Introduction!!MOODLE is an acronym for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment. Moodle is a course management system (CMS)—an online learning environment that provides supplementary resources and activities to track and facilitate student learning. Online learning systems can provide greater connectivity (and thus greater learning opportunities) by providing more opportunities for interaction between the student and (1) the course materials, (2) knowledge-application activities, (3) other students, and (4) the instructor. !!!!

TASK 1: Logging In!!Moodle is a website like any other, so you can access it wherever there is a computer and internet connection. Browse to http://online.nyts.edu. The page will look like this:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Log in by inputting your username and password in the upper right corner of the window in the spaces provided. You receive these from Ava Carroll, Administrator of Online Learning System.!!Username ______________________________________!!Initial Password - W#lcome123 It is case sensitive and you will be forced to change it. The new password must have at least 8 characters, at least 1 digit(s), at least 1 lower case letter(s), at least 1 upper case letter(s), at least 1 non-alphanumeric character(s). !!New Password ___________________________________!!!!!!!� of �2 12
TASK 2: Activate a course to your Moodle account!!All students are expected to activate their Moodle accounts with their Moodle courses AFTER they register. For this you will need an "Enrollment Key.”!!The enrollment key consists of the letters and numbers of the course. The letters are lower case and there are no spaces.!!Example: BBH1004: Bible 1: Intro To the Hebrew Bible!The enrollment key is bbh1004.!!It's Easy! This is the procedure for students to get the information they need for each course (i.e.: syllabi, textbooks required…etc.)!!1. Go to http://online.nyts.edu!2. Locate the ‘Login” module on the right-hand side of the site and input your username and password. !3. Once the login process is complete, scroll down slowly and click on "All Courses” located at the bottom of the “Course Categories” or “My Courses” module.” A new page will open.!4. CP students will click “Certificate Program” and Masters students will click “Graduate Level Programs.” A new page will open.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!5. Certificate Program students will choose their site and Graduate Program students will choose their semester. A new page will open.!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!6. When you select a course it will ask for an enrollment key.” In the enrollment key box input the course letters and numbers: (all lower case i.e. ttu1002). Click on button: "Enroll me in this course". This will activate the course to your Moodle account. Graduate Program students: there are special enrollments keys for Supervised Ministry and CPE courses. Please see the course descriptions in the semester's course list document for information.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!� of �4 12
TASK 3: Accessing your NYTS Email Account!!1, Your NYTS email account is a Google powered account. You can access it from your ”My Moodle/Course Overview” page on Moodle or go to the Google web browser page and click sign in. If you have an active Gmail account click “Add an Account.”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NYTS Email Address: Moodle [email protected]! TASK 4: Posting to Forums!!1. Once you have logged into Moodle and are located on your course
site, click the desired forum. A new page will open.!!!!!!!!!2. To add a post to the forum, click “Add a new discussion topic.” A new page will open. !!!!!!!! 3. You must input information in the subject area. Your post must be inputted in the message area.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. If you are required to attach a document to your post you can “drag and drop” the document to the blue arrow and the document will upload. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “post to forum.”!!!!!!!!!!!!!5. You will be given 30 minutes to make any changes to your post. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!6. To reply to a post, click on the name of the discussion. A new page will open. Then look in the lower right hand corner for the “reply” link and click. A new page will open.!!!!!!

7. After you input your response, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “post to forum.” You will be given 30 minutes to make any changes to your response.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!� of �8 12
TASK 5: Uploading Assignments to Assignment Drop Box!!1. Click on the name of the Assignment Drop Box.!!!!! !2. A new window will open. Click on the “Add Submission” button. A new window will open. !!!!!!!!!!!!!3. There are two ways you can upload: (a) you may either “Drag and Drop” your assignment over the blue arrow and the assignment will upload then click “Save Changes.”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!� of �9 12
!!!!!!!!(b) Or click “Add” (new window opens), click Browse/Open File and you will be taken to your computer; choose the desired document and then click “Open” and you will be taken back to the previous window. Then click “Upload the file.” !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!� of �10 12
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!4. You will be take to the window that shows that the document was uploaded. You must then click “Save changes.”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!� of �11 12
