A word from the Principal …
Last week was a very warm week of school! We did
our best to keep cool, but it was a long week!
Footbridge update
Last year, our Governing Council were successful in persuading the
Salisbury Council to set aside some funding
($50 000) to undertake a study into the possibility/ feasibility of up-
grading the council footbridge across Dry Creek. This is the main
crossing point for our school, throughout the school day. As we know
the footbridge causes some issues in wet weather; in particular, when
the water levels rise over the bridge and the safety gates close. This is
something that we have always managed safely, but it poses challeng-
es for students in getting to the canteen and accessing the gym, Japa-
nese Room and Arts Room, which are on either side of the bridge.
Last week a private consultant engaged by the council, visited the
school to get a better understanding of our challenges and ideally,
what we would need in terms of getting a better solution at the foot-
bridge crossing. We should be receiving a preliminary report soon, to
update us on ‘where to next’ and hopefully some further funding from
Salisbury Council, to get an improved and permanent solution once
and for all. Fingers crossed!!
Governing council 2019
Last week our Governing Council met for the first time. Our new Gov-
erning Council has been elected, after nominating at the recent AGM.
Simon Lemmo is our chairperson, Peter Richings is our Treasurer and
Tracy Fitzjohn is our Secretary. Other Governing Council members
include: Andre Stuyt, Nick Henderson, Brie Dams, Sarah-Jane Ellis,
Sarah Poyner, Kelly Williams, Victoria Brown and Anu Wilson. Myself
as Principal, Sue Lemmer (Deputy) and Ali Lovegrove (staff rep.) are
also on G.C.
School photos
School photos are happening next week on 14th March. Information
around this should have come home already, with your child. Please
ensure your child is in full school uniform for their photos and remem-
ber that the child needs to bring their photo ‘envelope’ on the day
and give it to the photographer.

Fri 29th Mar: Pupil free day
From today, we commence the School Run4Fun Colour Explosion which is as a major fundraiser this term so we do ask for your support. The more money we raise the more we can provide for the students.
The School Run4Fun Colour Explosion will be held on 10/4/2019 starting at 1:30pm. We do ask that you bring a spare
change of clothes to school, most importantly a plain white shirt as the students will be covered in powder from head to
toe. The day’s focus is on fun and fitness with the added benefit of raising funds for our school.
Colour Powder
The colour powder used in our event has been sourced direct from India, the home of Holi Powder. It is made of high quali-
ty corn starch and permitted food colours. It’s non-toxic, biodegradable, skin safe and environmentally friendly. Toxicologi-
cal Risk Assessment and ingredient listings can be obtained from the School Office upon request. Students with asthma are
advised to be careful in their decision to participate.
How Does My Child Fundraise?
Students have now received a Sponsorship Form with instructions on how to raise money and order prizes. Students ob-
tain donations in cash using the Sponsorship Form together with online fundraising.
Students who raise as little as $10 or more will receive an incentive prize for their efforts. But why not aim higher? You
have the option to choose up to five (5) prizes and this will set your fundraising goal. Family and friends are your greatest
supporters, so ask them first for your support. You will reach your fundraising goal in no time.
Student Profile Page
Create a Student Profile Page at www.myprofilepage.com.au which is unique to you. There are also some great features
like recording your sponsorships and selecting your prize goal.
You can also register for online fundraising. It’s the easiest way to help your child raise money and to reach your fundrais-
ing goal sooner.
WIN A SHARE OF $200,000 WORTH OF FREE SPONSORSHIP DONATIONS. Create a Student Profile Page at
www.myprofilepage.com.au and enter your unique code found on page five (5) of your Sponsorship Form to see if you’re
an instant winner. Give your fundraising goal a kick start!
How to Order Prizes?
To reward your child for their efforts, they will receive incentive prizes based on the total amount of sponsorship dollars
raised in cash, online, and if applicable, any FREE SPONSORSHIP DONATIONS won using the unique code on page five (5) of
the Sponsorship Form. You have two options to place your prize order:
1. Login or create a Student Profile Page at www.myprofilepage.com.au. Once the fundraiser has finished, click the ‘ORDER
MY PRIZE’ button and then confirm your total amount raised and order your prize/s, OR
2. Complete the back page of the Sponsorship Form and return to the school.
Please note, all donations need to be finalized on or before 10/5/19 ( Friday week 2, Term 2). Student prizes will be deliv-
ered shortly after.
Thank you in advance for your participation, and get ready for a BLAST OF COLOUR! Happy fundraising!

In E42 we have been doing lots of work to help us learn about the
text types Description and Narrative We have studied the dreamtime
story Tiddalik the Thirsty Frog. We have enjoyed doing a variety of
activities. Here are some examples of our work about Tiddalik the
Thirst Frog:
E41- The Water Cycle
As part of our Earth and Space unit in Science this
term, students asked the questions:
‘How does the water get to the clouds from the
ocean?’- Spencer
‘How do the clouds get water?’ -Emily
So we have been learning about the water
cycle. We used different experiments to see
the elements of the water cycle.
We boiled a kettle to see evaporation through the
steam and condensation that was formed on a
lid held above the kettle.
We drew the water cycle on
a sealed bag and poured
water in it, leaving the
bag in the sunlight and
watched as the water evaporated, formed condensation
and dripped down the bag as precipitation.
On a hot day we poured water on the ground outside and
watched it evaporate before our eyes!
What’s happening in E43
So far this term we have spent time getting to know one another and understanding that the
classroom is a safe place. We established class rules and are taking time to make strong friend-
ships.
Children have been learning that when we walking into the classroom we are mathematicians,
scientist, authors and artist. In maths we have been learning about patterns in nature, sorting
leaves based on their characteristics. In science we have been looking at the weather and notic-
ing the changes that are happening daily.
We love spending time working on writing our name and sounding out words. We have made a
class book called ‘Syllable Soup’, to which we love showing our parents when they drop us off.
