Arts Café, Vernissage, Salon deJazz, Shakespearience. Thesefancy terms all have one thing

in common: they’re happening atMarianopolis ArtsFest 2013.

Marianopolis College’s annualArtsFest brings together students andfaculty to offer an array of artisticprojects, delivering old and new stylesin their interactive museum-like set-ting. Some talents of our classmatesand colleagues include classic paint-ing on canvas with a twist, depictingcolor spectrums of our brains when welisten to music, and beautiful digitalart paintings, personifying thePeriodic Table of Elements.

First in this year’s line up of cultur-al and artistic activities is the ArtsCafé, organized by Steven Custodio,at which students will present origi-nal prose and poetry, and performlive music. Arts Café will take placeTuesday April 16th and ThursdayApril 18th in the Student Loungeduring Activity Period. Come andsupport your friends and classmates!

The main focus of this year’s artsfest is the annual Vernissage,Tuesday, April 16th from 4:00 to 7:00where friends and family alike takethe evening to appreciate the hardwork put in to all the beautiful proj-ects. CALL and Arts & Science stu-dents will be present to answer anyquestions you have. Can’t find a par-ticular work of art? Pick up a map in

the rotunda! Admission is free andfood and drinks will be provided at 6!

Next, CALL’s very own GabrielleBuccaya is proud to present Le Salonde Jazz. Take a moment onThursday, April 18th at 5:00 to comeby the Student Lounge for live musicand intellectual discussions aboutstudents’ art. This event will emulatean 18th Century Parisian Salon andparticipants will also be encouragedto discuss with the professors of theLiving Books Society. Jazz music willbe performed by Marianopolis stu-dents and free food, courtesy ofPekarna, will be served. Admission isfree but guests are invited to donateto Dans La Rue, a Montreal-basedNon-Profit organization.

Finally, The Shakespearience,Marianopolis College’s Shakespea-rean theatre troupe, will be closingArtsFest 2013 with a rousing per-formance of A Midsummer Night’sDream. This year’s production willtake place April 19th at 7:00 in theAmphitheatre. Tickets are $5.00 forstudents and $7.00 for adults. Travelback to ancient Greece with a cast offirst and second years and come andsupport your friends! Reserve yourtickets today at [email protected].

So there you have it! This year’sArtsFest is sure to be jam-packedwith something for everyone. Artprojects will be showcased all weeklong. Break out of your paper-writingcraze for a bit and check out all thewonderful projects your fellow stu-dents have created! v
