Freeze-thaw weathering will shatter rocks from
cliffs- material will gather at the base.
Talus/ Scree slope.

Soil particles expand due to moisture. They are lifted at a right
angle away from the slope.
As they dry, they shrink, but the force of gravity pulls them
vertically down.
