EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This project has been done at NGO. Nisarg community science centre is at
Gandhinagar. In December 1997 the Gujarat Council of Science and technology of
Gujarat Government has recognized as district science centre of Gandhinagar.
In so many schools there is no such facilities system that students performs practical of
science in their schools according to prescribe in there text book of science. That is a
main reason they couldnt properly under stood the basic principles of science.
Interested science students are actively taking part in science practical. The Centre has
well-equipped laboratories in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and
Computers, which are open for all. Every Sunday, under the Sunday Science'
programme, students, teachers can perform experiments related either to the school
curriculum or even outside of it. Experts from the Centre provide guidance wherever
and whenever required. Students as well as the community can freely explore on their
own and discover for themselves a whole new world of science in exhibition.

Biology and Chemistry. In this program student from standard 5 to 10 comes to perform
and learn the experiments that they are having in their books and other. The aim of the
activity is to educate students with Learning by Doing method that they are not getting
in schools. In a year about 40 Sundays are allocated for Sunday science club program.

Workshops
Model Rocketry Workshop
These workshops aim to train students in the designing of model rockets. Students deals
with the principal of rocket and make different designs to get maximum hight. Students
knows process of fabrication and working of the rockets and their engines. Students make
their models/designs in group or individually and launch. They measures the hight of the
rocket using trigonometry and the highest height gainer gets awarded.

Aero modeling Workshop
In aero modeling club and workshop children makes model aircrafts with the raw
materials which is easily available. They can know the basic principals of flight, how
airplanes can fly? And how aerofoil works. They make models with paper and the scale
models with BALSA wood. Our volunteers from Aeronautical engineering and Pilots
explains the children about the aerodynamics principals. We have made aircraft with
methanol engine. Our resource persons explains children their aircraft designs and show
them its flight. We also conduct public Air shows where community can see and know
the aero models.

can know the tricks to do mathematical operations fast. Children solves mathematical
puzzle designed to test skills. The tricks and the mathematic of solving operations in
seconds also helps children in their studies. The geometrical shapes are made by children
that helps them to know the mathematical equations and their shapes.
Fun with Physics
Fun with Physics workshop is for children and teachers. To understand the things
happenings around our life with simple physics. Physics principal can be easily learnt by
students with help of simple models. They are explained about the basic physics around
us like gravity, motion, effect of temperature on characteristics of metal and the physics
of simple machines, mass with different models. Children make models to understand the

Kitchen Chemistry
Kitchen: a room or part of a room or building in which food is prepared and cooked.
Generally we know it as above definition but we can say that its a laboratory. Every
activity or process of cooking has a scientific reasons. Participants knows this reasons
like why pressure cooker is more efficient? how bacteria can help in cooking? They can
know how food can be preserved to store for long time using household chemicals. They
are also awarded to save the energy using solar cookers. Women shares their recipes and
techniques' to use Solar Cookers. They are also guided to buy solar cookers at subsidy
rates.

cooking, saving energy, using solar cooker
Science model making workshop
The NCSC has been helping out students to perform experiments with models and by
making them. This programme is conducted in vacations. Students are explained the
principals of the science with the simple models. They make their own models like
periscopes and hovercrafts to understand its principal of working. This programme has
been most beneficial to school students in fulfilling their school projects .

Programs for Teachers
Success of the educational process depends on the quality, commitment and expertise of
the teachers. This dependence is further enhanced due to the growing as well as changing
needs of the children and the frequent changes in curriculum and teaching methodology.
Therefore, the training of teachers themselves becomes critical.
For popularization of Science and Technology teachers are good medium. They can
prepare students for the non co-curriculum activities we organize such programs for
teachers.

Environmental Programs
Environmental Education Programs are designed for those intending to teach in publicand private schools, institutions of higher education, nature centers, outdoor education
programs, parks and recreation programs, government programs.
Emerging scientific research drew new attention to existing and hypothetical threats to
the environment and humanity. An environmental issue is the negative aspects of human
activity on the biophysical environment. Environmentalism, a social and environmental
movement that started in the 1960s,
We are working for the awareness in the students, teachers and different groups of
community about the environmental issues and conservation. We conduct different
activities in schools as well as on special occasions.
Environmental Issues:
Climate change - Global warming, Energy conservation, Renewable energy, Efficient
energy use , Renewable energy commercialization, Land pollution, Light pollution ,
Noise pollution, Acid rain , Air pollution, Plastic waste, recycling, Ozone layer depletion .

Since the first Clean Up the World campaign in 1993 the improvements achieved due to
the efforts of millions of concerned volunteers around the world have been astounding.
Examples of community-led Clean Up the World activities include:
Recycling and resource recovery
Tree planting
Education campaigns
Water reuse and conservation
Competitions
Exhibitions
Fix up projects.
While participants are encouraged to hold environmental events on or around CUWWeekend (always the 3rd weekend in September), Clean Up the World is also designed
to provide support to groups undertaking activities throughout the year.
Clean Up the World is associated with the Department of Public Information of the
United Nations and is supported by, and collaborates with, a range of partner

Baal Urja Rakhshak Dal (BURD)
The Bal Urja Rakshak Dal (BURD), 'teams of child energy guards', program was initiated
in 2004-05 by Gujarat Energy Developement Agency (GEDA, Govt. of Gujarat). The
objective of the program, now in its fifth year, is to mobilize children as Urja Rakshaks,
energy guardians, who will take on - the challenge to motivate responsible, rational, and
restrained use of energy in their homes, schools and community by encouraging right and
honest energy choices. The program objective is to tap the children's potential as
persuasive and powerful agents of change in their immediate community. The young
energy guardians reach out to the community to promote best practices in energy
conservation, impart knowledge about energy efficient technologies, campaign for
renewable energy alternatives, and advocate ethical use of energy. They endeavor to
highlight linkages between our present lifestyle: rapid industrialization, urbanization, consumerism and growing energy and resource consumption and its impact on our
natural resources, climate and environment. Their credo is 'save energy, save money, save
earth'. The program strives to empower Urja Rakshaks with the understanding that the
power of change lies with the individual; even small, simple and seemingly insignificant
change-encouraging actions, when repeated diligently with tireless consistency, grow into
dominant trends that can transform our world with an amazing 'fractal power'.
Nisarg Community Science Centre is implementing agency of BURD. We are working in
4 districts Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar and Kheda covering 230 primary and 230
secondary schools in BURD project.

SUGGESTIONS
Promotion of the NGO should be made through internet and print media so that
they can obtain more fund also.
NGO is dependent upon govt. grant, so they should try for private fund also.
They should conduct alumina meet once in a year and try to encourage past
student to help present students by way of finance, guidance, etc.
Various foundations and companies provide funds to such NGOs. They should
approach them for gathering of funds.
They should approach to companies for the scholarship of the students studying
there.
They should develop one commercial department where students can work after
their successful completion of studies. So that they can become self dependent
and live their life like we are.
