standards of the applicable testing agency. All penetrations
through rated walls must be sealed, firestopped, etc. So as to
maintain the noted rating.
D. In all cases, the partition with the greater fire rating shall

E. Provisions shall be made at all full height nonbearing walls for
1-inch vertical movement of the building structure without transfer
of compressive loads to wall. Fill irregularities between top of
wall land deck above with fire stopping insulation or firestopping
materials as required to meet fire rating of respective
walls.
F. Scribe gypsum board of walls and partitions to irregularities of
deck above. Seal tightly around any penetrations.
G. Locate gypsum wallboard control joints so there are no
continuous runs longer than 25'-0". Coordinate location of joints
with architect.
H. Interior walls where sound batts are indicated are acoustic
walls, and should be sealed accordingly. Maintain specific STC
ratings where noted. Walls enclosing restrooms and private offices
shall always be insulated to prevent sound transmittance.
I. Fire rated walls where sound attenuation blankets are indicated
shall utilize unfaced resin and mineral-fiber blankets complying
with the UL assembly and rating indicated in the contract
documents.
J. Where steel stud walls do not extend to structure, provide brace
at centerline of door openings.
K. Wall types do not show blocking or bracing within the wall. The
contractor is responsible for anticipating where blocking and
bracing will be required to meet the design intent. Certain types
of blocking (such as untreated wood) may not be allowed by code to
be used in all types of construction. Confirm with architect that
planned blocking methods are acceptable. Locations for blocking
include, but are not limited to: - wall-mounted counters and
cabinets - wall-mounted accessories and equipment - door hold-open
devices, closures and stops - toilet room partitions and

A. Coordinate all demolition/phasing efforts with the architect,
engineer and owner's representatives. Every effort shall be made to
minimize disruption of adjacent operations and to ensure public
safety and safe working conditions. Excessive noise or vibration
shall be pre- approved and coordinated with the owner's
representative.
B. Coordinate with the owner any pre-approved disruption and
verification of service within the existing building so as to
minimize the disruption of service.
C. Provide temporary dust partition protecting access enclosures
where noted and as directed by the owner or architect around all
areas of work to prevent the spread of construction debris and
dust. Temporary partitions to be constructed prior to start of the
demolition work. Isolate any demolition/construction work from the
general public and maintain means of egress throughout the
work.
D. Maintain a secure, weather-tight enclosure at the exterior of
the existing building throughout the demolition/construction
portion of the work in that area. Building security shall be
coordinated with the owner.
E. Verify all existing conditions, dimensions, and elevations and
notify the architect-engineer of any discrepancies.
F. Remove in their entirety all existing walls, doors, millwork,
plumbing fixtures, etc. As required to execute the
demolition/construction work described by the
architect-engineer.
G. Remove all demolition materials from the site unless noted
otherwise. The owner shall reserve the right to salvage any
materials.
H. Provide protection for all existing building materials and
equipment from damage due to any demolition or construction-related
incident performed under this contract.
I. Repair or replace any walls, floors, or equipment damaged as a
result of demolition or construction to match existing finish
and/or condition.
J. The contractor shall coordinate with the architect-engineer any
materials to be reused and will be responsible for verifying and
maintaining the functional and aesthetic integrity of the
materials.
K. Verify and maintain the location of existing power,
communication and data cables so as not to inadvertently interrupt
the continuity of their service.
L. Patch all floor and ceiling penetrations resulting from removal
or rerouting of new or existing piping, ductwork, conduit, etc...as
required to maintain fire separations. Finish as required for new
or existing adjacent surfaces.
M. Cap all disconnected mechanical piping lines within the wall or
floor. Patch and finish as required to match new or existing
adjacent surfaces.
N. See MEP drawings and notes for further sequencing and scope of
work. O. Avoid any disturbance of soils within the zone of
influence around existing footings and floor
slabs as directed by soils engineer. P. Remove portions of existing
concrete slabs as required for new mechanical, electrical
and/or
plumbing work. Coordinate locations and sizes with mechanical,
electrical and/or plumbing installers. Patch concrete slabs to
match existing. Install vapor barrier prior to pouring slab.
Q. Contractor to remove all unnecessary or abandoned piping,
conduit and wiring that is accessible without additional

