
1. Start the engine and let it idle for 3-5minutes.
2. Stop the engine and put the vehicle onits center stand on level ground.
3. After 2-3 minutes, remove the oil filtercap/dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsertthe oil filler cap/dipstick withoutscrewing it in. Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick. The oil level should be betweenthe upper and lower level marks onthe oil filler cap/dipstick.
4. If required, add the specified oil(see page 46) up to the upper levelmark. Do not overfill.
5. Reinstall the oil filler cap/dipstick. Checkfor oil leaks.

Running the engine with insufficient oilpressure may cause serious engine damage.

TYRESTo safely operate your vehicle, your tyresmust be the proper type and size, in goodcondition with adequate tread, and correctlyinflated for the load you are carrying. Thefollowing pages give more detailedinformation on how and when to check yourair pressure, how to inspect your tyres fordamage and what to do when your tyresneed to be repaired or replaced.
AIR PRESSURE
Keeping your tyres properly inflatedprovides the best combination of handling,tread life and riding comfort. Generallyunder inflated tyres wear unevenly,adversely affect handling, and are morelikely to fail from being overheated.
Over inflated tyres make your motorcycleride harshly, are more prone to damagefrom road hazards, and wear unevenly.
We recommend that you visually checkyour tyres before every ride and use gaugeto measure air pressure at least once amonth or any time you think the air pressuremight be low.
Always check air pressure when your tyresare “cold”- When the vehicle has beenparked at least three-four hours. If youcheck air pressure when your tyres are“warm” – when the vehicle has been riddenfor even a few miles- the reading will be

higher than of the tyres were “cold”. This isnormal; so do not let air out of the tyres tomatch the recommended air pressuresgiven below. If you do the tyres will beunder inflated.

This vehicle is fitted with tubeless tyre in bothwheels. Compared with ordinary tube tyre, thetubeless tyre releases slow air leak whenpunctured by a nail or other similar object. Forthis reason, even though they remain fullyinflated, it is important to regularly check thetyre for embedded objects.INSPECTIONWhenever you check the tyre pressures, youshould also examine the tyre treads andsidewalls for wear, damage, and foreignobjects:Look for:• Bumps or bulges in the side of the tyre

STARTING THE ENGINE
Always follow the proper starting proceduredescribed below.
The vehicle can also be started with thetransmission in gear by disengaging theclutch before operating the self starter.
Your vehicle’s exhaust contains poisonouscarbon monoxide gas. High level of carbonmonoxide can collect rapidly in enclosedareas such as a garage. Do not run theengine with the door open, run the engineonly long enough to move your vehicle outof the garage.
Do not use the electric starter for more than5 seconds at a time. Release the start button
for approximately 10 seconds beforepressing it again.
Do not operate the kick-starter while theengine is running as engine damage couldresult. Do not apply excessive force on thekick-starter.
Fold up the kick-starter after the kick-starteris returned to the pedal stop.
PREPARATION
Before starting, insert the key, turn theignition switch ON and confirm the following:
• The transmission is in neutral(neutral indicator light ON).
• The fuel knob is ON.

1. Pull the choke lever (1) outward to fullyON (A).
2. With the throttle closed, press the startbutton.(or use the kickstarter)Lightly depress the kick-starter untilresistance is left.Then let the kick-starter return to topof its stroke.With the throttle closed, operate the kickstarter.
3. When engine speed begins to pick up,slowly press the choke lever to offposition.

FLOODED ENGINE
(Use the start button)
If the engine fails to start after repeatedattempts, it may be flooded with excess fuel.To clear a flooded engine, turn the ignitionswitch to ON, and move the choke lever tofully OFF (B). Open the throttle fully andcrank the engine for 5 seconds. If the enginestarts, quickly close the throttle, then openit slightly if idling is unstable. If the enginedoes not start, wait 10 seconds, then followthe starting procedure.
(Use the kickstarter)
If the engine fails to start after severalrepeated attempts, it may have becomeflooded with excess fuel. To clear the engine,turn off the ignition switch and move thechoke lever to fully OFF (B). Open the throttlefully and crank the engine several times withthe kick-starter. Turn the ignition switch toON and open the throttle slightly, start theengine using the kick-starter.
RUNNING- IN
Assure your vehicle’s future reliability andperformance by paying extra attention tohow you ride during the first 500 km(300 miles).
During this period, avoid full-throttle startsand rapid acceleration.
RIDING
Review vehicle safety (pages 1-6) beforeyou ride.
Make sure the side stand is fully retractedbefore riding the vehicle. If the stand isextended, it may interfere with controlduring a left turn.
1. After the engine has been warmed up,the vehicle is ready for riding.
2. While the engine is idling, pull in theclutch lever and depress gearshiftpedal to shift into 1st (low) gear.

