General Information About China
• There are 34 provinces, and 845 cities in China, the current population is now estimated to 1.6 billion, 3/5 being men and 2/5 women. GDP in China since 1993 has increased steadily, and over the next 13 years continuously. In 2007, China reached the 3rd biggest GDP worldwide, and the total figure is 22.232 billion euro approximately. The major contribution GDP wise in China comes from Guangdong, Liaoning, Zhejiang and the Hebei province.
Wealth Distribution• Wealth and population, distribution are almost the same, which means
more people, more wealth. Most rich people tend to live near the southern and northern part of China.
Internet Coverage and Preference
• Internet penetration in China is one of the most difficult figures to measure or calculate. Roughly speaking it would reach 20% of the entire population, and most of it is being contributed by internet cafés and business centers. The average number of internet cafés in one city is approximately over 1200 units. On the other hand, the number of home internet users is climbing up rapidly month by month.
• Chinese people consider mandarin as their primary language, any other language are viewed as a foreign language.
• The Chinese currency is Yuan, some people consider US Dollar as their currency of choice, along with Euros and Hong Kong Dollar.

• Purchasing power parity GDP per capita has shown significant growth, nearly 15% per annum and a total of almost 90% between 2000 and 2006 to reach US$8,004. In local terms, China’s real GDP was 8,637 billion Yuan in 2006 and real GDP per capita was 6,573 Yuan.

Internet Penetration
• The number of internet users in China has grown 509% since 2000 to total 137 million. Internet penetration levels have also grown by more than 500%, from 1.7% in 2000 to 10.4% in 2007. Broadband penetration levels in China are very high at 76% of internet users (104 million), reflecting the relative recent introduction of the internet in China, as well as government investment in infrastructure.

General Information about Macau
• Macau is situated southeast of China, on the western bank of the Pearl River Delta of the Guangdong Province. It lies 70 kilometers southwest of Hong Kong, and 145 kilometers from Guangzhou.
• Macau is officially a Chinese territory under Portuguese administration. It has its own government structure, which is endowed with political and legislative power, enshrined in the Organic Statue of Macau.
• Macau is derived from the name of a Chinese goddess, known as A-M ? or Ling M? and is popular with seafarers and fishermen. When Portuguese sailors landed and asked the name of the place, the natives replied A-Ma-Gao (Bay of A Ma). In modern terminology, Amagao was then shortened to Macau.
• Population to date is approximately of 450,000, of which 95% are Chinese nationals and 5% Portuguese, Europeans, and other nationals.
