single OmniBus product can alsosimulate a control panel or othersystem components.
OmniBus 717 modules have 4receive and 4 transmit (4R/4T)channels that support both ARINC717 and its predecessor, ARINC573. High-speed capability is pro-vided for compatibility with futuresystems. Each channel is indepen-dently configurable for Harvardbiphase or bipolar return-to-zerooperation. Superframe support in-cludes user-configurable counterlocation and number of super-frames per frame.
Applications for OmniBus prod-ucts include testing, simulation, and operational uses of avionicsdatabuses. The high channel count,multi-channel capability, and on-board PowerPC processor providethe power necessary for flightsimulators and system integrationlaboratories. An OmniBus productmay also be used as a data server
or as a stand-alone converter fromone protocol to another.
SoftwareThe easiest way to use OmniBus
717 products in a Windows® envi-ronment is with the included 717Monitor program. Users can ob-serve and record word, subframe, and superframe data in octal andbinary formats with just a fewclicks of the mouse. The intuitiveinterface makes it easy to modifysync word values and play back re-corded data files.
Alternatively, users can developtheir own software using the in-cluded BTIDriver™ API. Althougheach OmniBus product can be eas-ily configured and run with only afew API calls, the comprehensivelibrary includes a broad range offunctions for specialized needs.
An SDK is available for advancedusers who are developing softwareto run on the PowerPC.

connect computers or networks toone or more avionics databuses.OmniBus 717 refers to the ARINC717 capabilities available for allOmniBus platforms. Separate bro-chures provide information on Om-niBus platforms (PCI, cPCI, VME,USB, Ethernet) and protocols(ARINC 429/708, MIL-STD-1553).
OmniBus products are builtaround an intelligent platform thatcan host one or more protocolmodules. This flexible architectureaccommodates mixed protocols, high channel counts, and unsur-passed processing power. An on-board PowerPC® processor can beprogrammed by the user to off-loadthe host or for stand-alone opera-tion. Each module has its own DSPdedicated to protocol processing.