3. Slowly release the clutch lever and atthe same time gradually increase enginespeed by opening the throttle.Coordination of the throttle and clutchlever will assure a smooth positive start.
4. When the vehicle attains a moderatespeed, close the throttle, pull in theclutch Lever and shift to 2nd gear byraising the gearshift pedal. Thissequence is repeated to progressivelyshift to 3rd and 4th (top) gears.
5. Coordinate the throttle and brakes forsmooth deceleration.
6. Both front and rear brakes should beused at the same time and should notbe applied strongly enough to lock thewheel, or braking effectiveness will bereduced and control of the motorcyclebe difficult.
SHIFTING
Proper shifting can prevent damaging theengine and transmission.
UPSHIFTING
The upper limit speed of each gear is shownin gear range (page 10).
Upshift to a higher gear before exceedingthe upper limit speed.
Upshifting at speeds higher than the upperlimit speed can cause damage to the engine.

DOWNSHIFTING
More higher downshifting speeds may overload the engine and can cause damage tothe engine and transmission.
BRAKING
(Drum Type)
Your vehicle is equipped with mechanically-activated drum brakes. Operating the brakelever applies the front drum brake.Depressing the brake pedal applies the reardrum brake.
(Disc Type)
Your vehicle is equipped with a hydraulicallyactivated disc brake in front and amechanically- activated drum brake at therear. Operating the brake lever applies thefront disc brake. Depressing the brake pedalapplies the rear drum brake.
For normal braking, apply both the brakepedal and lever while downshifting to matchyour road speed. For maximum braking,close the throttle and firmly apply the pedaland lever, pull in the clutch lever beforecoming to a complete stop to prevent stallingthe engine.
Important Safety Reminders:
• Independent operation of only the brakelever or brake pedal reduces stoppingperformance.
• Extreme application of the brakecontrols may cause wheel lock, reducingcontrol of the vehicle.
• When possible, reduce speed or brakebefore entering a turn, closing thethrottle or braking in mid-turn maycause wheel slip. Wheel slip will reducecontrol of the vehicle.

• When riding in wet or rainy condition,on loose surfaces, the ability tomaneuver and stop will be reduced.All of your conditions, Rapidacceleration, braking or turning maycause loss of control. For your safety,exercise extreme caution when braking,accelerating or turning.
• When descending a long, steep grade,use engine compression braking bydown- shifting with intermittent useof both brakes. Continuous brakeapplication can overheat the brakesand reduce their effectiveness.
• Riding with your foot resting onthe brake pedal or your hand on thebrake lever may actuate the brake light,giving a false indication to other drivers;It may also overheat the brakes,reducing effectiveness.
PARKING
1. After stopping the vehicle, shift thetransmission into neutral, turn the fuelcock OFF, turn the handle bar fully tothe left or right, turn the ignition switchOFF and remove the key.
2. Use the centre stand to support themotorcycle while parked.
Park the vehicle on firm, level ground toprevent it from falling over.
If the vehicle is parked on a slight incline,aim the front of the vehicle uphill to reducethe possibility of rolling off the centre standor overturning.
3. Lock the steering to help prevent theft(page 27).

Viscosity grade of engine oil should be basedon average atmospheric temperature inyour riding area. The following provides aguide to the selection of the proper gradeor viscosity of oil to be used at variousatmospheric temperatures.

Used engine oil may cause skin cancer ifrepeatedly left in contact with the skin forprolonged periods. Although this is unlikelyunless you handle used oil on a daily basis,
1. To drain the oil, remove the oil fillercap/ dipstick and oil drain plug (1) andsealing washer (2).
2. Operate the kickstarter several timesto aid in complete draining of theremaining oil.
3. Check that the sealing washer (2) onthe drain bolt is in good condition andinstall the bolt. Replace the sealingwasher every other time the oil ischanged, or each time if necessary.Oil Drain Bolt Torque:30 N.m (3.0 kgf.m, 22 Ibf.ft)
4. Fill the crankcase with recommendedgrade oil; approximately:0.85 ltr. (0.9 US qt, 0.8 Imp qt)

Removal and cleaning:
When the drive chain becomes dirty, it shouldbe removed and cleaned prior to lubrication.
1. With the engine off, and carefullyremove the master link retaining clip(1) with a pair of pliers. Do not bend ortwist the clip. Remove the master link.Remove the drive chain from thevehicle.
2. Clean the drive chain in high flash-pointsolvent and allow it to dry. Inspect thedrive chain for possible wear ordamaged rollers, loose fitting links orotherwise appears unserviceable.

3. Inspect the sprocket teeth for possiblewear or damage. Replace if necessary.

Avoid cleaning products that are notspecifically designed for vehicle orautomobile surfaces.They may contain harsh detergents orchemical solvents that could damage themetal, paint, and plastic on your vehicle.If your vehicle is still warm from recentoperation, give the engine and exhaustsystem time to cool off.We do not recommend the use of highpressure water spray.
NOTICE
High pressure water (or air) can damagecertain parts of the vehicles.
Washing the vehicle
1. Rinse the vehicle thoroughly with coolwater to remove loose dirt.
2. Clean the vehicle with a sponge or softcloth using cool water.
Avoid directing water to muffler outletsand electrical parts.
3. Clean the plastic parts using a cloth orsponge dampened with a solution ofmild detergent and water. Rub the soiledarea gently rinsing it frequently withfresh water.Take care to keep brake fluid orchemical solvents off the vehicle.They will damage the plastic andpainted surfaces.
Inside of the headlight lens may be cloudedimmediately after washing the vehicle.Moisture condensation inside the headlightlens will disappear gradually by lighting theheadlight on high beam.

