For 2010, we challenged some of the top design minds in the

world to use some very special 3D technologies to create some

very special products. Lamps and furniture that can brighten

a room, or furnish a house, but that also soothe the soul and

engage both the imagination and the senses.

Manufactured using a variety of 3D printing methods, the .MGX

Collection 2010 combines the best of modern and traditional

craftsmanship. Our 3D technologies allow for the production

of shapes that would otherwise be impossible to realise. And

whether formed out of epoxy or polyamide, each piece is individually

drawn and created by laser beam, and carefully fi nished by hand.

Born in 1967, Patrick Jouin is one of the major

protagonists of contemporary design on the French and

international scene.

Since 1999, his Parisian agency has distinguished

itself by the diversity of its activities: construction

design, architecture, industrial design, handicraft,

scenographies, and street furniture. It’s estimated,

that on a typical day of walking around Paris, one

encounters a Patrick Jouin design every 350 metres;

He has contributed over 46,000 designs to the urban

landscape.

Inspired by both the One_Shot.MGX stool and fl ower blossoms

found in nature, this table lamp features a shade which collapses

and expands to release or contain light. As with the One_Shot.

MGX, the shade is 3D printed as a single piece, including

hinges that in one movement, transform the shade from a bud

to a blossom. And with the complexity of its design, the Bloom

lamp succeeds in pushing even further the boundaries of 3D

technologies.

Created as a single piece using 3D printing, the Volume.MGX

lamp expands from a completely fl attened position to produce

a fabulous display of shadow and light. In applying his “squared

square geometry”, Dror has created a shape which when lit,

provides both a bright, warm glow in its center, and a cooler,

darker feeling around its edges.

Founded in 2002, Dror is an extension of designer

Dror Benshetrit’s work and is a multidisciplinary design

company specializing in product design, architecture

and art direction.

With a focus on originality, Dror’s work has attracted

attention from all major international publications, has

received the prestigious iF Product Design Award in

2006, and is included in the permanent collections of

museums in North America, Europe and the Middle

East. Dror Benshetrit is the youngest addition to Culture

and Commerce, an agency representing such design

luminaries as Phillipe Starck and Marcel Wanders.

DRAGONFLY.MGX

The Dragonfl y.MGX pendant light draws its inspiration from

the curved honeycomb structure of insect eyes and their three

dimensional array of light emitting cells. Designed with a focus

on functionality and a consideration for direct and indirect light,

the Dragonfl y.MGX is closed on the upper cells and gradually

opens towards the bottom, thus shielding our eyes from glare

and letting more light pass through.

WertelOberfell - Platform was founded in 2007 by

Gernot Oberfell and Jan Wertel. Both studied Industrial

Design in Stuttgart at the State Academy of Arts, a

school which is based on the Ulmer Schule and Bauhaus

models. Their work ranges from furniture, lighting and

industrial products, to experimental research pieces.

WertelOberfell share a strong interest in new

technologies and processes and very early in their

careers, discovered the possibilities of computer aided

design and the idea that software is not just an everyday

tool, but through experimentation, is also a source of

inspiration and a vehicle for discovering new and exciting

form languages. Their work combines these experiments

with the logic and beauty of organic forms and the reality

of product design: the right use of materials, production

processes, ergonomics and functionality.

GAMETE.MGX

Inspired by the constructive language of plant seeds transported

by the wind, the Gamete.MGX table lamp contains an elegant

envelope which protects our eyes from the light. The Gamete.

MGX table lamp is currently available in three different formats,

and will soon be launched in ceiling and fl oor versions.

Born in 1969, Xavier Lust studied interior design in

Brussels where he opened his own studio in 1992,

working in various fi elds from urban furniture and

interior architecture to industrial commissions and

limited edition pieces.

His design is clearly identifi able through the visible

tension he gives to his objects, and the curves inspired

by his innovative (de)formation process of metallic

surfaces. Since 2000 his objects and furniture have

been produced by leading brands and have received

many important awards including the ‘Compasso d’Oro’.

Shown in over 50 exhibitions worldwide, Xavier’s work

was the object of a signifi cant retrospective in 2007 at

the Mac’s –Musée des Arts Contemporains- in Belgium

and is part of the permanent collection of museums

such as the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the

Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He is a frequent

guest lecturer at major art and design institutions

and is regularly featured in many international design

publications.

KRIZANT.MGX

The Krizant.MGX wall sconce refl ects the designer’s passion for

the textures and shapes found in nature, particularly those that

have a repetitive, mathematically founded pattern. When the

Krizant.MGX is lit, a rhythmic, magical sequence of light and

shade is brought to life.

As with most .MGX products, the Krizant.MGX was created as a

single object without joints or seams using 3D printing and can

be customized as needs require.

As the founder of NOMILI, digital design and additive

manufacturing are Michaella Van Vuuren’s creative

tools.

Her works include lighting, sculptures, functional

objects and jewelry. Living on a smallholding outside of

Pretoria, she is surrounded by the African bush, which

often serves as inspiration for her pieces.

CADENCE.MGX

The Cadence.MGX pendant lamp evolves from a subtle, rigid

pattern to an intricately intertwined and fl exible surface. It is an

idea once thought impossible to produce in a single material.

As with most .MGX products, the Cadence.MGX was created as

a single object, without joints or seams using 3D printing. Alone,

it can serve as an excellent bedside light, and in a group, it can

be ideal above a dining table or to accentuate a special area

in the home. The possible uses are endless; as with all .MGX

products, the Cadence.MGX is completely adaptable and can be

customized as needs require.