THIS MANUFACTURER & FIXTURE CONSTITUTES THE 'BASIS OF DESIGN'.
LISTING OF ALTERNATE MANUFACTURER'S NAMES DOES NOT IMPLY ACCEPTANCE
OF THEIR STANDARD PRODUCT. MANUFACTURERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
PROVIDING FIXTURES THAT ARE EQUAL IN ALL RESPECTS TO THE 'BASIS OF
DESIGN' FIXTURE.

E. PROVIDE LABOR & EQUIPMENT FOR FOCUSING OF ADJUSTABLE
FIXTURES & PRESETTING OF LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEMS. FOCUSING
& PRESETTING SHALL BE DONE IN THE PRESENCE OF THE OWNER &

GENERAL NOTES:
A. MATRIX INDICATES DESIRED CONTROL SCHEME AND PROGRAMMING FOR EACH
SPACE. REFER TO LIGHTING FLOOR PLANS FOR LOCATIONS, TYPES, AND
QUANTITIES OF FIXTURES AND CONTROL DEVICES.
B. BASIS OF DESIGN: nLIGHT BY ACUITY LIGHTING CONTROLS OR APPROVED
EQUAL BY LEGRAND WATTSTOPPER 'DLM' DIGITAL LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM,
HUBBLE NX. LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEMS BY APPROVED ALTERNATIVE
MANUFACTURERS SHALL PROVIDE ALL FUNCTIONS OF BASIS OF DESIGN SYSTEM

