Lehi,UT,April18,2019–CivicaRx,anewnot-for-profitcompanythatwasestablishedtohelpstabilizethesupplyofessentialgenericmedications,hasopeneditsnewheadquarters,locatedat2912ExecutiveParkwayinLehi,UT.JoiningtheCivicaRxteaminagrandopeningceremonyandribboncuttingwereUtahGovernor,GaryHerbert;U.S.CongressmanBenMcAdams(UT);IntermountainHealthcareCEO,Dr.MarcHarrison;UniversityofUtahSeniorDirectorDrugInformationServices,ErinFox;andCivicaRxChairmanoftheBoardandthe“brainchild”ofCivicaRx,DanLiljenquist,whoisalsoSVPofStrategyatIntermountainHealthcare.U.S.SenatorsMittRomneyandMikeLeeofUtahprovidedcongratulatoryvideoremarks. Lehi,referredtolocallyas“SiliconSlopes,”waschosenbecauseitiscentrallylocatedamidUtah’smajoruniversitiesandhasbecomeahubforUtah’sstart-upandtechcommunity,whichwillenableCivicaRxtodrawonlocalexpertiseandtalent.TheLehiofficewillhouseapproximately40peoplesoonandexpansionopportunitiesinLehiareexpectedtobringtheofficetofourorfivetimesthatsizewithinthreetofiveyears.CivicaRxexistsinthepublicinterestasanon-profit,non-stockcorporationfocusedonreducingchronicgenericdrugshortages,whichhavenegativelyimpactedpatientcareforoveradecade.ItwasfoundedbyleadingUShospitalsystemsconcernedaboutdrugshortagesandphilanthropicorganizationspassionateaboutimprovinghealthcare.“TogetherwecelebratethereasonwhyCivicaRxexists,inpurposeandinbrickandmortar,andthatistodowhatisinthebestinterestofpatientsbystabilizingthesupplyofgenericmedications,”saidMartinVanTrieste,CivicaRxCEO.“Drugshortagesstrainhospitalstaff,leadtodelayedsurgeriesandsub-optimaltreatmentsforpatients,andcanleadtounpredictablepriceincreasesthatresultinbudgetaryinstabilityinhospitals.”
