OVERVIEW:
WHO WE ARE :
NSIA ( Non Smoking I nternational Association ) is aNon-Profithealth organization, based in Lebanon, which works in the field of
Tobacco Control all over the world, in the aim of fighting smoking
and reducing its spreading, especially among youth, minors,
students, pregnant , inf ir m and sick.
Its a professional and dynamic Advocacy which aims to bringawareness to the people and the government about the risks of
smoking and i ts second hand effects in an effort to put an end to an
un-announced mass suicide.
It has been registered at the Lebanese Ministry of Interior underthe Nbr . 1241/2010, and aims to become a Non Government al
Organization.
WHAT WE DO :
Protect present and future generations from tobacco consumptionand exposure to tobacco smoke.
Build a network of activists and encourage them to exchange ideas,coordinate research, elaborate personal activities in their ownsociety and promote all types of anti-smoking campaigns.
Develop educational programs to fight tobacco use, especially inEducat ional I nst it ut ions.

Develop and support studies and researches that contribute to thetreatment of patients and/or provide resources to help quit
smoking, especially in developing countries.
H OW WE OPERATE :
Work hand in hand with the appropriate authorities andVolunteers to:
1-Promote the cul ture of Non Smoking2- Inst igate aggressive smoking banning laws for indoor places3- I nt roduce laws for smoking banning in out door areas

To create a Smoke Free World, by investing in Tobacco Free
Initiatives Programs and Researches, and elaborating newProjects and Activities that leads to achieve this mission, in
collaboration with Donors, Philanthropic Foundations, United
Nati ons Agencies, I ntergovernmental Organizat ions,
International Nongovernmental Organizations, Media, and the
Private Sector .

OUR OBJECTIVES:
1. Reduce the spread of the scourge of smoking in societies,especially among children, pregnant women, infirm, sick, minors
and students.
2. Protect children from effects of smoking, and urge teenagers torefrain from smoking habits, and encourage smokers to give up
through the provision of alt ernat ives which are less harmful and
more useful for human healt h.
3. Ban smoking in workplaces and public transport, public andprivate indoor venues and facilities, furthermore, prevent
smoking and sale of cigarettes on board airlines.
4. Oblige restaurants, coffee shops, clubs, and pubs to reserverespectable areas of smoke-free.
5. Prevent non-smokers from beginning to smoke and becomingaddicted t o tobacco.
6. Help smokers and those suffering from tobacco addiction to quitsmoking, successfully, through websites, activities and othereducational venues.
7. Promote the right of individuals to breathe air unpolluted bytobacco smoke.
8. Assist in the attainment of a smoke-free society all over theworld.
9. Establish in-house programs to fight tobacco use at the local,regional and international levels.
10. Enact peer teaching programs, empowering youth to defendthemselves against the onslaught of advertising and peerpressure.

11. Enact and undertake comprehensive bans on tobaccoadvertising, promotion and sponsorship, in all media avenues
and networks.
12. Implement programs to remind physicians to take a proactiverole wi th their smoki ng patients, intervening and asking them toquit.
13. Stimulate physicians to educate patients about smokingharmful and fatal effects, and work in the best and richest waysto t reat t hem.
14. Provide free medical consultations to smokers, conducted byspecialt y doctors and t herapists.
15. Organize fundraising campaigns and collect contributions,grants, donations and sponsorships of all types of materials for
the implementation of outreach programs and support for
patients attained by cancer and lung diseases caused by smoking
and suppor t all act iv i t ies set up by the associat ion.
16. Establish outreach centers fixed and mobile, local and global.17. Develop dir ect educati onal and interact ive Television and Radio
programs to fight tobacco use at local, r egional and int ernat ionallevels.
18. Raise the awareness of young people to the dangers of smokingby movie stars, artists, celebrities, and invite all of them to
volunt eer and cont r ibute to the ad awareness.
19. Establish international conferences, exhibitions, seminars,forums, lectures and awareness campaigns about smoking fatal
effects, especially in schools, universities and educational
institutions, in order to ban smoking in all schools, colleges andinstitutes.

20. Print, produce and distribute periodical publications,brochures, calendars, stickers, posters and postcards promoting
the prevention of smoking, moreover to produce publications
covering all activities of the organization and international
conferences, over and above to publish articles and studies onanti-smoking and direct risks on health in all media networks
and mainstr eam channels.
21. Support studies and researches that contribute to thet reatment of pat ients wit h smoking and/or those that create new
ideas and innovations or provide resources to quit smoking.
22. Call on young volunteers to work to reduce smoking in society,and assist the association in the organization and disseminationof i t s cult ural act ivi t ies.
23. Act to compel production companies and tobacco manufacturersto reduce the Nicotine content to 0.6 mg and Tar level to 10 mg
per cigarette, and increase the area health warning on cigarette
packets.
24. Implement pictorial tobacco warning labels or pictograms oncigarette and tobacco packets and packages that covers at least30 to 50 percent or more of the display areas, to increase
thoughts about the harms of smoking.
25. Ban misleading and deceptive Terms on cigarette packagingsuch as L ight , Low-tar and Mi ld.
26. Str engthen tobacco cont rol legislati on and regulati ons affect ingfactors such as second-hand smoke, tobacco-related pricing,
label ing, adver t ising and sponsorship.
27. Adopt or maintain high taxation policies aimed at reducingtobacco consumpt ion.
28. Combat Illicit trade in tobacco products which requiremonitoring, documenting and controlling product movement as

well as including origin and destination information onpackaging plus enacting legislation with appropriate penalties
and remedies.
29. Work on enforcing laws and regulations and take actions thatprohibit smoking in public places and / or work on updates inaccordance wi th i nt ernat ional t reat ies and agreements as wel l as
international laws against smoking, and urge the authorities to
increase import dut ies on cigaret tes and tobacco products.
30. Join and cooperate wit h t he Wor ld Health Organizat ion to fightsmoking and to support all its activities with a view to wider
dissemination of health education on the dangers of smoking
worldwide.
31. Cooperate with the worlds Non Profit and Non GovernmentalOrganizations, unions, associations and councils, trade unions,
entities and groupings and committees of Local, Arab and
International similar, exchange of experience and support the
pr incipl es and common object ives.
32. Organize a contest for the best idea or design which can spreadthe cul ture of smoki ng prevent ion and fight against i t .
33. Organize concerts, festivals, special events and all types ofact ivi t ies that cont r ibut e to the reduct ion of smoki ng prevalence
and control, with profits devoted to support the objectives of the
organization.
