From the President
Ladies, these are challenging times, and we need to step up as one unit
adhering to GFWC/FFWC guidelines. We are a great group of women
doing some good things for our community.
GFWC Florida Convention is April 12th - 14th. At our May meeting
there will be a report on that.
***A date to remember ---- June 27-July 1 2013, GFWC Convention-- Hollywood FL
Dates in April to keep in mind are April 14th, 1:00 pm for a domino
tournament (contact Amber Shillingford.) and Thursday, April 18th
for a fundraising dinner for the butterfly garden (Liz Knowlton is our
contact person.)
Thanks to the team of members who met twice during February to
revise our bylaws and standing rules. Proposed revision will be
published and available in the office for any member who wishes to
read them prior to the April general meeting when we vote on its
adoption. Thanks ladies.
There are some changes to take note:
Our Board meeting in April will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd at 2:30
pm. The General meeting will include our day and evening members
and will take place on Tuesday, April 16th at 6:30 pm. Kindly make
an effort to attend and let us commune as one.
The Evening meeting members will meet on the Tuesday prior to our
General meetings, beginning in May.
Let me say well done to Cecilia., Maggie ,Eleanor & team for a job
well done with the Dinner/ Dance.
If any member needs assistance to attend meeting sessions, please feel
free to call me or any officer; help will come to you. See you all at our
next general meeting . Please let's keep our ill members in our
thoughts and prayers.
Good health to all.
With love --

A few of us ladies are working hard at cleaning up our craft area. We
just need to get into the closets to clean them out and put our containers
where they can be accessed easily. We are also looking for some ideas
for our craft table at the Autumn Bazaar.
Congratulations to Louise Clarke, Mary Armantrout, Marilyn Novak, and
Betty Ferro who will be going to Convention with their crafts in April.
Good luck, Ladies.
BUNCO : Ladies, do not forget our Bunco games on the first Friday of
every month. The game is very simple to play. Come and join us; we always
have a great time!

Early Spring Greetings to all of you, DWC members!
I'm excited to share with you that, thanks to YOU, marketers extraordinaire, we are continuing to grow in membership! New members bring a fresh perspective, renewed energy, and a wealth of experience to fur-ther enhance our efforts in the community, so I'm always glad to be able to report that our sisterhood has grown. Please join me in welcoming to our Club:

At this time, we are 77 Active Members strong, and since I know that we have at least 2 new members coming aboard in the April timeframe, it's altogether possible that we will be at the 80 mark very soon, thanks to your hard work. Please continue to talk about the many benefits of belonging to the DWC with your friends, neighbors, coworkers, and anyone else you think would enjoy working with us to make Deltona a better place- invite them to come to a meeting and see what we're all about!
We are continuing to develop our Getting To Know You campaign, and although we're a bit behind schedule in getting it formally launched, don't worry, we'll have it for you soon! Angie and I welcome your ideas for what you'd like to know about our newest members to help you discover connections in com-mon...always a great start in making a new friend. We have all kinds of questions we're considering...how long the member has lived in Deltona, outside interests, careers, memberships in other organizations...any and all input would be welcome.
For you newer members, please make every effort to come to the April Meeting...one of the activities that evening will be a New Member Orientation, through which you will learn more about the activities of the DWC, as well as helpful information regarding the State and National levels of the Federation of Woman's Clubs. There's always something new to learn, and I'm sure our more seasoned members would be willing to share their experiences with us.
In closing, I'd like to extend my deepest thanks to you for lifting Steve and I up in prayer and positive thoughts as I begin my fight with breast cancer. I'm truly touched by the love and caring that has been expressed to me, and the many offers of help. It's a huge comfort to know that I have so many friends and supporters pulling for me - with all that good energy spinning, I have no doubt at all that I will have a good outcome when my surgery and treatments are complete some months from now.
Much love to you all,
Thanks! Christine

International Outreach
The International Outreach Community Service Program is designed to enable members to become better world citizens through
advocacy, education, and action which will, in turn, affect change in and for our global friends and their communities. I would like to remind everyone about the dinner dance show on March 23rd at our club. We need to sell our tickets because we need everybody’s support for the children in Peru and Panama for the vaccinations. March 8th is United Nations Day for woman’s Rights and international Peace. If you feel strongly about your rights, please consider supporting our fundraiser to improve the life of children. Also, Sonny will be the DJ. We ask the members help with the event and don't forget the rewarding part of giving, it is priceless.

