1. India to launch clean energy equity fund of up to bn
The India government and three state-run firms will jointly set up an equity fund of up $ 2 billion for renewable energy companies to tap in to help New Delhi meet its clean energy goals, two government sources told retuterns.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target of raising India’s renewable energy target to 175 gigat watts by 2022, more than five times current usages part of the fight against, climate change by the world’s third-biggest greenhouse gas emitter and to supply power to all of the country’s 1.3 billion people.

2. Centre gives 5 lk.cr to link east India with gas grid.
In a move that could boost natural gas supplies toeastern states, the cabinet committee on EconomicAffairs (CCEA) on Wednesday approved viability gap(40% capital gront) amounting to Rs 5176 Crore of theEstimated capital cost of 12940 crore to GAIL forImplementing the 2539-km Jagdishpur-Haidia andBokaro Dharma Gas pipeline (JHBDPL) project.
The Phulpur-Haldia-Ranchi-Dhamra pipeline, earlierknown as Jagdishpur-Haldia line is to be completed by2018-19. However, GAIL’s existing pipeline network isferrying gas at less than 50% capacity and concernsOver costs have made the firm wary. Laying thepipeline and getting new consumers is pivotal for GAILas well as to sell around six million tonnes of gas itWould be importing from the US beginning 2018.
