• Support for parents who are leaving NI with their child for surgery
• Getting them prepared for what they may find in other centres
• Helping getting families financial assistance• Communicating admission dates for families
and consultants• Co- ordinating travel and accommodation
The easiest way I can explain my role to talk about a casestudy.
o The Baby was born in Royal Maternity on 14th August,2013
o He was born with Hypo-plastic Left Heart Syndrome
o He was only 2 days old when he was transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital
• Provided Information pack about Birmingham Children’s Hospital
• Flights (so as parents didn’t have any upfront costs)
• Accommodation (so as parents didn’t have any upfront costs)
• Text messages • Phone calls to check that accommodation
was ok and they were ok• Arranging transfer back to BELFAST
o Updating information booklets which, Sarah has been helping with
o Providing a tablet which I am developing informal presentation of other hospital to show parents
o I would value any input parent have that were both positive and negative about experiences they have had
o Booking flight and accommodation