Greetings Promoters of pedagogy!
It seems as though it were one week ago since our last report—how the month flies by!
Regarding the Education CSP, we have made significant strides in most of our projects, due to the consistency,
dedication and generosity of our president and a handful our members. Thank you so much for giving your time and
energy to make these projects successful:
Project: Labels, box-tops and tabs –
Guess what ladies; at long last, it’s almost time to hand in all those items to the schools. This month and next,
let’s remember to collect as many as we can, so we can help our mentees classes win the prizes!
Project: (Our Baby), Discovery Elementary
We currently have 3 members who mentor 3 sweet young ones there at Discovery. These children really look
forward to their 30-45 minutes of getting to know a caring adult in the community. Speaking of which, Louise
Clarke, along with mentoring, is now volunteering as an assistant in the kindergarten classes. Liz Knowlton and
the Conservation CSP will share details re the Butterfly Garden. Not only do we have more presence at
Discovery, but we are certainly making a difference there as well as in our community!
Wee Read Literacy Project: We have another location thanks to Dory Ciaramitaro, who has taken the first
round of children’s books to her church. Remember, all you have to do is ask if we can place the books
there; your Education CSP will do all the rest. Should you find a location, give me a call 646.510.6702.
President’s Project: Scholarships
We have 2 candidates as women in the community who aspire to return to school, and whose names will go on to the
District. Hopefully, one or both will be chosen.
Our scholarship applications for deserving female High School students were taken to Deltona and Pine Ridge High
Schools, and given to the guidance counselors. The girls returned their applications after Spring Break. Your
Education committee will soon begin the selection process.

Ladies, you did it. Our daytime and evening members have donated over $3000 worth of
baby items to the Central Florida Pregnancy Center. Kudos go to Marion Jung who took
the initiative and solicited donations from friends, family and other organizations.
Thank you Deland Neighborhood Center, All Saints Thrift Shop and Second Time
Around Thrift Store for helping Marion. Even her granddaughter donated some of her
favorite stuffed animals. Thank you also goes to Wendy Lavoie for the donation of
overstocked baby items from her Shower Me Baby business. We even had cash donations
of $10.
Words cannot adequately express my appreciation for all you have given to this worthy
project. You can all be proud of your service to our community.
Louise Clarke
Betty Ferro & Bonnie Marchese prepared a beef, cabbage, rice and vegetable dish at our March
meeting, along with Irish soda bread. Thanks girls, was delicious.

Hello ladies,
Just a quick reminder that we have an on-going need for phone support. Every day a voice message goes
without a response is a lost opportunity for the Club to gain rental income or more importantly... gain a
new member! We need people willing to stop into the office for an hour or two each day just to retrieve
and respond to voice messages. It is a very easy way to show your support for the Club. And, for all our
Evening Members... you can definately help out too, as you can check our messages from home!!! If any-
one is willing to pitch in, please contact me and I will get you set up and ready to go. Remember:
"Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success"

Don't forget to tell your friends to come and join us and enjoy a day on the islands in the middle of Deltona!!

Publicity
This is the time of year to apply for many of the education and literacy grants for the next school year. Some deadlines are April 30th.
I have applied for several. Got an insider tip from someone regarding a Target grant and I am hopeful. It would be for $ for events for education to encourage reading (which we already do) involving kids and parents. It would be for $ 2000 so pray for this one.
Just giving you ladies a heads up because you may get emails regarding these applications at the club email address.
I will be away for a couple of weeks but usually if they need or want additional info they will contact the club direct. I have the names of Eldine & Nalani on the grants for contact. I have applied for 8 grants thus far for education for next year.
I have been nagging TD Bank for building funds through corporate- I am relentless. If you get any updates on any of these would you please shoot me an email. Pinwheel event was a huge success Saturday-made over $100 thanks to our sales woman of the year Eldine!!!
