The world is a country which nobody ever yet knew
by description; one must travel through it ones self
to be acquainted with it. Lord Chesterfield
The wise and eloquent British Statesman and man of letters,
Phillip Stranhope, better known as Lord Chesterfield, offers
all of us the best advice about world travel experience ityourself.
Yes, one can read about it in a novel, a guidebook, watch a tel-
evision show or even hear about it from our family and
friends. But, a description of anothers life experiences travel-
ing through Europe, down under in Australia and New
Zealand or even to Israel and Jordan will never fulfill what
each of us will know and appreciate unless we travel to these
amazing lands ourselves.
For decades, Mayflower Tours has been a travel ambassador to
lands around world bringing those descriptions to life for
thousands of travelers. And, 2012 is no exception with
unique opportunities like the once-in-a-lifetime Floriade offi-
cial World Horticultural Exposition in Venlo, The
Netherlands. This special event, held only every ten years, will
showcase countries from around the world at the incredible
multi-sensory exposition which we visit while on an amazing
European River Cruise sailing through four countries.
Through the joy of travel, open your heart and mind to the
beauty unique to each country with the 14 special itineraries
described in the pages ahead. Then, join us and becomeacquainted with each and every land filled with history, cul-
ture and traditions that shape our world through your own
experiences.
We are grateful for your patronage and look forward to
sharing the world with you in 2012 and beyond.

Dubrovnik, Croatia
Dubrovnik,Croatia
Nicknamed Pearl of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik is a charming port by the
Dalmatian coast, set in front of a picturesque hillside, and is one of the mostattractive destinations on the Adriatic Riviera. Few of Dubrovnik's
Renaissance buildings survived the earthquake of 1667 but fortunately
enough remain to give an idea of the city's architectural heritage. The finest
Renaissance highlight is the Sponza Palace which dates from the 16th cen-
tury and is currently used to house the National Archives. Today's intact
city walls, constructed mainly during the 12th17th centuries, have long
been a source of pride for Dubrovnik. The walls run an uninterrupted
course of approximately 6,360 ft in length, encircling most of the old city,
and reach a maximum height of about 82 ft. The city has been extensively
restored since suffering during the Balkan hostilities of the 1990s and, some
would say, is more beautiful now than ever. The old city is lined with cob-
blestoned streets, steeped in stunning architecture and sculptures and boasts
spectacular fountains, museums, monasteries and churches. The city's style
and architecture is strongly rooted in its historical Venetian and, to a lesser
extent, Turkish influence. In 1979, the old city of Dubrovnik, which
includes a substantial portion of the historic walls, joined the UNESCO list
of World Heritage Sites.

Delphi and Temple of Apollo
After the Acropolis, Delphi (UNESCO World Heritage site) is the
most popular archaeological site in Greece. It is considered to be the
center of the world, the place where heaven and earth met.
Recognized as the center of worship for the god of Apollo, son ofZeus, people today believe the Oracle of Delphi still creates a spiri-
tual experience. The Doric Temple of Apollo was the home of Pythia,
the priestess who channeled the spirit of the gods, predicting the
future. Before the fire which destroyed the temple, the walls were
inscribed with the ancient wisdom of Know Thyself and Nothing
in Excess, still meaningful today.

Muckross HouseBlarney Castle
The Capital of Northern Ireland - Belfast
In recent years, Belfast has become a popular tourist destination.
The citys architecture is rich in Victorian and Edwardian build-
ings with elaborate sculptures over the doors and windows. Your
panoramic city tour includes Donegall Square, dominated by the
elaborate City Hall and Albert Clock. Drive through WestBelfasts Protestant neighborhood of Shankill Road, and the
Catholic neighborhood of Falls Road, where large, vivid murals
painted on the sides of buildings express the feelings that still run
deep on both sides. Though the names of these areas were much
in the news during the Troubles, the gate in the Peace Wall
between them now stands open. Drive by the infamous Titanic
Quarter, home to colossal cranes of Harland & Wolff where the
RMS Titanic was built and launched. Enjoy lunch on your own
and chat with the locals at a pub.
Blarney Castle - Kiss the Stone for the Gift of the Gab!Blarney Castle was built more than 600 years ago by the King of
Munster, Cormac MacCarthy, and is considered Irelands greatest
treasure. Legend has it that if you climb to the top of the castle
and kiss the Stone of Eloquence, youll never be at a loss for
words. It must be true as everyone from Sir Walter Scott to
American presidents and world leaders have tried it. Get caught
in its magical spell with Wishing Steps, Witchs Kitchen, Druids
Cave and other delights, telling a story of centuries past. After the
castle, youll have time to wander through the village of Blarney,
shop at the Blarney Woolen Mills and have lunch on your own
before continuing to Killarney.
Killarney - Irelands Most Beautiful Countryside
Renowned for the splendor of its scenery, Killarney has been the
inspiration of poets and painters for centuries. With sparkling
lakes, deep forests and jagged misty mountains as background,
this lively town will delight you with its pubs, craft galleries and
shops. See St Marys Cathedral, built during the famine by a peo-
ple whose faith was stronger than their hunger. Muckross House
and Gardens are majestically situated on the shores of Killarney
National Park. Ride in a horse drawn Jaunting cart, while listen-
ing to your jarvey (driver), whose tall tales add hilarity to the
tour. Ride along the shores of the Lower Lake to the ruins of the
15th-century Franciscan Abbey. Then shop for wool sweaters and
fine crystal along charming High Street.
