Subal & Family
A Simple Family In Need
New Stem Cell Technology
offers great hope
Subal Prabhu
•His Grace Subal Krishna
Das is a very simple, hard-
working and honest man.
He is now aged 53.
Subal Prabhu• I have known him
since @1990. He used to
work as the gardener in
the ISKCON (Hare Krishna)
Temple of Lord Jagannath
in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Subal Prabhu
• He is a disciple of HH
Jayapataka Swami Maharaj.
Subal Prabhu
•He would always
be at mangalarati at 4.30
am daily (till caring for his
son prevented him from
continuing this practice).
Subal Prabhu
•Always smiling, humble
& ever-ready to do any
service, everyone who
knows Subal prabhu
loves him!
Subal Prabhu
•Born in very humble
circumstances, he only
had a few years of
primary school education.
His first marriage
unfortunately
failed, and later
he re-married Letchumi
Mataji, who also hails from
a simple family.
• In 1995, they had a
beautiful son
whom they
named
Dananjaya.•Naturally, they showered
all their love upon him.
•Dananjaya was an
active, healthy child.
But when he was 6, he
began falling often and
showed signs of weakness
in his limbs.
•Sadly, a year later,
he was diagnosed
with a rare hereditary
genetic disorder called
Duchenne Muscular
Dystrophy.
•This disorder causes
all the muscles of
the body to waste
away, slowly weakening
with time.
•There is no known cure.
•Subal carried him to
school & back daily
until it became too
strenuous for him to
continue while managing
his demanding work at the
same time.
•There is no known cure
for Duchenne Muscular
Dystrophy but there are
various therapies to
strengthen the muscles
and/or slow down the
degeneration.
•His parents naturally try
every type of treatment
(ayurvedic etc.) & every
type of food supplement
etc. that they can afford.
•Many years ago, with
Subal’s excellent cooking
skills, they started a small
Krishna-prasadam food
stall in KL, Brickfields (Little
India), near KL Sentral.

• They start
work by 5
am daily,
preparing
breakfast
for their
customers.
• Subal prabhu is well-known
for lovingly & generously
serving Krishna Prasadam
with a smile to all who
come to his stall, providing
a vital service for the
Vaishnava community in KL.

•There are many other
food shops nearby.
•Getting steady workers is
a big challenge –
frequently they go away
from the hard work to
some easier job.
•Prices are very
competitive and
the profit
margin, small.
•Subal does the best he can
to meet all these
challenges, depending on
Lord Krishna’s mercy.
•They work very hard
and live in very
humble circumstances
in a rented room just
opposite their rented
food stall.
•Caring for their child
in all respects in
between keeping up
the business takes up
all their time and
energy.
•Subal & Letchumi
have spent all the
savings from their hard-
earned money on their
son’s treatment.
•As loving parents,
I think they suffer
more than their
darling child. They can’t
help but do their very
best to give him the best
quality of life possible.
• In recent years, with
financial help of generous
well-wishers, Dananjaya
spent more than 2 years in
India (Tamil Nadu, Kerala &
Karnataka) undergoing
different treatments.
•While he was in India,
every 6 months or so,
Subal would leave the
business in Letchumi’s
hands & to go to India and
spend some time with him.
•Some of these
treatments did give
him a little more
strength and
helped reduce his
suffering.
2 years ago in India Now (2013)
•There is no known
cure, so treatment
and exercise must
always continue.
•Recently, as the disease
progresses with his age,
Dananjaya has weakened
so much that he can’t turn
himself over while sleeping,
can’t feed himself, nor
bathe himself.
•This takes a great toll on
his parents as they too are
growing older. Even their
sleep is broken: several
times each night they have
to help turn him over.
•They recently heard of
some very good results
from stem cell therapy, a
new technology which
offers some hope for
persons with this
condition.
•Please see
www.neurogen.in for
details and testimonies
about the treatment.
•Some of these did give
him a little more strength
and helped reduce his
suffering.
•There is no known cure,
so treatment and exercise
must always continue.

•Some recipients of this
therapy have had up to
50% improvement in
their condition.
•This gives great hope
for the parents that
this treatment may
help improve the
quality of all their lives.
• If he could just sit up
and down by himself, or
feed or bathe by himself,
it would be such a great
relief for them.
• It is naturally heart-
rending for the parents
to simply watch their
darling son suffering
thus right before their
eyes. They have to keep
trying their best for him.
•They are very sincere,
honest, hard-working
people, doing their very
best to care for their
son, who means
everything to them.
•A friend helped commu-
nicate with Neurogen
Institute in Mumbai about
the family’s limited finance
& they generously gave a
discount of about 26%.