C. COORDINATE AND CONDUCT A LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM
PRE-INSTALLATION MEETING WITH THE APPROVED SYSTEM MANUFACTURER
REPRESENTATIVE(S), OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE(S), GENERAL CONTRACTOR,
AND THE DESIGN TEAM TO REVIEW THE SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS MATRIX,
COMPONENT LAYOUTS, AND MANUAL CONTROL STATION DETAILS PRIOR TO THE
START OF SYSTEM INSTALLATION.
D. DURING CONTROLS SYSTEM PROGRAMMING AND COMMISSIONING, COORDINATE
AND CONDUCT A WALK-THROUGH OF THE BUILDING WITH THE SYSTEM
PROGRAMMING TECHNICIAN/INTEGRATOR, OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE(S),
GENERAL CONTRACTOR, AND THE DESIGN TEAM TO CONFIRM PREFERRED
CONTROL PROGRAMMING AND ADJUST LIGHTING LEVELS AS REQUESTED FOR
EACH SPACE. LIGHTING LEVEL PERCENTAGES LISTED IN THIS MATRIX SHALL
BE CONSIDERED AS A STARTING POINT FOR INITIAL PROGRAMMING. PROVIDE
MINIMUM 10 DAYS NOTICE PRIOR TO WALK-THROUGH.
E. LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM START-UP, COMMISSIONING, AND
OWNER-TRAINING SHALL BE PROVIDED BY A MANUFACTURER-TRAINED
REPRESENTATIVE.
F. PROVIDE FUNCTIONAL TESTING OF THE LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM AS
DEFINED BY THE APPLICABLE ENERGY CODE(S). FUNCTIONAL TESTING SHALL
INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: DAYLIGHT SENSORS,
OCCUPANCY/VACANCY SENSORS, BAS INTERFACE, DIMMERS, ELAPSED TIMER
SWITCHES, EMERGENCY RELAYS, EMERGENCY LIGHTING TRANSFER SWITCHES,
AND NETWORKED/NON-NETWORKED DIGITAL CONTROL SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
SUBMIT TO THE ENGINEER OF RECORD FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL PRIOR TO
FINAL CODE INSPECTION, ASSOCIATED DOCUMENTATION CERTIFYING THE
INSTALLED CONTROLS MEET THE PERFORMANCE STANDARDS AS DEFINED BY THE
REQUIREMENTS FOUND IN THE PROJECT'S SEQUENCE OF OPERATION MATRIX,
AND APPLICABLE ENERGY CODE. SUBMIT TO THE OWNER[ AND COMMISSIONING
AGENT] WITHIN 90 DAYS OF RECEIPT OF CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY AND
INCLUDE IN FACILITY'S O&M MANUAL, THE APPROVED TESTING
DOCUMENTATION.
G. LIGHTING FIXTURES AND DEVICES PROVIDED AS PART OF THIS PROJECT
SHALL BE COMPATIBLE WITH AND WIRED TO ACCEPT THE APPROVED DIGITAL
LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM.
H. PROVIDE MANUFACTURER ENGRAVED PUSH-BUTTON STATIONS. DIRECTION ON
WORDING OF ENGRAVINGS SHALL BE PROVIDED BY OWNER.
I. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, ANY ZONE THAT IS DIMMABLE AND TO BE
CONTROLLED VIA OCCUPANCY SENSOR OR VACANCY SENSOR SHALL FADE DOWN
OVER 3 SECOND PERIOD AFTER TIMEOUT SETTING IS REACHED.
J. ASSUME INDICATED TARGET LIGHTING LEVELS MEASURED AT 30" AFF,
UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
K. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, TAKE A SIMILAR APPROACH TO LOCATING ZONE
CONTROLLERS, LOCAL NETWORK BRIDGES, AND OTHER SIMILAR "BACK OF
HOUSE" DEVICES WITHIN ROOMS/SPACES THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT. WHERE
ROOMS HAVE ACCESSIBLE CEILING, INSTALL ZONE CONTROLLERS CONCEALED
ABOVE THE CEILING RIGHT INSIDE THE DOORWAY OF THE ROOM THAT THEY
SERVE. WHERE NETWORK DEVICES ARE REQUIRED, INSTALL ADJACENT TO ROOM
CONTROLLERS THAT THEY SERVE. IF DEVICE LOCATION IS REQUIRED IN AN
UNCOMMON OR SPECIAL PLACE, PROVIDE LAMINATED TYPED LABEL ON GRID
NOTING EQUIPMENT LOCATED ABOVE. COORDINATE DESIRED LABELING
CHARACTERISTICS WITH ARCHITECT PRIOR TO INSTALLATION.
L. PROVIDE LABELING OF ALL LINE VOLTAGE CONDUCTOR BRANCH CIRCUITRY
AT THE LIGHTING CONTROL EQUIPMENT TERMINALS. LABEL SHALL INDICATE
PANELBOARD AND CIRCUIT NUMBER SERVING DEVICE.
M. PROVIDE MANUFACTURER-APPROVED LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM DEVICE
LAYOUT PLANS AND WIRING DETAILS (TYPICAL DETAILS FOR SIMILAR SPACE
TYPES ARE ACCEPTABLE) AS PART OF THE LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM SHOP
DRAWING SUBMISSION. ADJUSTMENTS TO DEVICE QUANTITY OR DEVICE
LOCATIONS SHOWN ON THE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS THAT ARE NEEDED TO
MEET MANUFACTURER-SPECIFIC CONTROL SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS OR OVERCOME
SYSTEM LIMITATIONS WILL BE AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE
PROJECT.
N. COORDINATE CEILING OCCUPANCY SENSOR LOCATION TO MOUNT AT LEAST
MANUFACTURER-RECOMMENDED MINIMUM DISTANCE TO SUPPLY AIR DIFFUSERS
IN AN EFFORT TO AVOID FALSE TRIGGERING OF SENSOR. SENSORS WITH
ULTRASONIC TECHNOLOGY WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO BE 'PROGRAMMED OFF'
