The end of the term is near... THANK YOU
As we approach the end of a busy term, I would like to express my deep gratitude to those who have been busy behind the scenes, and in particular, our very active and vibrant Parent Forum and St Francis Xavier staff. It is with your continued dedication, support and unwavering commitment to excellence in all that we do, that makes St Francis Xavier a very special place indeed.
A number of initiatives, and therefore organising committees, are either in ‘full swing’ or just finalised. Thank you to the following groups:
First Communion St Francis Xavier Annual Golf Day committee
Fete committee Curryfest committee
Mother's Day/Father’s Day celebration committees Grandparents Day
Mother’s Day/Father’s Day stall committees Parent/Teacher goal setting
Book Week Parade Book Fair
I also would like to wish the wonderful staff at St Francis Xavier a wonderful break. Your efforts and commitment are appreciated by all.
ANTI-BULLYING
St Francis Xavier Primary School has a clear Anti-Bullying policy and procedure in which the dignity of the human person is paramount. The dignity of the human person is the foundation of all Catholic social teaching and intrinsic to our education ministry. The principle that each person is made in the image and likeness of God, is central to the mission of our parish school.
Our policy identifies the interconnectedness of the characteristics of quality Catholic learning and teaching and is intended to value, respect and promote the self-esteem and dignity of each student.
The school will actively promote anti-bullying messages alerting students and staff of the need to be vigilant. We ensure our Religious Education curriculum and the Personal Development and Health curriculum are thoroughly taught so that all students grow in their social and emotional development.
We also offer other programs that promote student safety and well-being such as lunch play options, Buddy Program, School Counsellor and Wellbeing Chaplain. We encourage parents and carers to contact the school if your child is reporting bullying. We also encourage children not to be bystanders but to assist in instances by intervening themselves or by telling a teacher on duty.

MONDAY 9th OCTOBER IS A PUPIL FREE DAY (Staff Development Day)
First day of Term 4 for students will be TUESDAY 10th OCTOBER
This has been another term of awesome sporting achievements.
Firstly, a special mention to the lovely Ms Seymour who placed 3rd in her age group at the Bendigo Bank fun run, what a great effort!
Now to the wonderful efforts of our students.
Kiarra McGowan, Jemma Browne, Lucy Johnson, Ella Grant, Georgia Vrouwenvelder and Jayde Gulliford won their respective netball grand finals recently. The girls played their very best, helping their teams achieve victory.
Lucy Johnson, Katie Ray and Nikita Braine travelled to Sydney recently, to compete in the Level 4 State Gymnastics titles. They all did our school very proud, had lots of fun and came away with some bronze medals.
Stage 1 student Ivy Veness has had both tap and ballet exams last weekend. Ivy received Honours in tap and graduated to Grade two ballet. Well done Ivy!
Yesterday, some Stage 2 and 3 students travelled to Macksville to participate in a Touch Football Gala Day. Each team of students gave it their best and all showed improvement throughout the day.

REMARKABLE READER OF THE WEEK! This is our Remarkable Reader of the Week for Week 10. His name is Corey Sullivan and he is in Year 6. What’s your favourite book and what do you like about it? The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time. I like the mysteriousness and adventure of the book. If you could be any book character, who would you be and why? I would be the Flash, because he runs fast and I could save the world. What do you like about St Francis Xavier Primary School? The curriculum is very fun and educational. How often do you read? Every morning before I go to school. If you could have a superpower what would it be? Running fast. Do you prefer books or movies? Both, because they are both interesting, the books have more detail and movies have super cool visuals. What’s your favourite book genre? Mystery/Adventure and action. What do you want to be when you grow up? A professional NFL player, preferably for the Patriots. Who is your favourite author? Mark Haddon. Thank you Corey! The Books & Arts Team

Slow Down for Children
40km/h school zones help protect children on their way to and from schools at the times and places where they are often in high numbers. This lower speed limit reduces the risk and potential severity of a crash. School zone signs, dragon’s teeth road markings and flashing lights improve the visibility of school zones. 40km/h school zones are in force on all days which are not a weekend, a public holiday or a publicly notified school holiday for government schools. School zone days include school development days, also known as pupil-free days, because some students may attend their school on these days. Most school zones operate from 8 to 9.30am and from 2.30 to 4pm. Motorists must drive no faster than 40 km/h through school zones. Increased fines and demerit points apply for certain school zone offences, with illegal use of mobile phones and speeding among those included.

CANTEEN NEWS
DONATION OF FRESH PRODUCE
If there are any families amongst our school community who are willing to donate fresh produce or fruit seconds, for example cucumbers, tomatoes, bananas and berries, to the School Canteen on a regular basis that would be wonderful. We can freeze any unused fruit for further use in smoothie and juice days or for making muffins, cakes and slices.
HELP NEEDED
The School Canteen operates each Wednesday and Friday and we are in great need of more helpers for the Term 4 Roster. If you are able to help out for a couple of hours on a Wednesday or Friday it would be very much appreciated. Please contact the School Office on 66541981.

ALLERGY ALERT
Nuts and other food allergies
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have students in our school and some who are recently enrolled who are at risk of Anaphylaxis. They have an allergy
to peanuts and/or tree nuts. Exposure to nut products will trigger a serious reaction, and such a reaction (anaphylaxis)
could be fatal if not treated quickly and appropriately.
In order to provide as safe environment as possible for all children, we are asking for your cooperation in not sending nuts
or nut products to school at any time. This will help to reduce the risk for these children. Nut products include peanut
butter, nutella, crunchy nut biscuits, peanut muesli bars and dips.
The school, staff and parents of ‘at risk’ children are implementing strategies to help these children to be aware of their
allergies and to learn responsibility. Whilst we cannot guarantee the elimination of nut products from the school environ-
ment, your full and alert cooperation will ensure risks are minimised especially around special food events, for example,
cake stalls, parties and everyday lunch and recess.
We understand that these measures will require extra thought when packing your child’s lunch. Thank you for your co-
operation, which we understand may cause some inconvenience, however it will enable these children and their families
to feel supported and safer in their school environment.
If you require further information regarding Anaphylaxis please contact the school.
Snack Suggestions - Pre-Packaged Foods
