THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM OF ARTSince its inception in 1965, LACMA has been devoted to collecting works of art that span both history and geography—and represent Los Angeles’ uniquely diverse population. Today, the museum features particularly strong collections of Asian, Latin American, European, and American art. As the museum prepares for the opening of the new Lynda and Stewart Resnick Exhibition Pavilion this fall, LACMA continues to transform itself into a town square for the diverse communities making up Southern California.
ART MUSEUM COUNC I L OF LACMAFounded in 1952, the Art Museum Council is LACMA’s first volunteer support council. The AMC has sponsored many special exhibitions over the years, including American Stories: Paintings of Everyday Life, 1765-1915, opening this February. It has also acquired or helped acquire some of the museum’s most important works of art, including Alexander Calder’s Hello, Girls and Ed Kienholz’s controversial Back Seat Dodge ’38. In addition to the Opening Night Gala for the Los Angeles Art Show, the AMC provides museum members and guests an opportunity to view some of Los Angeles’ finest art collections and architectural gems through its annual Art + Architecture Tour. The AMC also operates the Art Rental & Sales Gallery, which allows museum members to rent or purchase artworks for their home or office from emerging local artists.

THE PR INTS AND DRAWINGS COUNC I L OF LACMAThe Prints and Drawings Council encourages appreciation in the field of original works of art on paper. Programs include lectures, private exhibition tours, museum and gallery receptions, gallery and artist studio visits, demonstrations of printing processes, and field trips. Funds raised by the PDC throughout the year are used to acquire significant works on paper for the department. In its more than forty years of existence, the council has helped the Department of Prints and Drawings acquire some of its most important works on paper, by a who's who of great artists, including Bonnard, Rembrandt, Man Ray, and Jasper Johns.
INNER- C I TY ARTSInner-City Arts is a learning oasis in the heart of Los Angeles’ Skid Row where professional artists teach students in a real studio environment. Since its inception, Inner-City Arts has served 150,000 of the city’s mostat-risk children at no cost to the students.
Founded in 1989, Inner-City Arts works in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District to bring elementary and middle school students to the campus during the school day for instruction in the visual and performing arts. High school students participate in after-school and Saturday programs.
National, long-term research proves that students who attend Inner-City Arts’ classes show dramatic increases in statewide standardized test scores: 25% in math, 18% in reading, 8% in English proficiency. They also learn skills that are highly valued in the 21st century workforce such as collaboration, and creative and conceptual thinking. Most importantly, students who receive education in the arts are able to create a whole new vision of self–a new world of hope that includes accomplishment and belonging.
