DESCRIPTION: This site is approximately 7 miles downstream of the headwaters of the Cohocton River. Habitat wasconsidered adequate for benthic macroinvertebrates. The benthic community was somewhat poor in species richness andEPT richness, likely due to lingering headwater effects. Nutrient enrichment was indicated by Impact SourceDetermination. Overall water quality was assessed as slightly impacted.

DESCRIPTION: The sample was taken downstream of the Route 4] 5 bridge in Cohocton. The specific conductance hadmore than doubled from the upstream site. The substrate was dominated by gravel and may have limited the benthiccommunity. Stoneflies, which were numerous at the upstream site, were not found at this site. Caddisflies and rifflebeetles dominated the sample and water quality was assessed as slightly impacted.
