Division of ILS mainly focuses on:
new technologies and development trends on the Internetcompetitive intelligence, information literacy and social informaticsinformation sciencedevelopment of soft skills in information and library studiessupport of the innovation of new online educational applications

It has been accredited at the Faculty of Arts (Philosophy) since 1991 (and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year)
It offers three programs of studies: three-year Bachelor's and two-year Master's degree programs and life-long education in full-time as well as combined forms
It has more than 400 active students It is the main and the most successful researcher of a number of
projects from OP EC (Czech Ministry of Education) and from Public Library Information Services Grants
It actively supports more than 20 partner and student projects within the field

About NAKLIV
NAKLIV Is European project authorized within the Operational Program Education for Competitiveness (under The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports ) and it is guaranted by the Division of Information and Library Studies, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University.
The main goal of the project is to establish informal partnership of institutions (libraries) which are dealing with information literacy and which have decided to gain profits from the mutual cooperation.
The aim of the project is to found the net (cluster) and to tie up the functional cooperation between all participating institutions. The institutions involved in the project have wide experiences with information education, but all their activities in this field have individual character.

About KPI (Information Literacy Course)
KPI is completely e-learning course created in 2007 by students and lecturers of the Division of Information and Library Studies
KPI is optional course, credit-evaluated, available for all Masaryk’s University students on each spring term.
The main goal is to extend and improve the ability to work with information which is one of the basic academic skills and to develop the information literacy with the help of interactive materials.

KPI 2 Creative work with information
Course Creative work with information is supporting the thematic area of the development of information literacy of students. It continues and complements the traditional topics of work with information. The course has started in 2010 with first 20 students and has the same features as KPI I. Nowadays is the registration open for 100 students.The main topics are:
