9. Evaluation is a major device for segregating the students into the classes as
advanced, average and slow learners. The college strictly adheres to the SPP
University‟s rules and regulation and accordingly follows annual, semester and
choice based credit system to different courses. Broadly, evaluation can be divided as
internal and external. Continuous comprehensive internal evaluation system offers
the subject teacher at a glance, the students‟ performance. The teachers have
modified their teaching and or developed teaching techniques for the advanced,
average and slow learners. The college has constituted Internal Squad for prohibiting
unfair means in examinations. Internal and External examination are conducted with
strict adherence to university norms. In the last two years the college has forwarded
many unfair means cases to SPP University for bringing transparency in the
examination.

• In our college there is a special committee for taking the feedback of the teaching faculty by
the student. Mostly this activity is held twice in the academic year. Student gives feedback
of the teacher whole over the Academic year. Principal and that committee chairman gives
report to that particular teacher. This teacher makes the improving in the educational activity.
• Feedback from Students on Curriculum:
Feedback on course content and its applications are collected from Students at the beginning
of the year. Responses on the applicability of the courses are collected from the students by
the IQAC. The cell then analyzes the feedback to find out students complaints and
suggestions. The findings are then communicated to the Board of Studies.
• Feedback from stakeholders in enriching the curriculum:
Stake holders demanded that alumni of the college working in a different industries should
conduct lectures for guiding the current students for placement.
Feedback on the college teachers is collected every year. The teachers who are below
average are informed to improve their teaching and those who have extraordinary
performance are appreciated in different meetings.

Best Practices: Best Practice I: Arranging College Sports Activity throughout the Year
Goal:
To inculcate the team spirit among the students
To encourage the students for participation in spots
To foster the values of discipline and affinity
To determine the sport potentials of rural students
The Context:
The curriculum is wider term. It encompasses academic, co-curricular and sports activity that
students undergo. However, the present university curriculum framework gives very little
scope for overall development of students. Sports activity has not been given any special
credit in the university evaluation of students. Hence, the college authority has resolved to
arrange annual sports activity throughout the year.
The Practice:
The college arranges sports activity in various individual as well as group games viz.
running, long jump, high jump, kho-kho, cricket, discus throw, javelin throw, hammer throw,
etc. In the beginning of the academic year Physical Director prepares his annual plan of
sports in line with academic calendar of the college.
Notice stating the schedule of sports is issued in the month of August. Students are
encouraged by teachers to participate in games. Having enrolled the students in different
sport activities, training and practice programme are arranged well in advance. During this
stage Physical Director, notes the hidden talents of students and advises them to continue the
practice in a particular sport suitable to him/her.
The annual sports activity is arranged during afternoon session after the classes are over.
Many times, coaches, experts are invited for guidance or as referee. The competition in
various sports activity is arranged and first three students in rank are selected. These rank
holders are felicitated in annual certificate distribution ceremony.
The rank holders are also given opportunity to participate in intercollegiate and university
level sport.
Evidence of Success: The success of the practice is evidenced by:
Appreciation of the students by the parents and other stake holders.
Around 300 participants from different classes participate in the annual sports.
Many students have clenched glory to the college by achieving ranks and prizes at
university, state and national level sport.
The sports activity also helps the students to develop the attitude to maintain discipline in
the college premises and in the class room teaching hours.
Problems Encountered and Resources Required:
Girls students hesitate to participate in the sports activity. Parents are not willing to send them to
participate outside the village.

Best Practices:
Best Practice II: Developing Research Laboratory for Faculty and Students
Goal:
To inculcate the research attitude among the faculty and students
To increase participation of the students in research
To introduce the students and the faculty with the new trends in research
To develop interest among students regarding innovations
To promote the progression rate to higher education
The Context:
It was observed by the college authority that students coming from rural backdrop have little
taste for science. The college is fortunately located near MPKV, Agriculture University. It is
one of the reputed Agriculture Universities in India. However, the students of college due to
no exposure to research have not availed benefits of the same.
The Practice:
The college have developed a separate laboratory for research. The laboratory avails of the
following facilities to students:
1. Fuming hood to carry out hazardous chemical reactions
2. Rotary Vacuum Evaporator for solvent recycling
3. Microwave Oven to green reactions
4. U.V. Cabinet to monitor reaction using TLC
5. Suction Pump for filtration purpose
6. Freezer
7. Departmental Library Resources
8. Computers with Internet Facility
These facilities are not made available to students and faculty in the regular laboratories.
Moreover students can visit the laboratory in their free hours and can do experiments for
research.
Their findings are maintained in separate files for future references. Faculty can guide the
students after the classes. Students can clarify their doubts and queries about many research
topics.
The use of internet before, during and after the practical, determines if the research is leading
on the right direction or not. The books in the library has been the ready reference for the
researchers to clarify different ideas that pose as obstacles during research and helps to save
time.
Evidence of Success: The success of the practice is evidenced by:
Appreciation of the laboratory by the parents and other stake holders.
Around 150 students visit the research laboratory every day.
Students participation in Research competitions like Avishkar and Anveshan have
considerably increased.
One student stood second in rank at Anveshan Research Competition at national level.
AQAR 2017- 2018 of Arts, Commerce and Science College, Sonai Page 51
Problems Encountered and Resources Required:
The laboratory needs modern equipment to be installed for better result
Research journals needs to be made available in the Laboratory.
The research laboratory needs to develop ties with the industry in the vicinity.
The industries in the vicinity are not willing to come to the rural side.
