• Coral was commonly thought to protect people from evil spirits among Romans and Greeks. You will hear a few myths from them in a short time.(Note: Myths are Legends,with a different name.)

• Coral was thought to protect children from diseases and “evil spirits” in Greek society, while in Roman (society) it was the same,with some more protection from more stuff,such as curing wounds from snakes and arachnids, (scorpions specifically) and could supposedly identify diseases.

• Some people believed this is how coral was formed.
• This myth is about a sea nymph named Coral that wants to marry Poseidon, but breaks one of his laws to almost get what she wanted. She is turned hard and a year later, she had turned to coral and spread across the ocean floor.
Perseus and MedusaPerseus and Medusa
This myth is a bit different:Perseus had to “dispose” of Medusa for a king.He was able to do this but before he returned to the king,he saved someone.Going to wash his hands,he lay down Medusa’s head on some seaweed and unknown to him,Medusa’s blood spilled on the seaweed,it hardening on it,the seaweed,and somehow, it spread and turned to coral.
