Human Resources Division
Saltworks Technologies Inc.
Canada (Nationwide)
Dear Human Resource Division,
Please consider my application for a chemical and process engineer (Jr.) EIT at Saltworks
Technologies Inc., as posted on Nov 15, 2016 on the University of British Columbia career
service website. I will soon be graduating from UBC with a Bachelor of Science degree in
chemistry. I was pleased to learn that you provide services to the Canadian Navy, a branch of
government in which I have previously worked as a chemistry co-op student.
As you can see on my enclosed resume, I spent eight months from May to December 2015
working for Ballard Power Systems as a failure analysis engineer through UBC’s co-op program.
Through my employment, I was responsible for managing several failure analysis investigations
specific to the Air-Cooled FC-Gen®-1020 ACS product line. As a direct result of my high level
of skill and interest, I was quickly given the opportunity to gain experience with additional
analytical equipment such as a thermogravimetric analyzer and a BET pore surface analyzer.
This experience, combined with other co-op experience has taught me valuable skills such as
self-motivation, mechanical and technical skills, and verbal and written communicational skills.
As an amateur athlete, I understand the need for the ability to perform well under pressure.
Moreover, my experience as the captain of my pervious soccer team has taught me leadership
and the ability to work well with a team.
I have worked hard throughout my undergraduate education to gain as much skills through
relevant experience as possible. My skill set and interests make me a great fit as a candidate for a
chemical and process engineer (Jr.) EIT at Saltworks Technologies Inc.
I hope to meet with you at your earliest convenience to further discuss my qualification for
this position. If my background meets your needs, please phone (778) 888 0112 or email
Sincerely,
Nicolas Peressin
