A Look at Transportation Funding in Missouri
November 2019
Missouri has $8 billion in unfunded transportation needs.
• $503 Million Toward Unfunded Needs• $351 Million State General Revenue/Bonding• $81 Million Federal INFRA Grant• $50 Million State General Revenue Cost Share• $21 Million Federal Bridge Grant
But we’re making progress
High Priority Unfunded Needs
Legislature appropriated $50 million from general revenue to jump-start Gov. Mike Parson’s “Focus on Bridges” program.
Will repair or replace 45 bridges during FY 2020.
$255 million project = a new I-70 Missouri River Bridge + I-70 climbing lanes at Mineola Hill
In July, we received a federal grant to build a new Missouri River Bridge at Rocheport
The INFRA grant triggered $301 million in bonding to be paid back from State General Revenue.
Will repair or replace 215 bridges across the state that were already high priority projects.
Frees $351 million in the current Statewide Transportation Improvement Program for new projects to be determined at the local level.
ONE $81.2 MILLION GRANT LEADS TO MORE THAN $600 MILLION IN IMPROVEMENTS TO THE STATE NETWORK OF ROADS AND BRIDGES.
Missouri legislators appropriated $50 million in general revenue to fund the Governor’s Transportation Cost-Share Program