Finishing Touches
After washing your vehicle, consider usinga commercially-available spray cleaner/polish or quality liquid or paste wax to finishthe job. Use only a non-abrasive polish orwax made specifically for vehicle orautomobiles. Apply the polish or waxaccording to the instructions on thecontainer.
Removing Road Salt
The salt contained in the road surfacefreezing prevention medicine which a roadwas sprayed with in winter, and the seawaterbecomes the cause which rust occurs in.
Wash your vehicle by the following point afterit runs through such a place.
1. Clean the vehicle using cool water(Ref. page 75).
Do not use warm water.This worsens the effect of the salt.
4. After cleaning, rinse the vehiclethoroughly with plenty of clean water.strong detergent residue can corrodealloy parts.
5. Dry the vehicle start the engine, andlet it run for several minutes.
6. Test the brakes before riding thevehicle. Several applications may benecessary to restore normal brakingperformance.
7. Lubricate the drive chain immediatelyafter washing and drying the vehicle.
Braking efficiency may be temporarilyimpaired immediately after washing thevehicle.
Anticipate longer stopping distance to avoidpossible accident.

STORAGE GUIDEExtended storage, such as for winter,requires that you take certain steps toreduce the effects of deterioration from non-use of the vehicle. In addition necessaryrepairs should be made BEFORE storing thevehicle, otherwise, these repairs may beforgotten by the time the vehicle is removedfrom storage.
STORAGE
1. Change the engine oil.
2. Empty the fuel tank into an approvedpetrol container using a commerciallyavailable hand siphon or an equivalentmethod. Spray the inside of the tankwith an aerosol rust-inhibiting oil.
Reinstall the fuel fill cap on the tank.

To assure proper performance after storagelasting more than one month, it is importantto drain the carburetor.
WARNINGPetrol is highly flammable and explosive.You can be burned or seriously injuredwhen handling fuel.
• Stop the engine and keep heat,sparks, and flame away.
• Refuel only outdoors.
• Wipe up spills immediately.
3. To prevent rusting in the cylinder,perform the following:
• Remove the spark plug cap from thespark plug. Using tape or string, securethe cap to any convenient plastic bodypart so that it is positioned away fromthe spark plug.

8. Cover the vehicle (don’t use plastic orother coated materials) and store in anunheated area, free of dampness witha minimum of daily temperaturevariation. Do not store the vehicle indirect sunlight..
REMOVAL FROM STORAGE1. Uncover and clean the vehicle.
Change the engine oil if more than 4months have passed since the start ofstorage.
2. Check the battery voltage level andcharge the battery as required. Installthe battery.
3. Drain any excess aerosol rust-inhibitingoil from the fuel tank. Fill the fuel tankwith fresh petrol.
4. Perform all Pre-ride Inspection checks(Ref. page 31)
Test ride the vehicle at low speeds in a saferiding area away from traffic.
• Remove the spark plug from the engineand store it in a safe place. Do notconnect the spark plug to the sparkplug cap.
• Pour a tablespoon (15-20 cm³) of cleanengine oil into the cylinder and coverthe spark plug hole with a piece of cloth.
• Crank the engine several times todistribute the oil.
• Reinstall the spark plug and spark plugcap.
4. Remove the battery. Store in an areaprotected from freezing temperaturesand direct sunlight. Check the batteryvoltage and slow charge the batteryonce a month.
5. Wash and dry the vehicle. Wax allpainted surfaces. Coat chrome withrust inhibiting oil.
6. Lubricate the drive chain (page 58).
7. Inflate the tyres to their recommendedpressures. Place the vehicle on blocksto raise both tyres off the ground.

CATALYTIC CONVERTER
This motorcycle is equipped with a catalyticconverter.
The catalytic converter contains preciousmetals that serve as catalysts, promotingchemical reactions to convert the exhaustgases without affecting the metals.
The catalytic converter acts on HC, CO andNOx. A replacement unit must be an originalHonda part or its equivalent.
The catalytic converter must operate at ahigh temperature for the chemical reactionsto take place. It can set on fire anycombustible materials that come near it.Park your vehicle away from high grasses,dry leaves or other flammables.
A defective catalytic converter contributesto air pollution, and can impair yourengine’s performance. Follow theseguidelines to protect your motorcycle’scatalytic converter.
• Always use unleaded petrol. Even a smallamount of leaded petrol can contaminatesthe catalyst metals making the catalyticconverter ineffective.
• Keep your engine tuned-up.
• Have your vehicle diagnosed and replacedif it is misfiring, backfiring, stalling or otherwise not running properly.
