The first steps
Johann Matthäus Voith started as repair mechanic, initially with five employees, servicing paper mills in southern Germany.
1867 January 1st is the official day of the formation of J.M. Voith. Johann Matthäus Voith hands over the business to his son Friedrich.1870 Start of manufacture of hydraulic turbines.

2002 Tai´an, China: the pumped storage plant has a total output of 1,000 MW and is a major contract in the Asian market.
2003 Omkareshwar, India: supply of eight Francis turbines andgenerators. This hydropower station is one of the largest in India with a total output of 520 MW.
2003 Longtan, China: supply of five of the seven Francis turbines.
With a total output of 4,900 MW it is among the world´s largest hydro power plants. 2004 Laxiwa, China: award for supplying five
