Faisal Ali Al-Muhana won the grand prize in the Australian student art
competition held at Crowne Plaza Hotel on Tuesday, organized by the Australian Embassy in Kuwait in collaboration with Kuwait Times.
Along with Muhana, two other special need students - Mousa Abdalaziz Ahmed and Haya Abdalaziz Al-Shaya - won the second and third prizes respectively. Although there were many on the list, Al-Nebras took home three major award.
Mousa’s father Ahmed told Kuwait Times he is big fan of his son and that his son keeps making their family proud. “He works hard for it. I encourage him every day to be active and enthusiastic,” he said. “I always remain positive around him. When he was little, he used to draw in the sand - now he does so on a canvas,” said Ahmed.
He explained that despite his autistic condition, his son understands Arabic. “He uses his special abilities to communicate,” he added. He said that his son likes strings and bright colors. “He
likes the color of acrylic paints because they have a really strong glossy color. He’s a very imaginative boy. He took a course in painting, and then shifted to creating video games,” he said.
The parents of Haya, who is a special child, were also very proud. “She is only seven years old, but her imagination is really brilliant,” said her mother. “She is very creative and active.
She enjoys holding brushes and crayons. She’s very artistic and I’ll be supporting her unconditionally,” she added.
