Paper – III : FORENSIC PATHOLOGY AND TOXICOLOGY

Time: 3 Hours Max. Marks: 100

 Instructions : Draw diagrams wherever necessary. Answer  all questions.

I. A 32 yr. old female underwent caesarean section in a private hospital under spinal

anaesthesia. Soon after the baby was delivered, the mother had hypotension,

cyanosis, respiratory distress, convulsions and post partum bleeding. Death

occured within minutes. Relatives allege medical negligence. Body is brought

for autopsy :

1) How will you proceed with this case ? What findings will help you to find out

the cause of death ? What lab. tests will you do to confirm your diagnosis ?

2) What is negligence ? Describe the types and prerequisites for each. What are theprocedural formalities to be adopted before a doctor can be arrested in

Kerala for alleged negligence ? (10+10=20)

II. Write briefly on :

1) Skull fractures

2) Ewing’s postulates

3) Transsexualism

4) Chronic arsenic poisoning. (10×4=40 Marks)

III. Write short notes on :

1) Acute neurogenic cardiac failure

2) Right ventricular fibrofatty dysplasia

3) Ghost well

4) Corrosive sublimate poisoning. (10×4=40 Marks)
