WORLD YOUTH DAY!is October 23, 2016 from12-7pm Our Lady of Mercy is hosting the diocesan event, World Youth Day! !is opportunity is an honor, and a great way to build community, relations, and fellowship with other parishes and people in our diocese. !e concept and objective of the ‘mini pilgrimage’ that this day will hold, is to give youth and adults alike the opportunity to give a strong and public witness in their local community to their Catholic and apostolic faith. When this event was first held in our diocese, the walk began and ended at our diocesan chancery. Since then, there has come to be a great benefit to inviting a diOerent church parish to host the event each year, with the walk beginning and ending at their parish. One of the joys of this sacred day is the opportunity for authentic evangelization by the community and for the community. While this program was original designed for junior high and high school youth, it has since then been promoted as a family activity as well!
!e theme for our Diocesan World Youth Day is in communion with the International World Youth Day theme for the year given by the Holy Father himself. !is year, we are focusing on Mercy. Misericordia is the theme for World Youth Day this year. We are going to be taking a ‘pilgrimage’ to three venues in an eOort to get a taste of what an actual pilgrimage is like. !ese three venues will be held at diOerent sites along Marquette Avenue, and our day will consist of Mass with Bishop Muench; a key note talk by Fr. Rick Martignetti, OFM; Confession and Adoration; and if that weren’t enough, we are being provided delicious food by our very own Knights of Columbus! !is is truly a great day for our parish community to come together, and we want to welcome and invite you all to be a part of the day.
!ere is a great need for volunteers. Please email Amelia Gallagher at [email protected] for information on how to sign up to help. Opportunities are available from helping our Knights of Columbus with food, to venue set up, to being an Extraordinary Minister for Mass with our Bishop, and more.
We look forward to seeing everyone on this special day!

Altar Flowers MemorialEach week you may honor a loved one with a giF of $150 to dedicate the floral arrangement that adorns our Sanctuary.
Memorial GiftsAt the death of a loved one, many choose in lieu of flowers to encourage friends and family to make a donation to a special charity or cause. Our Lady of Mercy has nourished the spiritual life of so many parishioners and those throughout the Diocese who come here. A Memorial GiF to our Traditions for Tomorrow Capital Campaign is a wonderful way to acknowledge the lives of our beloved dead with a giF of loving generosity to the church that has been such a spiritual home. Ms. Deanie Smith can discuss beautiful ways for you to remember your loved one.
Consider adding a planned gi. in your last will and testament to remember Our Lady of Mercy.

Heavenly Father,
In this year of Mercy, we are mindful of the love of your son, Jesus, poured out for us.
For more than 70 years, Our Lady of Mercy Parish has been a spiritual home to your people.
A place of forgiveness and healing;
A place of silent prayer and joyful celebration;
A treasure of sacramental life and grace.
Orough the intercession of Our Lady, whose presence is so strongly felt in this holy place,
Renew your life in us;
Increase our faith and trust;
Bless the works of our hands and the Traditions for Tomorrow;
Let us not be content with eTorts of the past but lead us with your Spirit
to serve the generations to come;
Open our hearts to give generously of ourselves and our resources
to provide for the needs of the future;
Renew us from within; and
Give us generous hearts.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
AMEN
Our Lady of Mercy, pray for us
Fr. Cleo Milano
