Assassination attempt
On October 3, 1995, Gligorov was the target of a car bomb assassination attempt in Skopje.
There have been no suspects brought to light and no progress made on the case.
Gligorov was seriously injured above his right eye and was immediately conveyed to the hospital.

Professor Dr. Jovica Ugrinovski, recalls in details
the 3 October 1995 “They called me and took me to the City
Hospital. I saw him there in quite a good condition.”
“It was clear that there were shrapnel or projectiles in his head.”
“From a conscious patient who was responding to questions, he became sleepy, difficult to establish contact.”
