COMPANYProspiria, Inc. has developed and tested PoET™, anoninvasive, optoacoustic device that determines precisely where an endotracheal tube is located within the trachea. PoET™ has been successfullytested in animal models, infants, and adults. The entire procedure with the clinical prototype requires only 15 to 30 seconds and does not require interruption of mechanical ventilation or movement of a patient. The operating principle is optoacoustic, in which a pulsed laser light generates an ultrasound signal, which, because of the high spatial resolution of ultrasound, provides highly accurate information regarding the position of an endotracheal tube within the trachea.
