Leader goals and vision
The coach’s goals for the team are set from the vision, created by the whole team.
The goals must be simple and coaches and athletes need to have a mutual understanding of them
Goals should be reviewed through the season From the mutual goals will come the team leader’s
approach to the team, and the structures and processes that are set up in line with the goals

It is based on our philosophy of sport, and our values which are illustrated in our actions.
A clear and evocative vision is central to the coach as a Leader.

New Zealand’s Black Sox Coach Don Tricker’s philosophy on coaching is “to take a holistic view as I believe that there is more to life than sport. Why we need to be clear about values…
Leadership without direction is useless. Uninformed by ideas about what is good and bad, right and wrong, worthy and unworthy, it is not only inconsistent but dangerous.
As the pace of change in our world continues to accelerate, strong basic values become increasingly necessary to guide leadership behaviour.
